In 1989, a Gaston County community-based indigent care task force composed of concerned citizens, business leaders, elected local officials, and representatives of Gaston Memorial Hospital, was formed to address the need of the growing uninsured population and the use of episodic emergency department care as an inappropriate substitute for primary care. The group was concerned with providing the right careat the right time, at the right place. The result was the establishment of Gaston Family Health Services (GFHS) with a mission to provide family healthcare to anyone in need, regardless of ability to pay. With technical assistances from the North Carolina Office of Rural Health, GFHS was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1991. GFHS saw its first patients in 1992 at the practice co-located within Gaston County Health Department building on Hudson Blvd. in Gastonia.

Today, our team of family medicine physicians, pediatricians, advanced practice providers, dentists, psychologists and behavioral health providers care for patients atover 25 practices throughout Alexander, Catawba, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Gaston, Iredell and Lincoln counties.

Our services include adult and pediatric primary and dental care, behavioral health counseling, pharmacy services, chronic disease education programs (diabetes, hypertension, weight loss), Medication Assistance Treatment, nutritional counseling, womens screening clinics, vision care,school-based medical, behavioral health and dental programs, HIV/AIDS Case Management and care management services for at-risk pregnant women and children.

2020 marks an exciting time for the organization in the transition to our new identity. In April, GFHS unveiled and began operating under a new brand name. That new identity, Kintegra Health better represents the collective talents of over 500 staff members, and the comprehensive and integrated care we provide through core and enabling support services and special programming.

Kintegra employs an array of ancillary staff members who make up our Advanced Care team. These team members are in addition to your primary care provider. They serve in the role as panel managers, diabetes educators, licensed clinical social workers and pharmacists, and provide additional information and support in managing your health. Our Advanced Care team members at each site are are listed below.

Dr Works and her entire team have ALWAYS been so kind to me and my kids/babies. They go above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and meet our needs, even if we need a hand to squeeze. If I need to reschedule there's never any attitude or hassle. Those ladies are the absolute sweetest and my go to for my dental care! -p.s the office does sliding scale pay based off your income

This dental office is the best one I've ever been too. They are very friendly, and courteous. All the nurses are Exceptional and knows their craft very well. And Dr Work is phenomenal. She takes her time with her patients and explains what she's going to do. I can't say it enough but she is awesome. She is the only one that I trust with my dental needs. Me and family will be coming back here.

The people in the desk are always telling the people there phones don't work please when I had appointments for my kids. I was waiting in the lobby. A lady drove 32 minutes to make appointment for her son and a lady said that she was keep calling and calling like 25 times and the phone was just ringing and ringing and since no one was answering the phone she drove and the people in the Desk were saying that the phone wasn't working that was a lie. THEY WHERE TO BUSY LAUGHING AND IGNORING THE CALLS. But Dr.Alyssa Works she's so friendly and kind and sweet. Her nurse was too. I give them a 5 stars. But the people in the desk in the front desk they should at least work professional and start answering phone calls supposedly this going on for a whole 2 years I mean come on this is business and the phones are down like that they should get another company or call the company and let them know what's going on but of course they're not they're just lying to the people. I was calling today at 4:10 and no one answered at all on the website it says they close at 5 p.m. and of course they never answer I call again at 4:25 p.m. no answer I'll call again at 4:45 p.m. No answer at all. I call again at 4:50 p.m no answer and the website says they close at 5 PM they should still answer the phone calls at those times before 5 I feel sorry for the doctor because she's really nice I like how she works with my kids but the people in from the desk like I said they're not professionals.

First off my son had a cavity and said he needed a tooth removed and scheduled surgery without my approval. then I tried calling the dentist office several times and kept saying I was next person in line, the line ended up hanging up on me. Then they scared my son to death to the point he was scared to eat. And on top of all that they told me I was a bad mother for even allowing his mouth to be that way!! I'm sorry my son will never go there ever again! First visit we waited over an hour then got into the room waited 30 more minutes....

I have never been a fan of dentistry, not against the dentists. But this was the best experience I've ever had, they waited to make sure I was numb. That alone made me return, than I had a cleaning, something I've never enjoyed! Brooke was fantastic, I am so very pleased with all of them! I can't ever see me going anywhere else. Thank you Kintegra, you are truly dedicated to us.

I had an appointment at 1 on March 16. I went in there at 12:48 they were on a meeting and I asked if they were open she said they were. I told her I would just come back when they were finished with their meeting. I went outside and waited in my car. I didn't see any of their staff coming out of the meeting I called at 1:10 to ask if their meeting was over. The receptionist told me "I was technically late to my appointment" and that it was cancelled. She said she was going to put me back on the waiting list I was on their waiting list for approximately 6 months before they called me to my last appointment. When I went in there they never mentioned that they were on regular schedule regardless of the meeting. All that time waiting in my car and me having to take my son to a babysitter for nothing.
