He continued on to the University of Arizona School of Dentistry for his Doctorate of Dental Medicine, and completed his formal education at the University of Minnesota, receiving his Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics.
He continued his education, focusing on the advancements in new wires, temporary anchorage devices, and laser treatment, which continues to make orthodontic treatment exciting and brings new challenges to the field. He's also a board-certified orthodontist.
Dr. Kottemann is dedicated to serving our community. He partners with Dental Lifeline Network to provide orthodontic care for elderly and disabled patients, giving expert care to those who may not otherwise have access.
When hes not creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Kottemann enjoys spending time with his wife, Laura, a pediatric dentist in the Anoka area. They have three children: twin girls, Valerie and Olivia, and one boy, Rian. They also have an incredibly naughty puppy named Louie.

Estimate of length of braces was spot on. Cost was high but they worked with us to get the price down and be competitive with others in the area. Consistently had good service at each appointment but most importantly had a great experience on the day braces were removed. The person who worked with my daughter was above and beyond great customer service. She explained everything she was doing and had a lot of fun. I could hear my daughter giggling from the waiting room! And her teeth look beautiful!

The people are very friendly, and it is apparent they want the best for their patients. The process went really well, only 15 months of braces. Transitioning into, taking them off, to now a nightly retainer has been very smooth. Very well done Kottemann Orthodontics.
