So dedicated is Dr. Kohani that he shares his innovative techniques and practices with other cosmetic dentists around the world and even served previously as the Assistant Director and Senior Lecturer for the UCLA Center of Aesthetic Dentistry for 18 years.

Dr. Kohani has the qualifications and experience necessary to provide you with comprehensive dental care in San Diego. He is an active and respected member of the American Dental Society, California Dental Society, the San Diego Dental Society as well as others, and is a Fellow of the International Academy of Dental Implantology. He is also a member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (D.O.C.S), which focuses specifically on patients with dental phobia and provides solutions that make them as comfortable as possible during their dental examinations. Dr. Kohani understands that while you may want to improve your oral health, past experiences may have led you to fear the dentist. We offer every client oral sedation and nitrous oxide to help you feel at ease during every step of your visit.
In his free time, Dr. Kohani enjoys classic cars, motorcycles, jiu-jitsu, and contributing to his community through volunteer work. He especially enjoys spending time with his family and is extremely proud of his two children.
His son is attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and will be starting dental school to follow in his father's footsteps and take over the family dental practice. His daughter is attending Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, with a focus in child psychology.
Along with his commitment to your oral health and cosmetic goals, Dr. Kohani also spends much of his time volunteering his services to children in need. Through the Fresh Start program, Dr. Kohani transforms the lives of children and their families by performing reconstructive surgery for those with congenital deformities, injuries or diseases. Dr. Kohani also opens his office several times per year for dental clinics.
The goal of Fresh Start is to build a community of skilled volunteers who are capable of enriching the lives of younger patients. With early-action treatment, children can grow up with a positive self-image and confidence as a result.
Not only does Fresh Start provide one-time treatment, but also they build a community that helps maintain relationships between doctors and patients for continuous care. The average reconstruction patient requires close to 49 procedures until they reach a functional and aesthetically pleasing outcome. For Fresh Start and its treatments to be effective, doctors and their patients must create bonds that last several years.
Throughout the calendar year, Fresh Start hosts between six and seven weekends where volunteers perform treatment at the Rady Childrens Hospital in San Diego. For patients who require follow-up procedures, volunteers can continue treatment once the surgical weekend is complete.
Additionally, an orthodontist may provide dental clinics, which are held in their personal office. Thirteen times per year, Dr. Kohani will treat not only disadvantaged children but also provide educational experiences that teach his patients how to care for their teeth and gums on an everyday basis.
Dr. Kohani believes that everyone should have access to dental care, especially younger patients. Preventative care will ensure that any severe conditions are monitored and treated before they progress, which is especially so for children. By working with Fresh Start, Dr. Kohani can support his local community and be a part of a common goal to make healthy teeth a possibility for every patient.

This office deserves 1,000 stars. Dr. Kohani and his staff are amazing. Everyone is very professional and knowledgeable. Most importantly, they are honest. Trusting someone with your teeth is so difficult, especially, if you've had negative experiences with other providers like I have. I was really amazed how comfortable and safe I felt in their hands. I am so thankful that I found this place. You can tell that they really care about their patients. I was able to get treatment for a personal and complex problem I was having with my teeth for years and I am VERY satisfied with the results. I would highly recommend La Jolla Cosmetic Dentistry and Orthodontics to anyone!

Went in for a teeth cleaning and it was the most comprehensive cleaning I've ever had! It was a little uncomfortable in the moment, but the end result was worth it. I was also considering Invisalign, but the doctor informed me that it was not necessary for teeth health and would mainly be for cosmetic purposes... He did not try to sell me on this expensive procedure just for the sake of it, which was greatly appreciated! Talented and personable staff at this office! I recommend this place to anyone that wants great care and wants their questions answered in detail.

Like many of us I dread going to the dentist. I know it is self care and important but my body tightens up and I get a bit reactive at the very thought of it. I recently moved to Dr. Kohani's care after my long time provider retired and I cannot be happier about the excellence in staff, service and dentistry. Dr. Kohani is transparent about what he is doing, discusses what is recommended and what he would leave alone. The best part, after getting two teeth worked on this morning, is that he was absolutely painless. Even the injection of anesthetic, something I didn't know was possible. My wife recently had major work done and the results are astonishing. He shaped the teeth to her face and mouth making her more beautiful than ever. Dr. Kohani and office are the best team ever and I am glad to have found my way to them. Peace.

