Dentistry is actually a second career for Dr. Mixon. Born into a family with a long tradition of naval service, he entered the Navy following graduation from the University of Florida as a back-seater in the F-14 Tomcat. This first career gave him a lifelong love for flying and for travel but most importantly led directly to his becoming a pediatric dentist. I made friends with the dentists onboard the ship and fell in love with what they do.

Returning to the University of Florida, College of Dentistry, Dr. Mixon graduated with honors in 1995. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honors Fraternity. He completed a one-year general practice residence at the VA Hospital and then completed the two-year pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Florida in 1998.

Dr. Kristen is extremely passionate about her profession and creating a fun and safe environment to provide healthy smiles for her patients. Her goal is to make sure that your child has a positive dental experience by providing optimal care and inspiring them to maintain good oral health care from childhood into adolescence.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree and Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Florida. She continued her training with the University of Florida in Naples, FL where she completed her residency to become a specialist in pediatric dentistry, making her a Triple Gator!

Dr. Kristen has brought new and innovative techniques to our practice including laser dentistry, which provides minimally invasive solutions to many infancy and childhood oral-related issues including lip and tongue-ties, gummy smiles, and soft tissue lesions. Also, she is excited to offer her bilingual skills to the practice, by speaking Spanish with patients as needed.

Dr. Kristen is so excited to be back in the city where she bleeds orange and blue! She enjoys working out, trying new restaurants, going to the beach and hanging out with her family and friends. Dr. Kristen and her fianc, Spencer enjoy exploring new cities together and spending time with their dog, Charlie Pickles and cat, Kitty Pickles :)

Dr. Brooke received her medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, GA in 2009. She completed her internship and residency in anesthesiology at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL in 2013 where she served as chief resident. Dr. Maryak was certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in 2014 and completed her Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship at Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, FL in 2015.

Mary Beth went to dental assisting school in Tampa, Florida, and has been with KODP since 1999. She has worked in different fields of dentistry including orthodontics. Mary Beth loves to spend time with her family on the weekends, especially with her grandkids Emory, Harper, and Kinslee. She enjoys camping and grilling out with her husband and family in her spare time. Mary Beth is involved in all aspects of the pediatric practice, but working with the children is the part of the practice that she loves the most.

Sonia was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida. Sonia has been with KODP since 2005. She has been in the dental field for more than 14 years. Sonia enjoys spending time with her son and granddaughter on the weekends. She loves to travel, dine out, and spend time outdoors with her soon-to-be husband. Our patients and staff enjoy her bubbly, positive personality and radiant smile.

Sherrie is from Lake City, Florida. She has been with KODP since 2006. She has been in many diverse fields for more than 25 years, including orthodontics and general dentistry. Sherrie enjoys spending time with her two grandchildren, working out in her spare time, and spending time outdoors. She enjoys the challenges and rewards of working with pediatric patients and seeing them have healthy, bright smile. Sherrie has seen many of her patients grow up and become parents who now bring their children to our office. She has a wonderful knack for recalling small details about her patients.

From Newberry, Florida, Christy has been a dental assistant for about 13 years. She has been working in pediatrics since 2002. Christy obtained her Expanded Functions Certificate from the University of Florida. She enjoys spending time with her two beautiful daughters and her husband. Christys interest in pediatric dentistry made her a perfect fit for our office, and her gentle nature makes her a favorite with patients and her fellow team members.

Mary Anne joined KODP in 1998. She helps new patients get established in our office, answers phones, verifies insurance, and does dental health presentations. She enjoys interacting with our patients and ensuring they have a positive experience in our office. She is proud to be a part of a team that provides quality service and ensures our patients have a positive visit in our office. Mary Ann has been married to Dean for 26 years. She has two teenage daughters, Brooke and Katelyn, and a puppy named Daisy. She is involved in her church and enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking, and trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Mary Anne is very grateful that Dr. Mixon offered her a position more than 20 years ago.

Debbie has an AA degree in Business Communications that helps with the business side of the dental office. Joining our front desk team in 2014, she sets up new accounts, verifies insurance/medical information, schedules patients, entertains the children, and assists with parents. Debbie has been married for 35 years to Bill and has three wonderful daughters and three great sons-in-law. She has been blessed with four grandchildren. They enjoy hanging out as a family, baseball, and Sunday football games. Debbie thoroughly enjoys working with Dr. Mixon and the KODP team.

Beth is originally from Nashville, Tennessee. She has been in the dental field for over 20 years and has worked in many aspects and specialties in dentistry. Beth enjoys spending time with her family on the weekends. She enjoys horseback riding, boating, and other outdoor activities. She loves working with all age groups and enjoys getting to know her patients.

