Dentistry is actually a second career for Dr. Mixon. Born into a family with a long tradition of naval service, he entered the Navy following graduation from the University of Florida as a back-seater in the F-14 Tomcat. This first career gave him a lifelong love for flying and for travel but most importantly led directly to his becoming a pediatric dentist. I made friends with the dentists onboard the ship and fell in love with what they do.
Returning to the University of Florida, College of Dentistry, Dr. Mixon graduated with honors in 1995. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honors Fraternity. He completed a one-year general practice residence at the VA Hospital and then completed the two-year pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Florida in 1998.
Dr. Kristen is extremely passionate about her profession and creating a fun and safe environment to provide healthy smiles for her patients. Her goal is to make sure that your child has a positive dental experience by providing optimal care and inspiring them to maintain good oral health care from childhood into adolescence.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree and Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Florida. She continued her training with the University of Florida in Naples, FL where she completed her residency to become a specialist in pediatric dentistry, making her a Triple Gator!
Dr. Kristen has brought new and innovative techniques to our practice including laser dentistry, which provides minimally invasive solutions to many infancy and childhood oral-related issues including lip and tongue-ties, gummy smiles, and soft tissue lesions. Also, she is excited to offer her bilingual skills to the practice, by speaking Spanish with patients as needed.
Dr. Kristen is so excited to be back in the city where she bleeds orange and blue! She enjoys working out, trying new restaurants, going to the beach and hanging out with her family and friends. Dr. Kristen and her fianc, Spencer enjoy exploring new cities together and spending time with their dog, Charlie Pickles and cat, Kitty Pickles :)
Dr. Brooke received her medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, GA in 2009. She completed her internship and residency in anesthesiology at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL in 2013 where she served as chief resident. Dr. Maryak was certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in 2014 and completed her Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship at Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, FL in 2015.

