I love orthodontics. I love the challenge of creating healthy and beautiful smiles. I love the people I get to meet and interact with on a daily basis. I love taking care of my patients and giving them a smile that they can be proud about.

Ive been blessed to have some fantastic people come before me. My Grandfather, Dr. Ben King, started the practice in 1953. He was an incredible orthodontist and an incredible man. My father, Dr. Jack King, followed in his example and together formed an awesome team. Their goal was to treat their patients to the highest standards of orthodontics and customer service and they did it with great passion.

I am proud to have grown up in Dayton, Ohio. I was fortunate to know I wanted to become an orthodontist at an early age. I attended The Ohio State University and received early admittance to Dental School because of my excellent undergraduate record. In addition tomyregular dental school courses, I took additional externships in occlusion, studying how teeth should fit together for proper health. I also did extensive research onthe genetics of cleft lip and palate.

Afterreceivingmy D.D.S. at O.S.U., I then gained acceptance to the Ivy League orthodontic residency at the University of Pennsylvania. I completeda three-year residency in orthodontics and receivedmy Masters of Science in Oral Biology. During that time, I also took additional training in facial and dental esthetics and function and completed the two-year course at the Roth-Williams Advanced Education in Orthodontics Program.

Upon graduation frommy residency, I joined my father in private practice in Dayton, Ohio. What an incredible privilege! Additionally, Iwas asked to be an instructor at the University of Pennsylvania whereI traveled back to teach orthodontic residents. At this time, I also earned my Board Certification and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, which I am very proud of.

Ive served on the Board of the Dayton Dental Society and have also been the youngest president of the Roth-Williams International Society of Orthodontics. Iam aproud member of the Super Schulman Study Group, the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Ohio Dental Association, andDayton Dental Society.

My greatest achievement, though, is marrying the love of my life, Gwyn. She makes me a better person and a better orthodontist. She has also blessed me with the two greatest joys of my life, Vivian and Jack.

Invisalign is used in order to correct the positions of the teeth over time by inducing slight pressure to move them. Since Invisalign is clear, they are hardly noticed even when smiling or talking. Aside from that, patients can also remove them while eating, brushing, or cleaning the appliances themselves. Invisalign will have to be worn from 20 to 22 hours per day in order to yield the maximum effects and stick to the treatments duration plan. Aligners are replaced once every two weeks as they are made based on the stages simulated by the Align Technology. Invisalign in different stages vary in shape and pressure applied to your teeth thus changing them regularly is required to achieve the desired results.

Undergoing treatment with the use of Invisalign is done by first evaluating the patients teeth. Dental impression systems are then used in order to acquire the patients teeth impressions which will be sent to Align Technology as a basis for creating your Invisalign.

Once all the details are sent, three-dimensional simulations are used to predict the movement and placement of the teeth while undergoing the treatment. Hence, the Invisalign made in every stage will be based on these models.

Before sending the go signal for molding the Invisalign appliances, orthodontists first check the simulations and make the necessary revisions to achieve the desired result with the least turnaround time. The checking is done online through Align Technologys system and once the Invisalign is created, they will be sent over to your orthodontist and set to your teeth.

Though an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, there is an optimal time period to begin treatment. Beginning treatment at this time ensures the greatest result and the least amount of time and expense. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. At this early age, orthodontic treatment may not be necessary, but vigilant examination can anticipate the most advantageous time to begin treatment.

Early evaluation provides both timely detection of problems and greater opportunity for more effective treatment. Prudent intervention guides growth and development, preventing serious problems later. When orthodontic intervention is not necessary, an orthodontist can carefully monitor growth and development and begin treatment when it is ideal.

By the age of 7, the first adult molars erupt, establishing the back bite. During this time, an orthodontist can evaluate front-to-back and side-to-side tooth relationships. For example, the presence of erupting incisors can indicate possible overbite, open bite, crowding, or gummy smiles. Timely screening increases the chances for an incredible smile.

Orthodontics is not merely for improving the aesthetics of the smile; orthodontic treatment improves bad bites (malocclusions) as well. Malocclusions occur as a result of tooth or jaw misalignment. Malocclusions affect the way you smile, chew, clean your teeth or feel about your smile.

Braces arent just for kids anymore. Tooth alignment can be changed at any age if your gums and bone structure are healthy. We offer a variety of orthodontic treatments that are designed for different age groups including adults. A new smile can begin today!

Adult orthodontic treatment at later stages in life can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self-esteem. Improving the health of your teeth and gums is equally important. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches, and jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain.

Good news! The new techniques and appliances we use greatly reduce discomfort levels, decrease the frequency of visits, shorten treatment time, and may allow you to choose from several options. Your options may include metal braces, translucent braces, or transparent aligners that can be worn at night to improve mild cases of misaligned teeth. We also offer Invisalign;these are proving to be very popular with many adult patients as they are a clear alternative to braces.

During the initial examination, we will be able to determine the best possible treatment for your individual needs. During this initial examination, we can outline the treatment plan, time of treatment expected, and thecost.

I would give negative stars but it's not an option. When I was 16 I got braces here and I remember and older gentleman took them off and after filed my teeth unmediated while I was awake. I remember telling him how much it was hurting and the heat from the friction of filing was the worst pain I've ever experienced I kept squirming around so he called some woman over and she put her hands on my forehead to hold my head still. I am not over exaggerating this was by far one of the worst experiences I've ever gone through and to this day I hate having my teeth cleaned by professionals.

From start to finish everyone was great at King Orthodontics in Fairborn. The process went very smoothly and we are, especially my daughter, thrilled with the results. Dr. Sam was always so positive and straight forward. My daughter wasn't ready for braces initially, so he didn't rush us into getting them. Great experience!!
