The staff at Koup Family Dental is also a family. The majority of the hygienists have been part of the practice for 20+ years. The bonds and relationships we have formed are strong: some patients even report they look forward to an office visit just to see their dental team! At our front desk, the office manager has been greeting people, fighting for their benefits and assisting Dr. Koup for over 20 years as well.

Dr. Rick Koup is a native of Paoli and a graduate of Great Valley High School and Ursinus College. Upon graduation from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1974, he joined the United States Air Force, treating both active-duty and retired service men and women through 1977.
Returning home to Paoli after honorable discharge from the Air Force, Dr. Koup opened his private practice on Paoli Pike. Very soon after, he started his faculty affiliation with Penn Dental, an affiliation that continued through the early 2000s.
He earned a Certificate in General Practice Dentistry after completing a residency at York Hospital in 2005, and in 2011 he was awarded Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. He has been recognized by his peers as a top dentist in both Philadelphia Magazine and Main Line Today.
Dr. Mark is also on the faculty at Penn Dental Medicine. He is currently Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dentistry and the Director of Comprehensive Care Clinics at Penns Dental School. In addition, he lectures for several didactic courses for pre-doctoral students at Penn Dental as well as on dentistry at Penns School of Medicine.
Having practiced since 2005, Mark continues to stay active in the Academy of Stomatology and the Academy of General Dentistry both organizations dedicated to the pursuit of life-long learning. He also operates a company that provides dental exams for members of the armed services reserves on weekends.
As a graduate of the College Honors Program at Holy Cross, Dr. Lindsey was also awarded membership to multiple nationally recognized honor societies, including Alpha Sigma Nu, Eta Sigma Phi, and Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Lindsey graduated Penn Dental School with honors in Community Oral Health and was the recipient of the Dr. Earle Banks Hoyt Teaching award.
Understanding the importance of professional collaboration, community, and continuing education, Dr. Lindsey is a member of the Main Line Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. Alongside Dr. Mark, Dr. Lindsey also provides dental exams for military reserve members on weekends.
Mary Anne Blackwood moved back to the Philadelphia area with her family after 10 years of living overseas where her husbands job had taken them. With a middle school, high school and college student at the time, she realized she wanted another challenge go to work!
For more than 25 years shes been assisting Dr. Koup chairside, working with insurance companies to process claims, acting as office manager, easing patients anxiety, answering questions about treatment/costs and, in some cases, a good place to eat. Mary Anne can attest to challenges a plenty and different services every day!
Family located across the U.S. and locally keep her busy. Military dental screening events are also on her schedule. She loves reading, spending time with her dog and grandchildren, and catching up with friends.

Truly Painless Dentistry I am a huge chicken when it comes to going to the Dentist. No worries when it comes to Koup Family Dentistry. You are in good hands. The staff is very caring and the doctors are superior. I have been a patient for many, many years. Each visit is comfortable from the moment I walk in and sit with the hygienist to making the next appointment. The facilities are state of the art, bright, and clean. There is plenty of parking, but train and transportation is super close. I promise your visit will be stress-free, absolutely have been.

If I could rate this place 10 stars, I would. I have always had terrible dental anxiety. I went to Koup family dental and saw Lindsey to fix some work from a previous dentist and to ask questions about my gum health. Not only did she give me a thorough consultation, she even brought in another dentist to give me his opinion too. This was the first time I've ever felt heard. I was not rushed and they never made me feel dumb about any questions I asked. They gave me an hour of their time and made sure I was completely comfortable before I left their office. I will recommend this place to everyone I know. Thank you so much for taking care of me. BEST dental experience I've ever had

Dr. Koup has been my family dentist for 30 years. We have always received excellent care in his practice whether for routine visits or unexpected emergencies. So much so that when we lived overseas for a period of time we would make sure to bring the whole family (including our three children) to see him for their yearly routine visits whenever we were back home for family leave. His staff has been with him for a long time and are very pleasant and competent. We have recently moved out of the area but make the 90" drive to continue to be able to have him provide the care we have always appreciated.

Today was the first time in my 71 years I experienced a great dental visit. The staff was wonderful and the doctor was truly a master at his trade. My wife has been going to Dr. Koup for 15+ years. I have been going to Dr. Koup for 10 years. Our kids go to Dr. Koup for 5+ years. Dr. Koup, his son and the entire staff are fantastic! Always friendly. Always helpful. Always kind.
