Dr. Scott recently received the Academy of General Dentistry highest honor, the Lifelong Service and Recognition Award. It is awarded to outstanding clinicians who have proven their excellence clinically and academically. This honor represents over 2500 hours of dental continuing education with 500 being hands on participation clinical continuing education in all aspects of general dentistry including oral pathology, TMD and head and neck pain, along with review of the basic sciences such as pharmacology, head and neck anatomy, along with dental materials and all associated physics and material sciences and associated engineering principles applied with the study of implants and Crown and Bridge Dentistry.

Having a full-time practice in general dentistry with special emphasis in reconstructive dentistry, aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry, and temporomandibular joint disorders in West Monroe, LA. Dr. Scott also provides care for patients with sleep disorders and Special Needs Patients. More recently he has expanded his treatment to include Botox treatment on the face. He first received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA before receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. The LSU School of Dentistry is celebrating 50 years!

Since then, Dr. Scott has traveled extensively in order to take thousands of hours of post-graduate education from the finest clinicians and researches in dentistry. He has based his dental office upon a commitment to excellence in both quality care and staff. Dr. Scott actively supports dental education as a long-time student of Dr. Michael Schusters Center for Professional Development in Scottsdale, AZ He was also a student of Dr. Pete Dawsons Center for Advanced Dental Studies in St. Petersburg, FL and Dr. Earl Pounds Branching Complete Denture Technique, as mentored by Dr. Jack Turbyfill.

Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Scott has been involved with dentistry and athletics. He served as President of The Academy for Sports Dentistry from 1996-97, and he was the designer and developer of the Scott All-Sports Performance Mouthguard (1988). He was also the team dentist for the University of Louisiana at Monroe Athletic Department from 1986 till 2013 and he was the team dentist for the Monroe Moccasins for the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 hockey seasons. He also works with professional, Olympic, collegiate, and local athletes.

As Implant Dentistry has evolved, Dr. Scott has continued his extensive training in Implant Dentistry. With the advent of Clear Choice hybrid dentures systems, Dr. Scott has expanded his training through the Zimmer Institute in All on 4 Dental implant systems. The fabrication of a dental prosthesis for the upper or lower dental arch all supported by 4 or 5 or 6 implants has opened a new dimension of dental treatment for persons who have lost all their teeth on either dental arch. Dr. Scotts interest in dental esthetics lead into the natural extension of facial esthetics with training in Botox and Dermal fillers in 2016 with Dr. Gigi Meinecke of FACES Esthetics of Potomac, Maryland. Dr. Scott has added Botox and Dermal fillers of the Esthetic Zones of the Face to his dental office.

In addition to his extensive training, he is also a Fellow in every occasion with The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, as well as a Fellow in the Academy for Sports Dentistry, and a Master in The Academy of General Dentistry. In 2004, Dr. Scott attained the level of Master in the Academy of General Dentistry.

MAGD stands for Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. Earning Mastership takes dedication to dental continuing education (CE) beyond graduation. Less than 2 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Masters. Dr. L. King Scott is a member in good standing of the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, and the Fifth District Dental Association. He was President of the Northeast Louisiana Dental Association in 2007 and received the Northeast Louisiana Dental Association Dentist of the Year Award in 2008. Dr. Scotts leadership in Legislative activities both at the State level in Baton Rouge and in Washington D.C. has earned him a place at the Washington Leadership Conference from 2008 to 2018.

In 2009, the Academy of General Dentistry awarded Dr. Scott the Lifetime Learning and Service Recognition Award, making him just the 67th dentist in the U.S. to receive this award. In 2010, Dr. Scott was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Dentists. The Pierre Fauchard Society invitation for membership came in 2013. 2015-2016, found Dr. Scott as President of the Louisiana Dental Association. In 2015, he was inducted as a Fellow in the International College of Dentists. His skill and excellence in his daily dental practice continued which lead to his recognition in so many wonderful ways.

He was recognized by the Louisiana Dental Association with the 2013 LDA Distinguished Service Award, as well as the 2013 NELDA Distinguished Service Award. He also served as the Director to the Louisiana Dental Association from 2012-2013. 2014 found Dr. Scott as President Elect of the Louisiana Dental Association with 2015-2016 being his years of leadership of the Louisiana Dental Association speaking for the 2400+ dentists of Louisiana. Dr. Scott continues to represent Dentistry as a delegate to the American Dental Association in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018.

Dr. Scotts leadership skills will take a new direction in 2019 as he become the Speaker of the House of Delegates of the Louisiana Dental Association along with leading the Louisiana Dental Association Foundation from which the funds for the Missions of Mercy Dental events for persons underserved are cared.

In 2017-2018, Dr. Scott led the American College of Dentists Louisiana Section as Chairman. During this same period he was also Chairman of the Louisiana Section of the American College of Dentists Convocation proceeding.

His continued goal of excellence in dental health care and service to the people who entrust their oral health along with the leadership in his profession has led Dr. Scott to earn this Lifetime Award from the Academy of General Dentistry.

On a more personal level, Dr. Scott and his wife Kari have been major supporters of the LSU School of Dentistry. Both he and Kari are each members of the prestigious LSUSD Committee of 100. They have continued their financial support as a Sustaining Partner in the expansion and renovation of the LSU School of Dentistry. Dr. Scott has been a Director on the LSU School of Dentistry Alumni Association from 2011 to the present. In 2017, he was elected President-elect of the LSU School of Dentistry Alumni Association. For 2018-2019, Dr. Scott will be leading the Alumni Association for the New Orleans Health Science Center School of Dentistry.

You will find Kari and King most Sunday mornings attending First United Methodist Church in Monroe. You will also find him regularly teaching a Sunday School Class, whether the one he and Kari regularly attend or another. On Mondays you will find him playing his tenor saxophone in the Twin City Community Band and on Tuesday practicing with the Rustown Band for the Ruston Peach Festive or Rustown Christmas Concert. He is also an active member of the Greater Ouachita Kiwanis Club and Benjamin Tennille Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Dr. Scotts dad had traced his family history to 1273 AD.
