Dr. Smith was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma but grew up in Powder Springs, Georgia, graduating from McEachern High School. He attended the University of Georgia for his undergraduate degree where he chose to pursue his love of biology, graduating with a Bachelors of Science. While at UGA, he met his lovely wife Laura. They married in 2009 and have three children, Henry, Margaret 'Molly' and Campbell who keep their parents on their toes.
Dr. Smith attended the former Medical College of Georgia, now the Dental College of Georgia, and afterward completed a General Practice Residency at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Dr. Smiths additional training allows our practice to offer more services than ever before, truly allowing for us to serve all of your familys dental needs. After his residency, Dr. Smith practiced in Marietta before joining Dr. Raper at our Buckhead practice. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, Georgia Academy of General Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Society, and the Northern District Dental Society.
He and his wife Laura love being in Atlanta, near their family and friends. They are excited to raise their family in Atlanta near both sets of grandparents. Dr. Smith is devoted to our community, providing dental care to the Atlanta Children's Shelter. In his spare time, Dr. Smith enjoys the great outdoors, running, cycling, and like Dr. Raper, taking photographs.
Angie attended the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh as a biology and pre-dental major and comes to our office with over twenty years of business and clinical experience ranging from reception, insurance, billing and collections, dental assisting, training and management. You will typically find her at the front desk, but on occasion she dons a mask and gloves and assists Dr. Smith during your procedure.
Julie graduated Cum Laude from Lanier Technical College in 2005 after working as a dental assistant for four years. Upon graduation she was voted by her fellow classmates and professors to receive the Hugh Friedy Golden Scaler Award, which is given once a year to the most outstanding dental hygiene student. After having her here in our office, everyone sees why Julie's skills have merited such praise. Her dedication to her patients has made her a valuable member of our practice.
