He continued on to the University of Arizona School of Dentistry for his Doctorate of Dental Medicine, and completed his formal education at the University of Minnesota, receiving his Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics.
He continued his education, focusing on the advancements in new wires, temporary anchorage devices, and laser treatment, which continues to make orthodontic treatment exciting and brings new challenges to the field. He's also a board-certified orthodontist.
Dr. Kottemann is dedicated to serving our community. He partners with Dental Lifeline Network to provide orthodontic care for elderly and disabled patients, giving expert care to those who may not otherwise have access.
When hes not creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Kottemann enjoys spending time with his wife, Laura, a pediatric dentist in the Anoka area. They have three children: twin girls, Valerie and Olivia, and one boy, Rian. They also have an incredibly naughty puppy named Louie.

My 8!year old daughter had her consultation today and it was fast and easy. They weee very informative and helpful. Excited to get her started with treatment.

My son started his orthodontics journey 3 months ago with Kottemann Orthodontics and so far we are very pleased! Scheduling has been easy and convenient. Every single staff member has been extremely friendly and helpful. They are wonderful at answering all of our questions while being patient and not pushy. And they make it very fun for my son to go through this process. He actually looks forward to going and loves to show his friends his braces. So far so good!!

An Orthodontist you can trust! I have been on a long journey between Invisalign, double jaw surgery, and Covid. The staff here are always very friendly, and they know what their doing. The orthodontists are equally as amazing and very knowledgeable. Dr.Kraig and my surgeon worked closely to ensure everything was properly discussed and coordinated regarding my specific case and tweaked everything to best fit my situation and goal outcome. Any questions or concerns can always be called in and they will do their very best to assist. The entire facility is very well kept and clean. It's nice to go to a practice where they are not just money hungry but rather they want to help and change your smile for the better. I am almost to the end of my Orthognathic and Invisalign journey and I can really see things coming together well and I'm so excited.

We were referred to Kottemann by our family dentist, and all I can say is they are wonderful! From the moment we walked in for our initial evaluation, they made us feel welcome and comfortable. My son was a little apprehensive and when he walked out of there he was actually EXCITED to get Invisalign. They were thorough, explained all of our options and timing of the treatment plan they were recommending. We had all of our questions answered by the end of the appointment. While we had been to another orthodontist for our older son, it was an easy switch to Kottemann. Highly recommend them!

I've been coming here for Invisalign. The dental assistants are the best! I like this place because of them. The doctor trusts them so much, on the last appointment, he didn't need to bother to check my teeth after we waited for so long.

Very Friendly and personal. While waiting for my appointment I watched the front staff that was friendly on the phone and in person to those they helped. They went above and beyond to go back to the doctor and check on additional needs for patients when their next appointment was a little further out. Excellent Service. I then met with Kari K and Dr Kraig. Even more of the same. Kari was Amazing and upbeat and made me feel extremely comfortable. Dr Kraig was very personal and took all the time I needed to answer all my questions. They are even coordinating my treatment with two other Dental offices, as I have a lot being worked on. EXCELLENT OFFICE with a Smile!

This place seriously could not get any better! My brother and I love this place and the staff are so efficient, knowable, and friendly! They have a points/reward system and make getting work on your teeth so fun! I highly recommend Kottemann!

I highly recommend Kottemann Orthodontics. They have great staff who are super helpful and are great at their jobs. They offer fun rewards programs for kids, and have a kid friendly environment. And thanks to them my smile has never looked better.

Overall I had a good experience. I had Invisalign for a little less than a year. With Invisalign it can be hard to guess how many months you will have it as throughout the process you will have adjustments to your treatment which is normal. I like the fact that you can freely eat your favorite foods while having Invisalign. I had braces as a kid so comparing my two experiences, I liked having Invisalign. Also, no one could ever tell! They don't hurt but make sure you use the case they come with because losing them or throwing them away can be expensive! This orthodontist facility is very welcoming. The staff and the orthodontists are always nice and willing to help your reach your best smile. They will also work with your financials as treatment can be expensive! Overall good experience.

Great experience at Kottemann! The Doctors do not push unnecessary treatment, they are honest and forthright regarding treatment options and willing to answer any questions you have. Our daughter's experience with her braces was positive and we are happy with the results.

I went here years ago. Terrible experiences. I got braces here and had them create a fake tooth on a retainer. The braces were taken off way sooner than they should have been. I still had an overbite right after they took the braces off and now I have had several dentists that question is I ever had braces at all with how crooked my teeth are. I have TMJ issues and they think it's due to misalignment with teeth. With the fake tooth on a flipper retainer, I was never satisfied with how the color looked compared to my other teeth nor the size of the tooth. Dr Kotteman didn't seem to notice the issue, but other people told me they did with the coloring.
