The Myth: Patients searching the Internet for information on root canals may find sites claiming that teeth receiving root canal (endodontic) treatment contribute to the occurrence of illness and disease in the body. This false claim is based on long-debunked and poorly designed research performed nearly a century ago by Dr. Weston A. Price, at a time before medicine understood the causes of many diseases.

In the 1920s, Dr. Price advocated tooth extractionthe most traumatic dental procedureover endodontic treatment. This resulted in a frightening era of tooth extraction both for treatment of systemic disease and as a prophylactic measure against future illness.

The Truth: There is no valid, scientific evidence linking root canal-treated teeth and disease elsewhere in the body.A root canal is a safe and effective procedure. When a severe infection in a tooth requiresendodontic treatment, that treatment is designed toeliminatebacteria from the infected root canal, preventreinfection of the tooth andsavethe natural tooth.

  • The presence of bacteria in teeth and the mouth has been an accepted fact for many years. But the presence of bacteria does not constitute 'infection' and is not necessarily a threat to a person 's health. Bacteria are present in the mouth and teeth at all times, even in teeth that have never had a cavity or other trauma. Research shows that the healthy immune system takes care of bacteria in a matter of minutes.
  • Tooth extraction is a traumatic procedure and is known to cause a significantly higher incidence of bacteria entering the bloodstream; endodontic treatment confined to the root canal system produces much less trauma and a much lower incidence and magnitude of bacteria entering the blood stream.
  • There is no adequate replacement for the natural tooth - it should be saved whenever possible.Root canal treatment, along with appropriate restoration, is a cost effective way to treat infected teeth because it is usually less expensive than extraction and placement of an implant. In most cases, endodontic treatment allows patients to keep their natural teeth for a lifetime.
  • But what about Dr. Price? This is a good example of how the Internet can give new life to long-dispelled theories. Believe it or not, the misinformation about roots canals that is found on the Internet is still based on Dr. Prices century-old, discredited research. Dr. Prices research techniques were criticized at the time they were published, and by the early 1930s, a number of well-designed studies using more modern research techniques discredited his findings. In 1951, theJournal of the American Dental Associationtook the extraordinary step of publishing a special edition reviewing the scientific literature and shifted the standard of practice back to endodontic treatment for teeth with non-vital pulp in instances where the tooth could be saved. TheJADAreviewed Dr. Prices research techniques from the 1920s and noted that they lacked many aspects of modern scientific research, including absence of proper control groups and induction of excessive doses of bacteria.

Nothing can completely replace your natural tooth. An artificial tooth can sometimes cause you to avoid certain foods. Keeping your own teeth is important so that you can continue to enjoy the wide variety of foods necessary to maintain the proper nutrient balance in your diet. If your dentist recommends extraction, ask whetherroot canal treatmentis an option.

Endodontic treatment, along with appropriate restoration, is a cost-effective way to treat teeth with damaged pulp and is usually less expensive than extraction and placement of a bridge or an implant.

Millions of healthy endodontically treated teeth serve patients all over the world, years and years after treatment. Those healthy teeth are helping patients chew efficiently, maintain the natural appearance of their smiles and enhance their enjoyment of life. Through endodontic treatment, endodontists and dentists worldwide enable patients to keep their natural teeth for a lifetime.

I needed a root canal and called this place multiple times throughout the day, left voice messages and emailed as well and no one would ever answer or call back.

I had to go for basically an emergency root canal to save a tooth. The staff is awesome. Dr. Kutuza is very gentle he explains everything made me feel much better I was very nervous. My original appointment was a month and a half out. They got me in within 3 days. Even if you have to schedule out. They have a lot of cancellations. I was very pleased all around. The office is easy to find. The staff also listens to your concerns and doesnt make you feel silly about it. I would recommend Kutuza to anyone needing a root canal. They give insurance and cost with you upfront and if possible keep you from having to book numerous appointments.

Took my daughter here for a root canal, and the service was fantastic. From check in, service, and check out the entire process was friendly and professional. The DR spoke directly to my daughter in a way that she could understand and put her at ease, which was greatly appreciated. Couldn't recommend enough!

The dentist was OK. The office staff is worth negative stars. Their billing system is beyond horrible. My last visit to this office was in December of 2017 and at that time I submitted my insurance, paid what was requested by the office manager by credit card and went on my way. Yesterday, I received a collection notice in the for $468.45. I have not had any correspondence, bills or telephone communications with this office, yet they chose to send me to a collection agency. I will never use this dentist again.

This office fired an employee who refused to work during the government mandated quarantine (because she has an immunocompromised child)through a TEXT! Clearly this office is money driven without regard for the health and safety of patients and employees. Sad...

Care more about money than the safety and well-being of their patients and team. DO NOT support this business. To the detriment of their patients, they remained open during a pandemic despite recommendations of the government and their professional organizations.

I would not trust this place at all. They are full Of greed. Can you trust someone who puts how much money they make over the health of their employees and their patients? I wouldn't trust them at all with me or my family.

Firing a person to get out of paying them during this crisis is pathetic of your company!! You fired 2 employees one on medical quarantine and another a mother with a child who has a severely compromised immunesystem. Not to mention you did it through text messages at 10pm.

If I could give a negative score I would!! These people fired this poor woman via text when mandated to quarantine by the CDC. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I would never ever recommend anyone I love or care about go to this office run by Dr. Kutuza. How heartless of you!

I would give this "business" negative stars if I could and let me tell you why.... Would YOU support a business who at 10pm at night, texts an employee to FIRE them because she could not work due to the mandatory quarantine in place right now? Would YOU support a business who fires you to no fault of your own because they care more about money than the safety of their employees, patients and loved ones? Would YOU support a business who KNOWINGLY fired an employee who has a child with a terminal genetic disease because she has to keep her CHILD SAFE from being exposed to this virus? Would YOU protect your child? Would YOU support ANY business who would treat someone this way? Because if they will treat their employees with such disregard and disrespect, why would they treat their patients any differently? Do NOT SUPOORT THIS BUSINESS!
