As a dental professional, Dr. Kim stays up to date on the latest advancements in dentistry in order to provide the most current treatment options for his patients. As a doctor, he recognizes that his patients are unique individuals who have placed a great deal of trust in himself and his team. That is just one reason why he values each and every patient relationship.
Dr. Kim is an avid and competitive cyclist. In his spare time, he also enjoys sculpting and painting, which comes as little surprise due to his exceptional ability to deliver painless injections to the point that most patients are unaware of the point at which the needle breaks the skin.
A very caring and perfectionist dentist is how most of his patients describe him. Dr. Kim has been practicing dentistry for over 30 years in the Bay Area. He is a perfectionist by nature and his devotion to patient care reflects this. He is committed to keeping up with state-of-the-art techniques by attending seminars and continuing education that enables him to deliver the most up-to-date care to his patients.
He grew up in the Bay Area. He always knew that he was going to be a dentist since middle school. He followed his passion for combining artistry and science in dentistry. He graduated from University of California at Davis (UC Davis) with dual degrees in Biological Sciences and Art. He then graduated from University of Southern California (USC) School of Dentistry. At his dental school, he served as a yearbook illustrator and tutored other students. Both his professors and fellow students admired his talent.
When not practicing dentistry, he enjoys oil painting and sculpting and watching movies. He also enjoys competitive cycling. He rides up to the Summit of Mt. Diablo 4-5 times a week. To name a few cycling rides, he has ridden in Davis Double Century, Mt. Diablo Challenge, Cruella Challenge, Canyon Century, and Death Ride or Tour of California Alps.
Compassionate and Easy Going is her nature. For many years, she has felt and continues to feel blessed to be a part of Dr. Kims team. She feels energized to put a smile on each persons face and delivers superior customer service to each patient. She takes pride in helping others and spending time with her family. When not in the dental office, one may easily find her either running or hiking with her dog, or volunteering at her childrens activities/events. She finds a reason to smile every day!
She has been with Dr. Kim for more than seven (7) years and is well versed in all aspects of dental assistance. She will go out of her way to ensure that each patient is comfortable and well taken care of.She treats the office as if it is her second home, and the patients as if they are her extended family.
Before joining our team, he worked as a dental assistant, tutor for children with learning differences, and an assistant swim team coach. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, running, listening to music, playing video games, and re-learning to play the piano.

Can't speak more highly of Dr Kim. He did an amazing job of repairing someone else's hack job a few years ago. Everything is still so beautiful and has held up well. And such a delightful staff. Highly recommend him!!

John Kim and his practice are a real class act. Dr. Kim and his staff are all-around exceptional and deserving of broader recognition. Dr Kim has very high standards, and it shows in the quality of his work, attention to detail, and personal attention, all of which are so are incredibly rare. It is boutique style office. One doctor, 2 hygienists/ assistants, 1 office manager/front desk person. 4 people total. You always know who you are dealing with, and they know you. Very high quality standards for dental work as well as communication! Everyone is on the ball. Here are a few example why I am such a huge fan of Dr Kim and his staff: 1. On my first visit, I dozed off for 59 minutes while Dr Kim was working on my teeth (and my Fitbit registered it!). That is how comfortable I felt there. Even my heartrate dipped below resting while I was at that office (even my FitBit registered it). On repeat visits I continue to feel very relaxed and comfortable in Dr. Kim's office. 2. Zero pain - before, during or after dental work. Dr. Kim uses a special pH balanced anesthetic, which goes it painlessly and is fast acting. No topic is needed prior to the injection. I am usually hard to get numb and am very pain sensitive, but this was the first time in my life I had a 100% pain-free (and even discomfort-free) dental work done! 3. Text messages to remind of appointment and email to give a heads up if the Dr. is running even 10min behind. They also always tell you how long each visit is expected to take. It shows they respect their patients, patient's time, and think proactively. No detail is too little (even Simply put, in a world of "Honda Civics", John Kim and his practice are a "Bentley". If quality, attention to detail, and personal attention are outmost importance to you, seek no further!

I'm impressed with the friendly & helpful staff. I specially like the way they greet patients upon arrival on parking lot before going in the office. I thought it's very clean & they followed guidelines properly. Thank you for making me feel safe & comfortable.

Newly reopened during the county's pandemic recovery plan, they made me feel safe and comfortable. Probably safer there then going shopping at Safeway with a mask and proper social distancing. They had all the safeguards in place including meeting me in the parking lot to do a Covid-19 screening prior to going into their office. And of course my teeth and gums received their usual royal treatment.

Why did I lose sleep over this, Dr Kim turned out to be the best dentist I've ever had. Yes, it was terrifying changing dentists after going to the same one for 15 years but I couldn't have known I was going to a better place. I had ruthlessly vetted his reviews, interviewed him in person, I had even sent my teenager in for a treatment first. I'm a coward, I freely admit this. But finding the right dentist is a high priority in this family. I needed someone who would be forgiving and see me through my dental difficulties. And add a side of relaxed attitude, patience & skillful technique for good measure. To top it off the staff in the office, you couldn't ask for a better team.

I was happy to see the new COVID safety measures in place to ensure the protection of every patient. The staff is very informed and will ask questions to make sure you are healthy prior to making an appointment, and will greet you in your car and ask a series of questions to check for any changes in your health along with a temperature scan before entering the office. Dr. John Kim is friendly and a perfectionist when it comes to his dental treatments. Dr. Kim is great with kids and even has a wall mounted TV available during their treatments. My kids are now grown adults and have enjoyed their visits and were thrilled to get Invisalign instead of braces with Dr. Kim. We have been coming here for over 30 years and highly recommended this office.

Although Dr. John is not my regular dentist. I had a dental emergency before an important meeting on a Friday. My dentist office was too far away. I called Dr. John's office and they were gracious enough to move a few clients around just so I could get seen. My tooth was repaired so that I could make my meeting in SF and see my regular dentist the following Monday. Great service!

YES, going to the dentist can be comfortable and fun! As a 63 year old woman, I can't recall a time in my life that I wasn't scared to visit a dentist. It wasn't until I discovered Dr. Kim that the entire concept of dentistry changed for good. After numerous bad experiences in the dental chair, I found myself looking for a new dentist in hopes of getting rid of my fears. Dr. Kim is superior in all aspects of dentistry. From cleaning and examining my teeth to re-building existing teeth into brand new ones!! He is kind, patient, understanding but most of all incredibly knowledgeable and professional. In the three years of being his patient, I can honestly say that I NEVER felt pain or discomfort from any procedure. I will also add that his staff is one word - WONDERFUL!! Everyone is friendly and sensitive and always willing to help make your visit a pleasant one. Thank you so much Dr. Kim and your staff as well. You have a patient for life!!!
