He was born and raised in Knoxville, attended Webb High school, and received his dental degree from UT Meharry Medical School of Dentistry in 1999. After finishing his endodontic residency at Boston University in 2003, he returned to East Tennessee to join Knoxville Endodontics with now-retired Dr. Bill Powell and Dr. Frank Balaban.
He has lived in Knoxville since he was six years old, the only exception being when he studied to earn his undergraduate degree at Furman University in 2001, degree in dentistry at UT-Memphis in 2005, and certificate in endodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2008. His says of his work at Knoxville Endodontics, I know that a lot of people can be nervous, given the prospect of having a root canal,particularly if theyve not had one before. It is my aim to make them comfortable, alleviate their fears, and make the process as easy as possible for them.
After graduating from undergraduate college with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics, Dr. Ballard worked for Mercedes Benz and Daimler-Chrysler for several years, including some time in Germany. He then entered Dental School and after graduating, did an Advanced Education General Practice where he gained extensive training in implants, grafting, and IV sedation. It was then that he was accepted into the Endodontic Residency at UAB to obtain his specialty certificate in Postgraduate Endodontics. He and his wife, Alicia, and their growing family of five children enjoy time together on their farm. They feel the Knoxville area is a perfect fit for them.

This was my second root canal with Dr Scott. It was easy and as enjoyable as possible for a root canal. He did a great job and his assistant Scarlet was top notch. I would definitely return to their office!!

From beginning to end if you have to have a root canal this is a good place to come. They got me in for an appointment quickly and when I arrived they were ready to take me in for the procedure. The nurse was professional, and through while being thoughtful throughout. Dr. Scott put me at ease during the procedure and quickly did the job. They advised what to expect afterwards so all in all a good experience. Two days later and feeling better Thanks for the care!

I've only been in the area for a year & my general dentist referred me to Knoxville Endodontics. Yesterday, Dr. Ballard & assistant Brittany did a root canal for me. IT WAS THE EASIEST, MOST PAIN-FREE DENTAL PROCEDURE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!! Dr. B & Brittany were kind, compassionate and SO funny! I appreciate what they did for me. And I forgive Dr. Ballard for being an Alabama fan . Go VOLS!

From the moment I walked in till I left everyone was outstanding! The office staff was very friendly and professional. Dr. Ballard and his assistant were excellent. They were very friendly and very informative about the complete procedure. I was very impressed with everyone and will definitely return if the need arises! I highly recommend them. They are great!!

I'll preface this review by acknowledging that, working in the medical field, I'm very selective in the providers that my family sees. Dr. Ballard came highly recommended by someone in the field. He and his team went above and beyond to take care of my son when he knocked out an adult tooth playing baseball. We were able to see Dr. Ballard last minute late in the day. Dr. Ballard did a great job explaining everything, and made us feel better in a scary situation. Prescriptions, communication, and follow up could not have gone smoother. Everyone we've encountered at the office is friendly and caring. It's rare to find a provider with expertise, integrity, and a caring bedside manor. We found all of that and more with Dr. Ballard. I highly recommend giving his office a call if you find yourself in need of an Endodontist.

I've had two root canals by Dr. Scott and I can not brag enough about how wonderfully I was treated. I literally fell asleep during both procedures and had zero pain. Not even a little. The staff was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. They were patient and didn't make me feel like my appointment was being rushed. I had top notch care and have nothing negative at all to say.

I was in complete pain and called on Monday morning and asked if there was any way that they could work me in because the pain was almost intolerable and I knew I needed a root canal. The excellent staff called me back and got me in to see Dr. Myers (the same day) who did an absolute superb job. I will always use this group for endodontis.

My root canal was with Dr. Scott and Ms. Scarlett. They work great as a team. When people hear the word, "root canal" they think of pain, fear, and misery. This could not be farther from the truth. From the very beginning, I was made to feel welcome and comfortavble at Knoxville Endodontics. Ms. Scarlett did the initial check up and pre- procedure exam. She answered the questions I had about the procedure and helped put me at ease about getting a root canal. Dr. Scott also assured me that I would feel little to no pain during the procedure. He was 100% correct. I did not feel any pain or discomfort during or after my root canal. He also told me that it would only be about an hour and once again, he was true to his word. I had a great dental experience and was treated very well. The level of service and compassion that I received from Ms. Scarlett and Dr. Scott during my root canal was outstanding. I truly appreciate all their hard work and excellent service to me, their patient. I highly recommend, Knoxville Endodontics. Thank you both, Ms. Scarlett and Dr. Scott!!!

Dealt with pain for a couple of months and had a scheduled appointment for root canal. Office called due to cancellation and I accepted earlier appointment. All was fixed efficiently and staff were professional and friendly. Cared about my comfort and resolution of pain. Overall experience was great!

I had 2 root canals at one time with Dr. Ben Scott today. He is fantastic! He explains everything so well and there was no pain involved at all. If I ever need another root canal he will be the one doing it. The staff is nice and helpful also.

Dr. Scott completed two root canal repairs to my teeth and it was a great experience (as going to the dentist goes). Him and his assistant kept me comfortable and informed throughout the entire procedure. The work that was completed was, in my opinion, fine craftmanship, much beyond I expected.
