Over the past 30 years in the field, I feel incredibly fortunate to have the great responsibility of helping people improve their lives. I am in a people business the primary purpose of my work is to make people feel good about themselves. I chose orthodontics to reflect this purpose. I remain dedicated to providing the best care possible using the newest technology available that has proven to perform up to my high standards.
I attended Blue Valley High School before going to Pittsburg State University for my undergraduate work. I then attended University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry for my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. I finished my formal education at UMKC School of Dentistry, where I received my Orthodontic Certificate. I have since been involved in over 50 hours of continuing education every year. Recently I have returned to the UMKC Orthodontic Department as a clinical instructor to orthodontic residents.
I am absolutely committed to providing the best care to my patients and find that my involvement with the professional community is the best way to make that happen. I am involved with numerous professional organizations, including:
I find orthodontics to be a great combination of science, engineering, and art. It allows me to visibly see the effects of my work while improving my patients health. I believe that my work not only produces positive changes in teeth but also in attitudes. Orthodontics is life-changing and can improve peoples self-confidence and personalities. That is my goal in every treatment: to effect a positive change in my patients lives.
I strive to be patient and generous with each patient. I also focus on having a good time. However, I am genuinely serious about each patients care, and still find myself learning and seeing things I have never encountered before. I find the developments in technology to be very exciting, and love the idea of finding new and improved ways to treat my patients.
I think its important to participate in organizations that aid people in our area. I am involved in Smiles Change Lives, Prince of Peace Church, Shadow Buddies Foundation, YMCA, Donated Dental Services, and the Kansas Mission of Mercy. I believe that through this involvement I can better my community and inspire others. My secret hope is that I can inspire someone to be a dentist or an orthodontist and help others as well.
I grew up in Wichita, KS and spent most of my youth there. In junior high, my family moved to Overland Park, KS, where I currently reside. I have been married for 30 years. I have always liked to fix and repair things, especially vehicles. I replaced the motors on my Cougar, Camaro, and Bronco. I also enjoy a good game of golf, hunting, bowling, and skiing.
Dr. Walker received his baccalaureate degree in neuroscience from Brigham Young University. Afterwards, he attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and was also awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy in Oral Sciences. Dr. Walker then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received his Orthodontic specialty certificate and was awarded a Masters of Science in Oral Biology for his research in 3-Dimensional cone beam computed tomography.
He continues to be involved in academics as an adjunct research faculty member at the University of North Carolina and as a part-time clinical instructor in the undergraduate orthodontics program at the University of Missouri Kansas City.
While his accomplishments are impressive, Dr. Walker considers his family to be the greatest success in his life. Dr. Walker has been married to his wife Teresa for 12 years. They have four children, twin girls, Annalise and Erica, Ethan and Christian.When not at the office, Dr. Walker enjoys spending time with his family and trying to teach his daughters to play golf.
Feel free to call me PJ. Before I began working here, I was a patient. I love working with kids, especially seeing shy kids turn into confident young people because of a beautiful smile. I also work to see that Klein and Walker Orthodontics does lots of fun events outside of the office with patients and the dental community. I have been happily married for 20 years. We have three kids and twodogs. I enjoy cooking and organizing things.
Whenever I help Dr. Klein with procedures, my goal is to help patients feel better about themselves and to create a fun atmosphere. It is incredible to see patients grow and change throughout our treatments, and I feel honored to be part of that process.
As an orthodontic assistant, I have the unique opportunity to help people and change their lives with a smile. Meeting new people and getting to know them over the course of their treatment is great! I always try to get patients to talk and be open, and I really enjoy getting to know them on a personal basis. No two people are ever the same! My coworkers are all such great assets to our team. We work together with a positive attitude and true concern for our patients.
I love making a difference in peoples lives. As a past orthodontic patient myself I understand the difference it can make to have a beautiful smile and feel confident about yourself. This makes my current role as an orthodontic assistant that much easier. I can totally relate to what each patient is going through! I enjoy the fun atmosphere in the office and contests that we always have going on involving our patients. We like to make it fun here for everyone!
I was raised in Arkansas but marriage brought me to Overland Park in 2010. It has been exciting creating a new life beside my wonderful husband and our dogs Lena and Lexi. I love nature, learning about different cultures and their food, and spending my free time with family.
I love being able to welcome patients for the first time and explain to them how we can make their smile beautiful! Its so fun to watch the transformation from the beginning of treatment to the end! I enjoy connecting with patients through our social media presence- whether its a contest or just fun posts from around the office!
I recently got married to my husband, Grant, and I love being a wife! Im a proud alumna of Kansas State University where I studied Public Relations. In my free time, I enjoy baking, shopping, event planning and watching endless amounts of House Hunters.
