Not great. I've been coming here for years. The last two times were less than stellar. The second to the last visit I was charged out-of-pocket for my cleaning. The date they suggested for that cleaning was not 6 months out from my last. They told me this AFTER cleaning my teeth so I had no choice but to pay. I obviously would have waited if I would have known that. They shouldn't have suggested a date earlier than insurance would pay and if nothing else, should have checked before doing the work. This is when trust was lost. This last time I went into the office, it was with new insurance. First thing I asked is if my insurance was going to cover the cleaning because I had to pay out of pocket last time. 0 apologies for their mistake. They looked up my insurance and said I would have to pay $75. This made 0 sense as cleanings are fully covered by insurance. I questioned this and was snapped at. That's the cost. Why don't you just pay now. Another oddity considering I always pay after the work is done. So, hesitantly, and not knowing my insurance well enough, I paid it. I received an ultra quick basic cleaning. No xrays were taken. No dentist was present. I was not updated on the health of my teeth nor gums. I had no clue who was cleaning my teeth as she said less than 10 words to me. I was in and out in less than 40 minutes. I left confused. That wasn't the same cleaning I received every other time there. The regular cleaning with the xrays ( and I was due for them). After speaking with my insurance I find they coded me for "periodontal maintenance". I don't have periodontal disease. This is not what I asked for and also, not what I actually received. The cleaning I received was less thorough then all the rest I've had there. Flouride is an option with any cleaning so what made this visit more expensive? It makes no sense. I really like Dr F, and the back of the house has always been friendly but something strange is going on with the front of the house. It's like I wasn't allowed to ask questions nor know what I was paying for. They are not transparent with their prices. We're all likely to brush something like this off as our mistake for not knowing but it's their job to tell us what service they are providing so we, as patients, decide what we want to pay for.

A superb oral health care office. The dentist, Dr. Fyeldsted is a talented, conscientious practitioner. His staff is friendly, competent, and well trained to place patients at ease. Dr. Fyeldsted delivered four beautiful veneers for my front teeth, a procedure requiring experience and finesse. I should know. I practiced dentistry for 34 yrs. and performed many veneers and cosmetic crowns over this period. I highly recommend this office as trustworthy and exceptional.

I have been to a few different dentists in the area, but this is by far the best dentist in La Mesa. I hate going to the dentist, but they took such good care of me here that I won't be going anywhere else again. Thank you La Mesa Hills!

I absolutely hate going to the dentist. I avoid them like the plague because I've had many bad experiences. However these people actually care about their patience, they're super nice, organized, and have their stuff together. And this coming a person whose very skeptical about dentists. They have taken very good care of me. 10/10 would recommend

I was referred to this office by Cigna HMO for an emergency appointment (tooth ache). At first it was really good; the DA was nice, the dentist listened, and the office was fairly clean. However, when it came to do any work the office manager was extremely condescending and even cruelly laughed at me when I begged to have my tooth extracted. The prices did not reflect my fee schedule and they added ridiculous additional services like a gingivectomy around the #2 tooth for the nominal fee of $700 out of pocket. A gingivectomy is a cosmetic procedure; there is a procedure for crown lengthening and that IS covered by insurance but dentists are paid less by the insurance and no copay for me. They were willing to unnecessarily cut my gums up so they could squeeze a few more bucks out of me. I arrived at 10:30am and didn't leave until about 1pm, all they did was take a bunch of x-rays and refused to treat me since I didn't have thousands of dollars to spend in cosmetic procedures on my back teeth. They told me if I wanted the tooth extracted so bad that I could go to a clinic, despite me having insurance. FYI, this office claims they are not accepting ANY HMO business after this month. They seem to sub out all of their endo and extraction work to specialists, which is common practice because they make less than they would with cosmetic dentistry. Even though they accepted my emergency appointment they told me they could do nothing to treat me until next week. I'm in so much pain and I told them I felt like I might pass out but the office manager just asked me to leave. This office has no respect for their customer's safety or well being. Hoping to find a good dentist before this infected tooth literally kills me, but for now since this office wasted my entire day I will be drinking and crying myself to sleep.

Is it possible to love your dentist and his staff? Yes! I have had nothing but exceptional service and pleasant experiences at La Mesa Hills Dentistry. Everyone is so caring and friendly and I actually look forward to my visits. I always leave there feeling like I've spent time with good friends, something I've not experienced at most other dental or medical offices. Thank you La Mesa Hills Dentistry for taking such good care of me and my family!

If you have to get dental work done, go here. I called fairly early in the morning because I had some swelling in my mouth that I knew needed to be looked at and they squeezed me in right away. I had a little bit of a wait because I was last minute but everyone from the front desk, the hygienist, and the dentist were so kind and helpful. I definitely plan on coming back here again. THANK YOU!

I can't say enough good things about this dentist. My mouth is a mess and they put me at ease. Their prices are very reasonable. I reasearched all the dentists in the area, and I kept getting hits on La Mesa Hills. I asked friends and they told me to look no further. Stop searching, they are simply the best. BTW, Alex is the best dental hygienist in San Diego.
