  • Kim Pediatric Dentistry – Kailua - Pediatric dentist in Kailua, HI

Dr. Maile Kim was born and raised in Kailua, Hawai 'i. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Pacific Union College and upon graduation decided to follow in her fathers footsteps (Dr. Howard Y.B. Kim) and pursue a career in dentistry. She says, 'I learned the value of caring for others by seeing him talk story with his patients. His communication style was honest, straight forward, but filled with compassion. He was my mentor and best friend so it was natural for me to follow in his footsteps.'

Dr. Maile graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in California. She completed a General Practice Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York, followed by a pediatric specialty residency at New York University College of Dentistry. The time she spent away from Hawai'i provided opportunities to meet and care for many children from many demographics, including those children with special health care needs.

Dr. Maile is board certified and Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is a member of the dental staff at Shriners Children's Hospital in Honolulu and faculty for the New York University Langone Dental Medicine Pediatric Dentistry Program. Numerous outreach trips to provide dental care to underserved areas has taken her to Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, India, Costa Rica, and Bolivia. Outside of the office, Dr. Maile and her husband, Dr. Bren Chun, organize plant-based cooking classes for their church community center.

Greatest Dr. for my 3 children. I always get so worried taking my children to the dentist, since I was always scared of the dentist, and the dentists I had didn't seem that nice. But Dr. Chun listens to my concerns and worries and how I feel, and ensures that my children will be/ are well taken care of. Being that 2 of my children are on the spectrum for autism I am even more protective of the care they receive. But so far so great! Nothing but perfect care for my 3 babies, and it makes me feel that I don't need to worry anymore/ as much (since I always worry anyways ). Thank you Dr. Chun and staff, your service is not forgotten and is MUCH appreciated. Mahalo nui loa

Horrible horrible horrible Dental practices. My Daughter has gone toDr Kim from the age of 8 an at the time I had quest for Dental insurance.Well I put my daughter now Under my insurance an took her to my dentist Dr.Mason Savage. After her appointment I was in shock to find out that Maili Kim wasn't taking care of my daughters teeth as I had thought . For Starters, my daughter had prior cavities that Maili Kim was suppose to take care of like cleaning out the cavity an so forth, but what I found out is she only sealed her teeth leaving the tooth to corode . Thank god it was caught in time I'm sure if I didn't she would have lost her teeth years to come an mind she had a couple of teeth uncared for If you care about your child's teeth then I'd Advise you to seek a Dentist that knows dental procedures An gets the job done right. thank you Jesus I was able to find this before her cavity's got even worse the office of Dr Masons was really stunned to have had this done ...,She doesn't deserve to be working on kids let alone under privileged kids it just goes to show she doesn't care

Both of my kids went here and received great care for three years. My younger child has some dental issues and they were handled very well. Dr. Kim took the time to explain everything she was doing in detail and really helped put my mind at ease about my little ones dental needs. I would reccomend this office to anyone looking for a dentist for their child.

My son had the worst experience here. He was pretty much being tortured because she didn't use enough numbing medicine on him. I highly recommend finding someone else

Absolutely love this office! I take all 5 of my kids there. They will not force work just for the sake of money and I love that. My son had a cavity on a baby tooth but they could see the adult tooth coming up so they opted to watch it instead of fill it since they anticipated it falling out soon. We are always in and out very quickly, but not rushed. We love it here!