Mary Beth went to dental assisting school in Tampa, Florida, and has been with KODP since 1999. She has worked in different fields of dentistry including orthodontics. Mary Beth loves to spend time with her family on the weekends, especially with her grandkids Emory, Harper, and Kinslee. She enjoys camping and grilling out with her husband and family in her spare time. Mary Beth is involved in all aspects of the pediatric practice, but working with the children is the part of the practice that she loves the most.
Sonia was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. Sonia has been with KODP since 2005. She has been in the dental field for more than 14 years. Sonia enjoys spending time with her son and granddaughter on the weekends. She loves to travel, dine out, and spend time outdoors with her soon-to-be husband. Our patients and staff enjoy her bubbly, positive personality and radiant smile.
Sherrie is from Lake City, Florida. She has been with KODP since 2006. She has been in many diverse fields for more than 25 years, including orthodontics and general dentistry. Sherrie enjoys spending time with her two grandchildren, working out in her spare time, and spending time outdoors. She enjoys the challenges and rewards of working with pediatric patients and seeing them have healthy, bright smile. Sherrie has seen many of her patients grow up and become parents who now bring their children to our office. She has a wonderful knack for recalling small details about her patients.
From Newberry, Florida, Christy has been a dental assistant for about 13 years. She has been working in pediatrics since 2002. Christy obtained her Expanded Functions Certificate from the University of Florida. She enjoys spending time with her two beautiful daughters and her husband. Christys interest in pediatric dentistry made her a perfect fit for our office, and her gentle nature makes her a favorite with patients and her fellow team members.
Mary Anne joined KODP in 1998. She helps new patients get established in our office, answers phones, verifies insurance, and does dental health presentations. She enjoys interacting with our patients and ensuring they have a positive experience in our office. She is proud to be a part of a team that provides quality service and ensures our patients have a positive visit in our office. Mary Ann has been married to Dean for 26 years. She has two teenage daughters, Brooke and Katelyn, and a puppy named Daisy. She is involved in her church and enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking, and trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Mary Anne is very grateful that Dr. Mixon offered her a position more than 20 years ago.
Debbie has an AA degree in Business Communications that helps with the business side of the dental office. Joining our front desk team in 2014, she sets up new accounts, verifies insurance/medical information, schedules patients, entertains the children, and assists with parents. Debbie has been married for 35 years to Bill and has three wonderful daughters and three great sons-in-law. She has been blessed with four grandchildren. They enjoy hanging out as a family, baseball, and Sunday football games. Debbie thoroughly enjoys working with Dr. Mixon and the KODP team.
Beth is originally from Nashville, Tennessee. She has been in the dental field for over 20 years and has worked in many aspects and specialties in dentistry. Beth enjoys spending time with her family on the weekends. She enjoys horseback riding, boating, and other outdoor activities. She loves working with all age groups and enjoys getting to know her patients.
Andrea earned her AA in Dental Hygiene in 2010 and joined KODP in 2013. Shes great at walking each patient through the exam and cleaning process and showing them how easy and fun it is. Andrea and her husband Bryan just welcomed a sweet baby girl, Sawyer, last December. They love spending time with family, traveling, and love to find new places to see and explore. We both love food so we always make sure to find some good restaurants along the way. Andrea loves working with our team and doctors to help provide the best care for our patients.
Gina is a nationally certified dental assistant who has been working in pediatric dentistry for 12 years. She joined KODP in 2011. Gina has been married for eight years. She has two children, Riley and Madelyn. She loves spending time with her family, shopping, and sports. Gina loves her work family and being a part of such a great team!
Stacey joined Dr. Mixons practice in 1998. She earned her AA degree from Santa Fe College, working as a pediatric dental assistant for ten years before transitioning to the front desk, where she took on the fun and challenging task of battling insurance companies. Staceys faith in God and her love for her family are the two most important things in her life. She enjoys spending time with the love of her life Timmy and her three children, Madison, Coy, and Emma Claire. She also enjoys baking and feeding all the friends her children bring home. Stacey is truly honored to be a part of this amazing and fun team!
Nancy began working in dentistry in 2001, bringing her years of experience to the KODP team in 2013. From the front desk, she gets to meet and work with a variety of different people. She enjoys the idea that she has played a part in helping put a smile on a childs face. Nancy has been married for 26 years to her wonderful husband, David. They have a beautiful daughter Heather, and two fabulous grandkids, Seth and Kylie. When not at work, Nancy loves spending time with family and friends, swimming in the pool, playing golf, cooking, and watching Gator sports. The doctors and team at KODP always make Nancy smile and make her look forward to coming to work.
Peaches has been a dental assistant since 1993, earned her EFDA, and joined KODP in 2013. Her knowledge of dentistry makes her an amazing asset to our team, but her smile and charismatic personality make her a crowd favorite. Peaches and her lifelong love and husband, Willie, have raised 4 wonderful kids.Outside of work her activities revolve around family, faith, and weekend sports with her youngest son. She also can't resist a little shopping--especially if there are great deals at Bath and Body Works!!
Maddie has her EFDA and radiology certification, and recently joined the KODP fam. Her favorite part of dental assisting is showingpatientsthe fun side to dentistry. Maddieand her husband Cole arefishing fanatics, hitting the water every chance they get. She loves all things outdoors and her secret talent is cattle wranglin. She loves spending time with family and considers her two horses to be her furbabies ;)
Emma has lived in Gainesville, Florida her entire life. She went to school for her EFDA certificate and worked in the general dentistry field for two years before deciding that she wanted to primarily work with children. This year, Emma started her journey into pediatric dentistry as a pediatric dental assistant and loves it! Her favorite part of the job is getting to spend so much time with kids and being able to teach them the importance of oral hygiene. Emma and her husband Joshua have a Catahoula hound dog named Cali. She loves to spend her time outside by anybody of water. Emma learns something new every day from the KODP team.
Angel has been a part of the Kids Only Team for 5 years, and has 13 years total of experience in dentistry. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Michael, for seven years and they have three beautiful children! When you visit our office you will most likely find Angel's smiling face as you walk in the door, but she is our jack-of-all-trades, and can also be found assisting with patient care. When Angel is away from the office you can find her planning their next family vacation, and then surprising Michael after the fact [but shhh we are always sworn to secrecy!] Her upbeat and spontaneous personality makes her a crowd favorite at Kids Only!
Cristal was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised here in Gainesville. She started working as a dental assistant in 2013 and was certified in expanded functions in 2014 at the University of Florida. Cristal loves working with kids and helping to create a fun, family atmosphere. In her free time, Cristal and her husband Ruben do volunteer work and love going to Disney World where they can act like kids all they want. They have a daughter who makes them laugh for hours with her charismatic personality. Cristal loves traveling to different countries, enjoying the cultures, and trying all kinds of foods. She also loves to dance!
Kalla graduated from dental assisting school in 2013 and joined KODP in 2020. Her goal is to help kids feel comfortable coming to the dentist by showing them patience and kindness, and having a little fun, too! She enjoys educating patients on how to properly take care of their oral hygiene and seeing them grow up into healthy, happy young adults! Kalla has been married for 12 years and has two beautiful kids. In her free time, she loves to be outdoors, travel, and just have fun with her family and friends.

