An intraoral camera is an indispensable diagnostic and educational tool. The tiny video camera moves around inside of your mouth and generates a tooth by tooth video exam of your teeth. Lasers are a non-surgical approach to arresting the progression of periodontal disease. Following scaling and root planing, a laser is used to significantly reduce the bacterial colonies and decontaminate the infected periodontal pocket. Lasers also remove the infected tissue lining the periodontal pocket. As the infected tissue is removed, microscopic blood clots form and your body's natural healing response takes over. As you heal, the tissue reattaches to the bone and your gums return to a healthy infection-free state.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is an advanced, proven technology that provides more precise three-dimensional (3D) imaging for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral health conditions. 3D dental X-rays can uncover issues that may not be detectable with 2D X-rays. By making images easier to see, its helpful in gaining a better understanding of oral health conditions and suggested treatment.

I was so impressed with La Mesa Modern Dental Group! I needed to make an emergency dental appointment during the weekend and they squeezed me in first thing Monday morning with Dr. Christine Al-Khouri. The entire experience was so stress-free. They were clear about my options and what I could do moving forward so I could make the best decision for myself. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants a great dental experience!

This office is equipped with so many new-fangled gadgets and techniques I felt like I was in the 22nd century! I had a crown and a filling done on the same day in under two hours and am delighted with the results - even my night guard still fits!

Do not go to this office under any circumstances. This is the worst office I have every encountered. Not just the worst dental office but the worst office in general. They cancelled my appointment with less than 24 hours notice and then told me I would need to wait over 2 months to get another appointment at the same time of day as my original appointment. I asked to speak to their office manager. It took over a week for him to finally get in touch with me and when he did, he was hostile and rude. He yelled at me and told me that he would not accommodate me and told me I should go to a different dentist office. Completely audacious.

Today was my first visit. Every member of the staff I interacted with was incredible! They took the time to ensure my insurance would cover certain services, to walk me through costs and payment plans of the ones that weren't, and made sure I felt comfortable every step of the way. Christine Al-Khouri was so gentle and took her time. She was extremely kind, thorough, and communicative. I will definitely be back!

Everybody at the office was great! Carmen the assistant who took my x-rays was very knowledgeable and very comforting, because I have a lot of dental anxiety. Dr.Kruger did a couple fillings on my teeth and she was very gentle. Great experience at this office!

As a busy mom of four I always put my self last when it came to dental (and many other things) until the pain was too much to bare. The staff and doctors made me feel safe and comfortable through out the whole experience, I was so scared to start treatment but they were gentle and patient with me. If I could give this office a 10 star review I would, highly recommended!

I am not one to leave many reviews, but I am still bothered by how this business is run. I started going to them a few years ago and loved the friendly staff and ease of booking. I even convinced my husband to visit. But then I started realizing how much they were charging my insurance, and upcharging me on services. When I actually started to pay attention I realized they are absolutely running a scam. Over charging my insurance for services never received and overcharging both my husband and I in office for out of pocket expenses. I had to fight for thousands of dollars back, that they never should have charged in the first place. It took MONTHS, and many many many hours on the phone with their "office manager." Now I changed dentists and I realized even more what a scam they are running. Save yourself the headache and just go anywhere else.

This business has charged me for dental services that were covered by dental insurance not once, not twice but three times. They participate in dental insurance fraud. I called my insurance and they confirmed to me that they should not have charged me for cleaning services such as scaling. Had to call the dental office each time, be placed on hold, be given excuses about management not being in the office to authorize the refund etc. They try and upsell laser gum treatment and other extra services that insurance doesn't cover to try and make as much money from their customers as possible. They also are very disorganized with communication between staff. This place takes advantage of their customers, double charges for services that are covered by insurance and should be removed from the Delta Dental insurance group for fraud. Look for another dentist that actually cares about their customers and works legally with insurance companies.

I usually have a rough dental experience but even with a root canal and various other procedures it went smooth, no pain and the staff are incredibly warm and wonderful here! What a great vibe and service thank you modern dental!!

