Born and raised in the Kansas City area, Dr. Charles R. Kimes earned his B.S. in 1979 at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. After receiving his undergraduate degree, Dr. Kimes attended dental school and received the Jim Carter Award for distinguished service in the Psi Omega National Dental fraternity in 1982. In 1983, he earned a special achievement award from the UMKC Dental Alumni Association in recognition of significant contribution to the dental education program. Dr. Kimes received his D.D.S. in 1984 from the UMKC School of Dentistry.

The true Overland Park Dentist, Dr. Kimes, began his private dental practice in the Downtown Overland Park area and opened a satellite office in Sedalia, MO in 1985. In 2004, Dr. Kimes opened a south Overland Park location and continues to work with his patients at all three practices every week.

Dr. Nicholas Dorau is a Kansas City native who grew up in Overland Park and then moved to Lenexa at the end of grade school. He is the youngest of four children and the first dentist in the family. He attended Shawnee Mission West High School and then Kansas State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and graduated Cum Laude. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2020. While attending dental school he was involved and held leadership roles in the JayDoc Free Dental Clinic and Xi Psi Phi Dental Fraternity.

Following dental school, Dr. Dorau desired to expand his clinical training in order to better serve his patients and completed a 12-month hospital-based General Practice Residency program at Truman Medical Center Lakewood in 2021. Here he received advanced training in intravenous sedation, wisdom teeth extractions, implant placement, operating room dentistry, and full-mouth rehabilitation. He also further improved his skills in root canals, crown and bridge procedures, and dentures. He is excited to join Dr. Kimes office as an associate and looks forward to the mentorship he will provide.

Dr. Dorau greatly enjoys dentistry because he is able to meet new people and cultivate relationships with those he cares for. He understands that each patient has unique desires for their oral care and offers a range of treatments in order to accomplish their goals. Additionally, he believes that it is his duty to discuss with each patient different treatment options so they can determine together which will be best for them. He treats each of his patients with care and compassion in order to make their treatments as comfortable and smooth as possible.

In his free time Dr. Dorau likes to stay active through road cycling and running. He is an avid cook and enjoys exploring new recipes, foods, and restaurants. To relax he likes socializing with friends, reading, and watching movies. He looks forward to continuing to provide excellent patient-centered dental care to the people of Kansas City with Dr. Kimes.

I was born and raised in the Overland Park area. Growing up I attended Shawnee Mission South High School. After graduating from Kansas State University I attended UMKC Dental School. I then began my private practice in Overland Park where I was blessed to serve my patients for over thirty years.

After selling my practice I was fortunate enough to join Overland Park Dentistry, as I have known Dr. Kimes for many years. We both attended the same dental school and are colleagues in the local Kansas Dental Associations Fifth District.

My hobbies have changed over the years, but I have always been an avid golfer and local sports fan. I also get a lot of enjoyment working with some of the local charities. But my true hobby and love is finding as much time as I can to be with my wife, Teresa, and Is four granddaughters, and counting!
