Dr. Evelyne Vu-Tien is a specialty graduate of Radys Childrens Hospital of San Diego. Dr Evelyne is also a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and a Fellow of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She completed her dental training at the University of California, San Francisco and her business-economimcs degree at the University of California, Los Angeles. At UCSF she was the Western Regional Trustee for the American Student Dental Association and the National Pre-Dental Liason. Dr Evelyne enjoys lecturing and presented at the Oral Health Initiative Programs in San Diego and Naval Medical Center Continuing Education Courses. Dr Evelyne also enjoys volunteering in local San Diego dental events, Mexico, and Vietnam with her husband (a general dentist in the Navy). She served as volunteer faculty at the Rady Children's pediatric dental program and served on the Peer Review Board for San Diego. She is also a national speaker for the American Dental Association Success Seminars, educating dental students about practice management and patient care. She also enjoys volunteering with Point Loma Nazarene Pre-Health Students and serves on the San Diego Oral Advisory. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, Reagan and Josephine.
Dr. Evelynes practice vision is to provide high quality dentistry in a nurturing and caring environment. Her focus is patient-centered with emphasis on preventing dental disease, beginning in infancy to adulthood. Her progressive techniques utilizes tooth-colored fillings, Solea laser to minimize or eliminate anesthetic during cavity treatments, NOMAD hand held digital radiographs which have the lowest emission of radiation, and computerized anesthetic delivery device. The Single Tooth Anesthesia device keeps the tongue, lips, and cheek from becoming numb in certain cases.
Dr. Evelynes two year specialty training has prepared her to work with special needs patients such as those suffering from autism, cancer, and rare genetic anomalies as well as dentally anxious patients. For her nervous patients, she is able to administer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to make the dental experience more comfortable. A pediatric dental anesthesiologist is also available for patients needing to go to sleep for their dental treatment. Her goal is to establish a positive dental experience with all patients, thus helping patients foster a healthy, lifelong view of the dentist office.
Dr. Judy Brown has been working at Kidz Place for the past six years, covering for Dr. Evelyne when she is away from the office. She is a transplant from the East Coast and moved to San Diego in 2008. She was born and raised in New York City where most of her family still resides. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She also completed a general dental residency program in the VA Hospital of La Jolla and specialization in pediatric dentistry at the Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, an endodontist in San Diego, and their four beautiful children. She received the distinction of a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist in 2011.
Dr. Chrissy Hammer was born and raised in the Chicago area. She received her undergraduate and Masters degrees from Loyola University Chicago before completing her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona in 2013.
Dr. Hammer completed her post-graduate specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Maryland in Baltimore and was honored to act as Chief Resident her second year. As a proud Navy wife, she has traveled around the country for almost a decade with her husband and is excited to call San Diego home. Dr. Hammer is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, a peer-nominated honorary organization and a designation earned by only 3.5%of dentists. She was named the 2016 New Dentist of the Year by the Maryland State Dental Association, and volunteers her time with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Foundation. Dr. Hammer also received the International College of Dentists Student Leadership Award in 2013.
Dr. Hammer practices comprehensive Pediatric Dentistry with a minimally invasive mindset. She enjoys treating infants, children and those with complex medical and behavioral challenges. Her goal is to help every child leave his or her visit feeling comfortable, confident, and excited to visit the dentist. Dr. Hammer is known for her compassionate, calming bedside manner and for being relatable to both children and parents.