I've never left a review (let alone a bad one) in my life, but I want to warn people. This place is really nice and the staff are helpful and friendly. But they've upsold treatment at EVERY appointment I've had. At my last appointment they said I needed a crown, which I felt was a bit extreme for a cavity, so I got a second opinion. The second dentist I saw said a filling would be just fine, and didn't think a crown was a good idea. This place will sell you treatment you do not need; look elsewhere for a dentist.

I struggled finding a GOOD dentist I loved after moving from Chicago, until I met Dr. Al-Khouri! She is the absolute best and is completely honest/transparent with you and your treatment plans. I am no longer in the SD area, but still make the drive down for all my dentistry needs!

Dr. Alkhouri is by far the best dentist I have ever had!! I had grown accustomed to cleanings being painful and dentists trying to oversell me on treatments I did not need, but that was 100% not the case here! Dr. Alkhouri was gentle and informed me of everything she was doing. She was honest, straight-forward, and very clearly an expert in her field. I will absolutely be coming back to her!!

I have been a loyal patient of Dr. Alkhouri for over 7 years. I have had bad dental experiences in the past and Dr. Alkhouri is great at making me feel safe and I always know I am in great hands. She is an is an amazing dentist! Dr. Alkhouri has replaced some of my crowns that another dentist did not do correctly. After years of bad crowns I finally feel so much better. I had no idea it was a bad crown that made my bite off and gave me head and neck aches. Unfortunately for my work I had to leave area however I make the trip back to SD for my dental needs. It's hard to find a dentist you can trust that does excellent clinical work. Dr. Alkhouri is the best dentist with great bedside manner. Even when I am nervous she always makes me laugh and feel at ease. I never looked forward to going to the dentist however I look Forward to my visits with her.

Beware! Be an advocate for your own dental care. First off, since I use toothpaste and mouthwash with fluoride so I refused the fluoride treatment - they billed my insurance anyway. Insurance fraud - even thought they had lame excuses as to why. For 30 years my periodontal check, I was 2s, 3s, & a few 4s. - All pretty good. At La Mesa Modern Dental Group I was painfully jabbed in 4 places, one n each quadrant. The stabbing was so unlike anything I ever had previously. I was told it was a 6 and needed special scrapping and planing to prevent periodontal disease. Like a fool I agreed. In hindsight should have been more aware. I should have read the estimate much closer. $205 for each ($820.00) . My co-pay was $60 for each totaling $240. I did not need the expensive work done - truly believe they were scamming to get more insurance billings. Now I changed dentists and my periodontal was absolutely normal. La Mesa Modern will say it is because of the scaling and planning - of course they would. Pay attention people, examine and question everything, don't be so complacent.

I really liked their hygienist Mika she's awesome and very nice, however, Steve at billing decided to ruin my relationship with this place all together. He promised to call me back days ago about billing issue I had, and he never called back, so I had to go to the office to sort this billing issue out because I never in my life had receive a bill after paying whatever they tell me to pay before doing the work. He said that it was an insurance issue and not their fault. I called the insurance, and they said my share of the payment was higher that what they charged me and that's how you end up with a bill in your mail a year after the services were rendered. Steve could have called me back when I called, and I probably would still be a customer. However, he decided to be a terrible representative for the firm and made me an active detractor from their brand. By the way, if you go here more than once you will never see the same dentist, they will always schedule a different one every time you go, so you don't really feel you get to know any of them. Mika the hygienist is the best asset they have, everyone else is underwhelming at best. They chose to lose me as a long-term customer after I've been going there for a year for my dental issues because their billing practices are horrible, and they are of no help. At least Steve is of no help. Beware of billing because they really won't be, and they will dismiss you and be condescending and never call you back when you call them about billing. Avoid them because you will start nice, but they will get you eventually make you so upset that you will give up in a great hygienist just because she works in an office with terrible billing practices. There is plenty of competition, please go to any other dentist and avoid this one as the plague they are.