Andrea earned her AA in Dental Hygiene in 2010 and joined KODP in 2013. Shes great at walking each patient through the exam and cleaning process and showing them how easy and fun it is. Andrea and her husband Bryan just welcomed a sweet baby girl, Sawyer, last December. They love spending time with family, traveling, and love to find new places to see and explore. We both love food so we always make sure to find some good restaurants along the way. Andrea loves working with our team and doctors to help provide the best care for our patients.

Gina is a nationally certified dental assistant who has been working in pediatric dentistry for 12 years. She joined KODP in 2011. Gina has been married for eight years. She has two children, Riley and Madelyn. She loves spending time with her family, shopping, and sports. Gina loves her work family and being a part of such a great team!

Stacey joined Dr. Mixons practice in 1998. She earned her AA degree from Santa Fe College, working as a pediatric dental assistant for ten years before transitioning to the front desk, where she took on the fun and challenging task of battling insurance companies. Staceys faith in God and her love for her family are the two most important things in her life. She enjoys spending time with the love of her life Timmy and her three children, Madison, Coy, and Emma Claire. She also enjoys baking and feeding all the friends her children bring home. Stacey is truly honored to be a part of this amazing and fun team!

Nancy began working in dentistry in 2001, bringing her years of experience to the KODP team in 2013. From the front desk, she gets to meet and work with a variety of different people. She enjoys the idea that she has played a part in helping put a smile on a childs face. Nancy has been married for 26 years to her wonderful husband, David. They have a beautiful daughter Heather, and two fabulous grandkids, Seth and Kylie. When not at work, Nancy loves spending time with family and friends, swimming in the pool, playing golf, cooking, and watching Gator sports. The doctors and team at KODP always make Nancy smile and make her look forward to coming to work.

Peaches has been a dental assistant since 1993, earned her EFDA, and joined KODP in 2013. Her knowledge of dentistry makes her an amazing asset to our team, but her smile and charismatic personality make her a crowd favorite. Peaches and her lifelong love and husband, Willie, have raised 4 wonderful kids.Outside of work her activities revolve around family, faith, and weekend sports with her youngest son. She also can't resist a little shopping--especially if there are great deals at Bath and Body Works!!

Maddie has her EFDA and radiology certification, and recently joined the KODP fam. Her favorite part of dental assisting is showingpatientsthe fun side to dentistry. Maddieand her husband Cole arefishing fanatics, hitting the water every chance they get. She loves all things outdoors and her secret talent is cattle wranglin. She loves spending time with family and considers her two horses to be her furbabies ;)

Emma has lived in Gainesville, Florida her entire life. She went to school for her EFDA certificate and worked in the general dentistry field for two years before deciding that she wanted to primarily work with children. This year, Emma started her journey into pediatric dentistry as a pediatric dental assistant and loves it! Her favorite part of the job is getting to spend so much time with kids and being able to teach them the importance of oral hygiene. Emma and her husband Joshua have a Catahoula hound dog named Cali. She loves to spend her time outside by anybody of water. Emma learns something new every day from the KODP team.

Angel has been a part of the Kids Only Team for 5 years, and has 13 years total of experience in dentistry. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Michael, for seven years and they have three beautiful children! When you visit our office you will most likely find Angel's smiling face as you walk in the door, but she is our jack-of-all-trades, and can also be found assisting with patient care. When Angel is away from the office you can find her planning their next family vacation, and then surprising Michael after the fact [but shhh we are always sworn to secrecy!] Her upbeat and spontaneous personality makes her a crowd favorite at Kids Only!

Cristal was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised here in Gainesville. She started working as a dental assistant in 2013 and was certified in expanded functions in 2014 at the University of Florida. Cristal loves working with kids and helping to create a fun, family atmosphere. In her free time, Cristal and her husband Ruben do volunteer work and love going to Disney World where they can act like kids all they want. They have a daughter who makes them laugh for hours with her charismatic personality. Cristal loves traveling to different countries, enjoying the cultures, and trying all kinds of foods. She also loves to dance!

Kalla graduated from dental assisting school in 2013 and joined KODP in 2020. Her goal is to help kids feel comfortable coming to the dentist by showing them patience and kindness, and having a little fun, too! She enjoys educating patients on how to properly take care of their oral hygiene and seeing them grow up into healthy, happy young adults! Kalla has been married for 12 years and has two beautiful kids. In her free time, she loves to be outdoors, travel, and just have fun with her family and friends.