We love Dr. Bob! He's done a great job of explaining different things going on with our older kids. Would definitely recommend him for exams, and the hygienists are so kind. However, We took our youngest (7 weeks old) to see Dr. Kristen Dreyer for a consult and likely frenectomy (tongue and lip tie release). We would have been able to save the consult if we'd known she doesn't allow parents in the room during the procedure, which is not something we're comfortable with. When discussing this with her, she also lied to me at first about the reasons I couldn't be in the room, which is swaying us to possibly switch dental offices altogether. For this frenectomy procedure, we highly recommend Dr. Myers Pediatric Dentistry in Middleburg or Jacksonville. It was worth the drive to us to have their knowledgeable staff and Dr. Gary do the procedure and to be in the room with our daughter, helping hold and reassure her.

I took my son here when he was just 2 days old. Dr. Kristen Dreyer was able to fit us in immediately for a frenotomy (lip and tongue tie procedure). His latch significantly approved, and after a few weeks of healing, felt so much better. She made sure he was doing good after the procedure and at our post-op visit and I can tell she and her whole staff care so much about each patient! Definitely recommend.

Absolutely appalling experience. Went for a tongue tie revision- they pushed and convinced us to also revise the lip- then Dr Kristen mentioned "his cheeks are tight" and suggested having them lasered as well. I said no- absolutely not- only the tongue and only the lip IF needed. I was extremely transparent that I only wanted done what was absolutely needed and minimal. I decided to stay with my baby during the procedure & thank goodness because this doctor has ZERO empathy for babies. She was super intense and upon lasering the tongue she then told me she was doing the lip as well and I told her "ok but only minimally do not do more than you need too." Well she lasered a TON of his lip- then proceeded to laser his CHEEKS AS WELL!!! Did you know that dimples are due to cheek ties? I didn't. And now my adorable babies dimples are GONE. She obviously either didn't know either or doesn't care. She completely disregarded my wishes as a mother- and lasered his cheeks as well- completely changing his appearance. Then when it came time to do his "stretches" before leaving she really showed her lack of empathy while handling him- and gave no recovery time before forcing his lips and tongue back while he screamed until he couldn't breathe, with no recovery moments inbetween. My husband had to leave the entire practice just in order to not hear his screams! After she "showed" me the stretches- she was adamant I "must" do them in her presence before leaving. My child was screaming and at this time I did them quickly- and properly- and then went to pick him up. She literally held him down by his feet and said "again- you need to do them again with more pressure" while he screamed until he could not breathe! I stared her dead in the eyes and said "NO- you did it once, I've done it once & he needs a break" and literally pulled MY newborn from her clutches. Needless to say we did not return for the post op visit to her and handled elsewhere- where we learned that she got rid of his dimples by lasering his cheek ties. Hopefully through this review- maybe she'll take a step back and realize she needs to re-evaluate her practice...

I can't say thank you enough to the staff here at Kids Only Dental Place! First Ms Debbie who works in the front office is absolutely the BEST! She helped my family and I so so much to get our newborn scheduled and seen. She's thorough, patient, and it's more than just a job to her. She cares so much. Truly a blessing!!! Dr. Kristen is absolutely incredible! She's knowledgeable and makes you feel very comfortable. The entire team here is AMAZING! Their prices are reasonable as well. I highly recommend them if you're needing a pediatric Dentistry for your children. The office is super cute and very clean. Everyone had smiles on their faces! We can't thank them enough! :)

I am a people watcher, especially when it comes to how people interact with children. Dr. Kristen, Lacy(Hygienist), and Savannah( Dental Assistant) were all very attentive to my son. I love both locations and will continue to bring my son here.

One word... AMAZING!!!!! I can't express enough how much we appreciate the amazing Doctor Kristen and her team! My daughter has an auto immune disorder and when she had pain in her mouth it was very important to get her to the dentist immediately, thankfully they were able to get us in the same day and work with us to get her a visit with the doctor. When I called they were very patient, friendly and followed through with locating our insurance, and they were honest that they didn't accept it but could still see her and told us upfront what it would cost. They tracked down her records and sent me my paperwork via email. When we arrived you could tell the office liked their job and the kids that they work with. They also showed compassion when we arrived at the office a few minutes late, got us back quickly and promptly. Our dental nurse was very nice and thorough she asked questions and listened to us and and was awesome! Last but not least!! The Dr Kristen was ammmmmaaaaziiiing! She introduced herself, which is a big deal bc a lot of doctors don't do that anymore they just start talking to you and treat you like a number. She told us her name she listened to everything and did not rush us, and then she told us what she saw in her mouth and gave us a treatment plan. I I really like that she looked at my daughters medical chart and had an understanding of her blood disorder which is very important with her care, and then she said she would follow up with us by talking to our hematologist and referring us to a new Dentist in new city we are moving to. All in all it was well worth the drive from The Villages and I'm so grateful we were able to come to the office today thank you ladies and Dr. Kristen!!!

