Our Mission Our dental practice is dedicated to helping patients achieve optimal oral health. All staff members are involved in helping patients receive appropriate care and teaching patients how to care for their particular dental needs. We strive to create a comfortable, supportive environment.
Dr. Powell moved to Ukiah in 2000 to take advantage of the quality of life offered by a smaller community. She has one daughter, Amelia, who graduated from Ukiah High School in 2009. Her husband, Scott Hegan, is a local glass artist. Her hobbies include reading, hiking, yoga, and travel. She sponsors various soccer clubs, and contributes to a variety of local organizations.

Dr. Powell and her staff are amazing! I am a nervous wreck when it comes to my teeth and the girls there know just how to help calm my nerves and make me feel at ease! To top it off, they are amazing with children, as well! I highly recommend Dr. Powell!

I've been going to Dr. Powell for over 15 years. And every visit has been positive and caring. Dr. Powell and all the folks in office know all about my health needs and my teeth and they remember me from my visit to visit. They always explain everything about how I'm doing teeth-wise, what I need to do to take care of my dental health, answer any question I have about what I can do to keep my teeth strong. They also make me feel like I'm an important person while I'm there, no rushing me in and out. They take the time to make me feel comfortable no matter what procedure they are doing, explaining each step ahead of time so I know what to expect. They are careful not to over expose me to too many x-rays, only doing them initially and over timely cleaning visits as needed. I know how anxieties can arise over dental visits, fear of pain etc. But I have to say that I've never had painful experiences there. Also when doing some complex procedure, they have offered extra pillows, music, etc to enhance a calming atmosphere. They explain all the costs and thoughtfully ask about insurance, payments, etc. I recommend going to Dr Powell and her team to all my friends who need a caring dentist.

Competent, professional, friendly, and cordial, are all words that come to mind when I go into Dr Powell's office. My teeth have never been in better shape, and I'm treated like an important patient at every step of my dental care. Dr Powell provides the best dental care I've ever had in my life. Regular check ups and cleanings keep me knowing that I'm going to keep my original teeth for the rest of my life.

I've been a patient of Dr Powell's for over 12 years and have to say she is the best. She is kind, honest, listens to my concerns, and does great work. I had a tooth that was hurting when I chewed. Dr Powell fixed it quickly with no problems. The staff was great to deal with. I like everyone there. Dr Powell is an excellent dentist. She cares about the health of all her patients, provides the highest quality service and manages a GREAT staff. She is a first class choice for dental care in Mendocino county.

Virginia Powell is an extraordinarily skillful technical dentist. Her work is absolutely top-shelf. But what is truly exceptional about her practice is her caring and considerate manner that puts patients at ease and allows them to make considered judgements about care. She is especially gifted as a child's dentist--sensitive and caring, authoritative when she needs to be. It is no accident that she is the dentist of choice for parents choosing for their children. In my case, Virginia was faced with a senior with all his original teeth, but most of them with fillings that were failing, tooth walls that were cracking, and gums that were receding. I never knew that seniors could benefit from fluoride treatment. I learned to floss more regularly under her care. And believe it or not, at age 70 I still have every one of my original chompers--much repaired & crowned as they are. I have been lucky in my life to have had great care from a series of dentists, beginning with Dr. Belen, in Dearborn Michigan who did not believe in anesthesia and sometimes pulled teeth with his fingers. Dr. Powell is at the very head of that list. Virginia is also probably 1 of the top 5 people you will meet in your life. Good luck!

Everytime I go to Dr. Powells office I am always greeted with the friendliest staff and professionalism. Dr. Powell provides quality dental care and you always leave with confidence. My family recommends them to anyone in need of a great dentist.

Dr. Powell is the BEST of the best. I've had quite a bit of dental problems and have been to many dentists. I'm deathly afraid of going to the dentist... that is, until I met Dr. Powell. She is so gentle and upfront about everything she is going to be doing, that it made me feel comfortable for the first time in my life at a dentist office. I even drive 3 hours just to see her. I NEVER thought I'd find a dentist that could keep me calm during a visit. If you're anxious when it comes to the dentist and want someone that understands your anxiety, then Dr. Powell is the dentist for you!! She really cares about her patients and won't do anything to you that hasn't been discussed first. I had a dentist where I live tell me that I needed not 1 but 2 root canals and so I went to Dr. Powell for a 2nd opinion and she was able to avoid both of those root canals. Like I said, she won't do anything that is unnecessary and she certainly isn't one of those dentists that are just out to make as much money as they can. I trust her so much that I took my only son to her for his 1st dental exam. She really is the best of the best. And the whole office staff is so welcoming and friendly. I give Dr. Powell and her entire staff an A+++. Thank you ladies for always taking care of me!!
