Dr. Donald Kowalski graduated from Danvers High School, Boston University and Georgetown University Dental School and has been practicing dentistry for over 35 years! He strongly believes in staying current and attending continuing education classes every year. He is certified in diode lasers and is a Certified Cerec Doctor.
The office continually changes as he implements the newest materials in dentistry and practices the most modern techniques. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the North Shore District Dental Society.
Dr. Dawna Kowalski graduated from Danvers High School, Brown University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. After graduation, she completed a one year general practice residency at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She takes many continuing education classes each year to learn the most modern techniques and philosophies. Dr. Dawna enjoys all aspects of dentistry: surgical implant dentistry, surgical extractions, root canal therapy, pediatric cases, dentures, simple restorations and crowns and bridges. With the aid of our cone beam aided surgical guides, she is one of the few general dentists in the North Shore to place implants.
Dr. Dawna is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the North Shore District Dental Society. She is the North Shore District continuing education representative for the Massachusetts Dental Society. Dr. Dawna is the Beverly Public Schools dentist and a member of a Spear Study Club for continuing education in dentistry.
Dr. Carolyn Dietrich graduated from Colby College in 2000 with a B.A. in Biology. She obtained her D.M.D. from Boston Universitys Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2006. After dental school, she attended Boston Universitys advanced education in general dentistry program where she received a C.A.G.S. degree.
Dr. Sylvia Zannis joined Kowalski Dental in 2016. She completed her undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology at Michigan State University, and earned her D.D.S degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2015. She served as Social Chair of her dental school class and an executive board member of the Delta Sigma Delta fraternity. She was recognized with the Making A Difference Award for outstanding achievement in patient care. She pursued additional education at Boston University, in a one-year residency program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry earning a CAGS certificate.
Dr. Zannis is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the North Shore District Dental Society and a member of the Spear Study Club for continuing education in dentistry.
She was born and raised in Northville Michigan with her big loving Greek family. When she isnt practicing dentistry she enjoys exploring the coastal New England towns, skiing, college football Saturdays and playing with her Golden Doodle puppy, Ruby.

She received the prestigious 10 under 10 award from the Massachusetts Dental Society for being one of the top 10 young dentists in the state. Dr. Dawna served on the Continuing Education Board for the Massachusetts Dental Society for many years. She is an active member of a Spear Study Club for continuing education in dentistry.

I had a few great cleanings here. However most recently after waiting months for an appointment, and paying for child care, i showed up to the office to be told they no longer accept my insurance. While I understand things like that can happen I wish I was informed back in January when they said they stopped accepting it. Not after making an appointment waiting months and paying for childcare. Dr. Kowalski walked by and shrugged after hearing about my not being informed. I have also had bills sent to me in my name for other household members who have been patients there. The billing dept is a mess.

I just have to say that if you have any fear or anxiety about going to the dentist PLEASE go to Kowalski Dental !!! I have avoided going for too many years because of my extreme anxiety due to past experiences, but at the recommendation of a dear friend I gave it a try and I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL to the staff there and Dr Kowalski !!! I had a crown put on and two teeth that were chipping were filled... it was not only painless but a very good experience. Dr Kowalski is so patient and reassuring and his skills are superior ! Thank goodness for giving them a try - I will be a loyal patient from here on out !!!

Had a wonderful recent experience at Kowalski Dental. Between the dental hygienist and Dr. Avdagic, you truly couldn't ask for much more. Dr. Avdagic is personable and takes the time to explain everything in detail; it makes you feel acknowledged and like you are an integral part of your own care! Highly recommend!

Insurance Scam Beware! Office tried to charge me over $300 for fillings that my insurance covered. On top of that the co-pay I placed on my credit card was mysteriously left off of a bill they sent me. Fillings are already chipping save it's been less than a year. Also the rude front desk scheduling people have terrible attitudes and the practice manager could care less about how they treat patients. Find another dentist office if you can, this place is a rip-off.

I have been a customer for several years and have found them to be excellent quality of dentistry, both cleanings and fillings or crowns have been very professional, high quality. I was a Gentle Dental customer and left due to poor quality of dentistry, and have found Kowalski to be very good. Current process for dentist during Covid pandemic is very good.

Love Kowalski Dental! Very helpful and the prices for my boyfriend who doesn't have insurance were incredibly reasonable!! Also, Lynn gave the most gentle and amazing cleaning ever! My teeth look perfect! Ty team Kowalski! See you in 6 months!

I don't know where to begin...I stayed with them for years because I didn't know where else to turn, as I'm limited with my insurance, and I was honestly happy enough with my hygienist, Jim, which I saw twice a year. I loved him, both ethically and personally, our personalities meshed well and that made my 'teeth-clenching' experience a little bit better...UNTIL I was forced out of their office because they no longer take my insurance. But they didn't tell me this, I found out from a friend that they stopped taking it, so I called two days before my next cleaning appointment to confirm, where she then told me, no, they no longer accept my insurance. Nothing was ever done correctly (except for the cleanings) if you need a crown or a filling, don't expect professional work. Not even from Kowalski, not even from the new dentist they took on this year. And not to mention the conversation that went on constantly every appointment, without fail, between the dentist and the dental assistant...gabbing about personal affairs, like I was just a fly on the wall, only I was their patient, with my mouth open. I don't ever except professionalism ALL OF THE TIME, I'm human, but the consistency of unprofessionalism in this office, year after year, on top of the terrible "fillings" they do...every filling shouldn't create yet another 'food trap'...I'd recommend finding another office. Not to mention the turnover rate of Their staff, I was uncomfortable going there, so I guess I'm glad I was forced to part ways.

What a fabulous experience I had yesterday with Doctor Dawna! Annie was so efficient at the desk and lovely and pleasant. Michelle was an excellent assistant and took good care of me. The expertise of Dr Dawna was truly awesome. I walked out with a crown and she was able to do my overdue cleaning which was wonderful. I'm going back and staying :) Thank you Kowalski Dental!! And the OfficeMax pristine and clean as well!

A very warm and friendly staff who go out of their way to help you. Easily accessed by wheelchair. Dr. Kowalski is the best. His kind and professional manner put me at ease and his genuine concern for my well-being was outstanding!
