Each of our staff members is part of a team of highly qualied health care professionals with many years of experience in the orthodontic field. You will nd all of them to be very warm, caring, and knowledgeable. They participate in continuing education courses annually to stay current on the latest techniques and procedures.
Good communication and understanding are the keys to an excellent working relationship with our patients. Our staff strives to maintain excellent communication between patients, parents, and referring doctors. Our staff is prepared to answer your questions and provide you with any information necessary throughout your treatment.
Dr. Tommy Koen graduated from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY with a major in biology and a double minor in biophysics and chemistry. He continued his studies at the University of Louisville Dental School, earning his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD). Dr. Koen received his orthodontic certificate from the University of Louisville Orthodontics school.
Dr. Koens professional affiliations include: the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, the Tennessee Dental Association and the Tennessee Society of Orthodontists. Dr. Koen is a member and past president of the Hendersonville Rotary Club, the Hendersonville Chamber of Commerce and the Sertoma Club of Hendersonville.
In his free time Dr. Koen enjoys golfing, tennis and sport fishing. He is also a licensed personal pilot, and flies planes as well as helicopters. He and his wife, Dr. Mary Cay Koen, also an orthodontist, share many interests including: scuba diving, snow skiing, and spending time with their two children, Thomas and Michael. Dr. Koen and his family regularly attend First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville where Mary Cays father, Ben Alexander, served as Pastor Emeritus.

Our family has had the best experience at Koen Orthodontics. Every single step of the way has been wonderful. From the initial consultation to the final results we are so pleased with. We have put two teenagers through treatment and it was so easy to afford with their no interest payment option! We are so grateful they offer this! Two of my children have been through here for orthodontics and I'm sure the next two will need them as well. Dr. Koen has been a wonderful team for my kids. They have both enjoyed their visits and felt comfortable going in by themselves during Covid when it was difficult for all of us to manage without extra family members running about. The staff has always been amazing and helpful we've loved it here. Nothing but great things to say!

Koen Orthodontics is a great place to go to, particularly of you are an adult. I'm retired and decided that my teeth could use a little straightening so I picked them after reviewing their website. I was not disappointed. I had decided that I wanted the Invisalign aligners and went in for an evaluation which was very comprehensive. The visit ended with Dt. Koen explaining the treatment plan and what to expect. They provided various payment plans and gave me a packet with all the information to make a decision. There was never any pressure to make a decision, they just provided the information for me to make it. I obviously decided to move ahead with the plan which was for 28 weeks. Dr. Koen and the staff are fabulous. Appointments were always on time and everyone is extremely helpful and kind. They always make you feel comfortable. I just finished my last aligner tray and am now on the retainer portion of the treatment. My teeth look great. I can't believe how easy the whole process was. I wasn't sure what it was going to be like for an older adult to go through the process but it was a breeze. I highly recommend Dr. Koen and his staff to anyone who wants their teeth look better, I'm glad I did!

Dr Koen and staff are amazing! They are all very friendly. They work fast but also take the time to listen to any concerns I may have and I have never felt rushed. They have been excellent at walking me through the entire process. I am always in my appointment at or very close to my scheduled time. The office is very clean and welcoming with plenty of seating in the waiting area. Most importantly I love my new smile!

Dr Koens staff is freindly and go out of their way to explain to the children what is happening during their visit. Compared to others in the area they ate reasonably priced.
