At Kids First Dental in Martinsville, VA, we strive to offer comprehensive treatment that is affordable and technologically advanced. To do so, we do everything in our power to ensure our patients have a great experience in our office and can get the treatment they need without having to worry about payment.
Our first office was established almost 12 years ago in 2008. Ever since our first opening, Kids First Dental has provided superior dental care to our numerous patients, whether they be children or adults. From our convenient location in Martinsville, VA, we have been able to hire providers with years of experience and continuing education. This means our team is knowledgeable, caring, and able to treat a broad range of dental ailments.
We chose the name Kids First Dental to represent a crucial element of our philosophy, which is to provide children with positive experiences when they visit the dentist. After all, many adults avoid going to the dentist because they have had negative visits in the past. By providing kids with a comfortable place to get treatment, we hope to encourage children and teach them that visiting the dentist can be fun.
Besides having warm and friendly staff, we also have some special amenities for kids. For example, there is a state of the art playroom and even a no cavity club that kids can join when they have a cavity-free visit.
Finally, a major goal of ours is keeping your familys dental care affordable so that you do not have to deal with the stress of trying to determine whether or not you have the money to fill a cavity or get a dental cleaning. To do so, we accept most private insurance options as well as group plans. We are also part of Medicaid and have a loyalty program in addition to low-cost cleanings.
Dr. Brown received his dental degree from the Catholic University Nijmegen Radboud Dental/Medical College in The Netherlands, in 1988. After practicing as a general dentist on the Dutch Island of Curacao and in the Netherlands for several years; he went on to attend University of Maryland Dental School from which he graduated with his degree in Pediatric Dentistry in July of 1995. He has been actively practicing Dentistry for 30 years.
Dr Brown is an active member of the Dutch Dental Society (Nederlandse Maatschappij ter bevordering der Tandheelkunde), and The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He has also served as vice president and treasurer of the Curacao Dental Society.
Dr Brown has a special interest in the growth and development of children and adolescents. He is passionate about early orthodontic treatment and anterior esthetic treatments (anterior composite crowns). He has completed more than 15 years of additional, specialized training in pediatric dentistry. He continues to obtain numerous hours per year of continuing education in the field of pediatric dentistry and early orthodontics all over the US and Europe.
Dr Brown recognizes that each and every child has specific dental needs that are unique. These needs can include behaviour management techniques, orthodontics(braces), stainless steel crowns, anterior composite crowns, nitrous oxide sedation, or even general anesthesia in a hospital setting.

Very kid friendly dental office the little kids feel like big kids cause they can go back by themselves the feeling of family starts from the moment you walk in the door and if you need any services once you leave always get you seen as soon as possible

Waiting rooms were very clean. Staff is very pleasant. Both of my girls got their teeth cleaned in a timely manner. Today was their first visit but overall I am pleased with the service.

We've been bringing our girls here for years. Even with COVID, Teresa has always made the girls feel safe and now they go in by themselves. Everyone from the receptionist to Dr Brown himself is great and easy to work with!!

The staff was awesome! I love Dr. Brown so much I drive hour and half for my kids to still see him. The hygienist today for my daughters first ever dentist appointment was so patient and experienced being as my daughter wasn't wanting any part of it. Such a great office overall!

I can't express how much I love this dentist office. My children love each and every member of the staff and they treat my kids (I have 4) like family. Any one who has children who are scared of the dentist or dr's office knows how important it is for them to feel safe and that's what makes them special because they go above and beyond for their patients to make them feel comfortable. I would recommend them to anyone with children

My son Jackson has been going to Kids First Dental since he was 4 years old. The nurses along with Dr. Brown has always been courteous, kind, and considerate towards him. By him being autistic, they know how to talk and keep him calm, and has had a lot of patience with him.