Dr. Kohani and his team are the nicest dentists. I am one of those poor individuals that absolutely hates going to the dentist. I had bad experiences with them as a kid and yet I don't mind going to Dr. Kohani's office. They're so good, take such good care of my teeth and make the whole experience as enjoyable as possible. I mentioned to Dr. Kohani that I was nervous about getting some cavities filled and he reassured me and actually saved one of my teeth from needing a full root canal. I cannot express how grateful I am to have found Dr. Kohani's office!

If I can rate them with zero stars I would This is a review that has been long overdue. My teeth has been destroyed and now have permanent damage due to getting work done from this location. I have been left traumatized to which I want and need to be sedated for any future dental work. They did procedures that were not even necessary to begin with, mess around with teeth that were perfectly fine and did not have issues. It was such a horrible experience that after coming here I didn't want to go or see a dentist anymore. They billed my insurance for work that was unfinished. Because of what they did to my teeth I have lived with pain, trauma and so many more dental problems than I began with. I DO NOT at all cost recommend this place. Now I have no choice but to find the courage and hopefully a great dentist to fix the damages they have done. I regret everyday ever trusting them with my teeth.

I went in as a new patient and everyone was extremely helpful and friendly! During the exam, I could tell that the staff cares about their patients health and happiness. Dr. Kohani explained things wonderfully and helped me realize things that I do that are preventing me from having my best smile and also provided ways to work on them. I'm very excited to be a patient and would recommend this place to anyone!

Received sound advice about an ongoing issue with one tooth (i.e. sensitive to cold and irritated when biting down). Both the hygienist and doctor are taking extra care to ensure they have tried everything on their end to resolve the issue before referring me to a specialist for root canal. They are being extremely thorough, and I greatly appreciate their concern and resourcefulness. And this same type of expertise/skill, service, attitude, and care emanates throughout every member of Dr. Kohani's staff. My spouse and I are customer's at this establishment because of the quality service, friendly and caring staff, and their never-ending goal to exceed your expectations.

Extremely unpleasant experience. Disorganized office. Rude personal at the front desk. There is a better customer service at DMV than this office! They lied about scheduling my appointment while actually never did. Huge mess. My appointment was not 15 minutes late but 1 week late because computers in the office were down and receptionists forgot to call and schedule another appointment which delayed my treatment by 1 week. Is there explanation for that or only patients being held accountable for being 10 min late? (it also took 5 min for your stuff to acknowledge my presence). I was never rude and I was trying to de-escalate situation for entire time. Don't ever go there if you value your time. They will forget about your appointment completely but if you are a few minutes late, you will be turned away because all they care about is about taking as much money as they possibly can and filling chairs minute by minute. Greedy and don't care about patients. Keep in mind I'm pregnant and have hard time walking and that was the reason why I was a few minutes late but well they couldn't care less. They also took their time to check me in and only after announced that I was apparently too late ( it was under 15 min). I offered to wait until something becomes available but it still wasn't good enough - a lady at front desk was literally pushing me out of the office. However when you on time be ready to wait good 30-35 minutes (in empty office). Save your money and go somewhere else. I deeply regret I ever decided to go there. I even considered to go to a different office on the middle of the treatment even though it was going to cost me even more but only because my treatment was almost finished and I didn't have to visit the office any longer so I decided to stay. At first I thought it will be my new dental office but now I just hope my foot will never have to step in there ever again

My first visit with dr. Kami and his staff were 100% satisfied. I have to apologize for being a bit late for my appointment. My meeting with Dr. Kami Kohani was very informative. His love for dentistry shows when he explains what he thinks would be a good plan for your teeth. The staff is amiable and professional. I'm looking forward to continuing working with Dr. Kami.

My first experience at this office. Dr Aramoon was efficient, professional and friendly. Jill, the Dental Hygienist has a very soft touch and is technically skilled. The Dental Assistant (forgot her name) who did my CXR's was friendly and competent. The admin at the front desk (forgot her name) was stellar in her competence and efficiency. A very good experience all around.

I have been a patient of Dr. Kohani's now going on 10 years and I couldn't be more pleased. My wife is a dentist, as it happens, and she and her colleagues have issued many compliments regarding the quality of the work on display in my mouth. Believe me, I've asked. Kohani is not just a solid dentist who consistently produces excellent and durable work, he approaches the level of artist when it comes to aesthetics and cosmetic concerns. I'm not exaggerating. His lead, Ana, is likewise excellent and a true pro. The hygienist there, Jill, is the best I've ever experienced. Highest marks to this office.
