I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and attended Punahou High School. I later earned my Bachelor or Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and continued to UCLA Dental School where I graduated in 2002. I received my Pediatric specialty degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 2004. In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball, baseball and golf. I also enjoy going to sporting events, wine tasting, and spending time with my family, my three boys: Aiden, Kyle and Micah, and my friends.
Dr. Kanuga completed her Pediatric dentistry training with a MSD degree from one of the most esteemed programs at the University of Washington, Seattle in 2009. She was a dentist in India (GDCH, Ahmedabad) before she came to the US in 2002. She received her DDS at the University of California, Los Angeles (2006); and continued her training in hospital dentistry (2007). She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
With 10 years of training in Dentistry and several years of clinical experience under her belt, Dr. Kanuga excels in managing and treating children from 0 to 18 years of age; both typically developing and children with special health care needs and disabilities. She provides comprehensive dental treatment to children using non-pharmacologic as well as pharmacologic behavior management techniques including Nitrous Oxide- Oxygen, oral sedation and IV sedation with a dental anesthesiologist. Dr. Kanuga prides herself in the practice of Evidence-based dentistry and an emphasis on preventive oral care for young children.
Dr. Kanuga has served as an Editor at the San Fernando Valley Dental Society, a board member of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry and an Evidence Reviewer for the American Dental Association. She has multiple publications under her belt in esteemed journals including the Journal of American Dental Association (JADA). She lectures internationally on various topics in clinical pediatric dentistry and also presented at the AAPD annual conference in May 2018. She established her state of the art fully digital pediatric and orthodontic group practice, Kidz Dental Care in April 2018 in Santa Clarita, CA and the practice is well-renowned and sought after in the community. She lives in suburban Los Angeles, CA with her husband and her two children. In her leisure time, she enjoys cooking, reading, teaching Zumba, spending time with her friends and family and traveling. With her exceptional patient management skills and gentle demeanor, children and parents love coming to Dr. Kanuga for their regular dental exam and treatment.

Dr. Hirano is awesome as well as his staff. My son has been a patient of Kidz Dental Care for 10 years now and always looks forward to his visits. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a dentist for your child this is the place to go. You won't be disappointed!

My kids have been going there for years ,dr.hiranimo and his staff are absolutely amazing .My first experience with kidz dental was after my son Tony had a horrible experience at another office,my son was in a lot of pain and I reached out to kidz dental and I remember dr.hiranimo being so kind and caring with my son ,explaining everything he was doing he even made my son laugh and smile again.They have been with my children since they were very little my son is now 14,my daughter 11,and my youngest son 8.And I would never go anywhere else,please if your reading this review go to kidz dental meet dr.hiranimo and his awesome staff you will not regret it.They really care about their patients,outstanding service!

Everything I could ask for in a dentist for children. Friendly, positive and has truly changed my family's health for the better. Dr. Hirano was the first Healthcare practitioner to notice my son's large tonsils. He told me one time, I asked his pediatrician to check and the pediatrician said my kid was fine. He said it at the next appointment 6 months later, I asked the pediatrician and the pediatrician said he was fine again and I could tell he barely looked. I took my son to urgent care and begged the doctor to take a good look at his tonsils, even if he cries...and the pediatricians eyes bulged and he was immediately referred to an ent to have his tonsils and adenoids removed which improved my kids quality of life 100%. The staff here are gentle and meticulous. During my middle son's cleaning the hygienist found a lot of buildup on a backtooth that when I looked at it...it just looked like a big tooth. Then they sealed it and I feel like that was a huge save for my middle son who has already had one or two cavities. My youngest has knocked his front tooth loose twice...and each time, even during the pandemic, Dr. Hirano got back to me by phone right away from the emergency like, calmed me down and saw me the next day first thing in the morning. They give prizes after each visit. They have games and movies in the waiting room. It's just a great place to "have to" go every 6 months.

Dr Hirano and his staff are very good and friendly. My kids love going to their office. I was nervous for my son's first visit. But they made him very comfortable and now he wants to go there soon. Definitely recommend this place.

Love Dr H, he's been so patient and kind with my 2 toddlers. Talks to me about what he's doing as he's doing it. The staff is exceptional. I moved out the area but still go here because of the care.

Dr Kanuga is an amazing gem of a person. She goes above and beyond in taking care of her little patients. She personally called and followed up after both of kids had their cavities were filled. She is very knowledgeable and always guides parents in the right path. We love going to her. The office is very clean and everyone is very nice and welcoming !

The doctor and staff are the best with the kids they are professional and super gentle with them. We've been coming here since my twins were 3 years old, they are five now and continue to love coming to the dentist especially for all their goodies at the end.