Son had a bad experience on visit and the pulled his tooth. Ever since he has had anxiety visiting the dentist and their only solution was sedation which we did not feel comfortable doing.

I'm OBSESSED with the staff at the Haile location, everyone is amazing and so sweet. They see hundreds of children and they will always make you feel welcome and at home by remembering your child. It's worth the 45 min drive I make to take my son there.

SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME AND MONEY AND GO ****SOMEWHERE ELSE**** !!!!! Drove from Lake City, FL today to have my 6 year old seen who was having a toothache on her back molar. After X-rays and an exam we were given an "estimate" of 2k+ and told they "recommended" IV sedation due to my daughter having some anxiety during her apportionment. After my husband got home and we talked about it I called the office back to discuss our options. When I called the Gainesville office I explained to them that currently our main concern was getting the back molar filled that was hurting our daughter and then we could come up with a plan to get anything else taken care of. I also voiced that I was not comfortable with IV sedation and mentioned how our daughter has had procedures at their office before with gas and did completely fine. I was not only told that Dr. Mixon refused to work on my child unless she was under IV sedation, I was also told that the only option was for us to do ALL teeth at once, totaling 2 thousand dollars. No other options were given, nothing. I voiced how in these times in the world 2 thousand dollars is a lot of money to spend on baby teeth just to be told "well, that's what we can do" - IF YOU ARE A PARENT AND YOU ARE AN ADVOCATE FOR YOUR CHILD AND THEIR VOICE - DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST OFFICE! Their complete lack of compassion or concern for a parents requests and feeling baffles me. To refuse care without IV sedation (which alone is $850 not covered by insurance) seems VERY money hungry and just plain wrong! We as parents should be able to decide the best plan of action for our children!

I am so happy I took my daughter to Kids Only Dental Place! I had taken her to Grins & Giggles the day before and was told she needed 7 fillings and a crown. This would need to be done under IV sedation and cost $4,000. She's 3. I immediately called Kids Only for a second opinion and Dr. Kristen was able to see us the next day. She recommended ONE filling and fluoride gel with close monitoring of the other spots. I can't thank Kids Only enough for taking a more conservative approach for my baby. I'm moving all my kiddos over to Kids Only. Also, my 3 year old has asked repeatedly to go back to the dentist because she loved their office so much!

I can't express how amazing this experience was for both my 2 year old and myself! I'm 34 years old and still feel triggered at the idea of going to a dentist. I really didn't want to pass that anxiety onto my child and luckily I happened to run into my old friend Kalla who works that this dentistry. She educated me on how early exposure helps reduce or even completely eliminate anxiety associated with going to the dentist. My son loved every second of his visit and talked about it for the rest of the day. They were so sensitive to my child's individualism and I just can't express my appreciation enough. As I'm writing this review he was talking about his dentist visit to his grandmother and said "More Kalla". Thank you Kalla and Dr. Bob!

Dr. Bob is fantastic with kids, treating them with respect and letting them know what to expect without it ever seeming scary. The entire staff are so patient and good with the kids. I highly recommend!

The office is very clean and organized with AWESOME staff!! We saw Dr. Kristen, and our dental assistant was Ms. Kalla! They truly made it a great experience for me and my 4 year old son who was visiting the dentist for the first time. They were very patient and answered all his questions along with mine, and made the experience so fun for him! My 4 year old has never been so excited to brush his teeth and floss until now and I'm so thankful!! Truly terrific office and we have already booked our next appointment! Thank you again!!

We have only been three times but every time they are fantastic! Everyone there is super sweet and kind and great at what they do. They work as team so well and watching them all work together is great because it's very fluid. It's a nice thing to see when it's people dealing with your children! I hope we can keep going here for a long time to come as the kids get older. Very happy we have found them

Dr. Bob was amazing in helping us with our kid. We are out of towners and they received us with much warmth and hospitality. We observed his great charisma and charm with our child. We were able to resolve our problem. The only regret we have is not being able to take him with us up north. Thank you Dr. Bob and staff. Keep up the beautiful work.
