Regular eye exams are an essential part of keeping both babies, kids and teens on track for educational, social, and developmental success. Children with vision issues often have trouble in school, with sports, interacting with other children and day-to-day functioning. A vision check-up is a great way to keep your child on track for success.

Farsightedness, also known as Hyperopia, is another common condition where you can see objects that are far away better than objects up close. Orthodontic Braces are a great solution to fixing the alignment of the jaw, adjusting the spacing of the teeth, and increasing your kids or teens confidence and self-esteem. The benefits of braces treatments have many positive side-effects for overall dental health as well, including:

Finding the right braces is the first step of the journey for creating a perfect smile. There are several types of braces commonly used today such as traditional metal braces, ceramic or porcelain braces, and removable aligners. Well help you find the best type for your child and teen based on your treatment plan, cost, and desired appearance.

  • Traditional Metal Braces are the most common type of braces, especially for children. Metal braces are highly effective and the most affordable type of orthodontic braces. Metal braces allow the orthodontist to easily and accurately complete monthly visits crafting a perfect smile. Plus, kids and teens have an awesome selection of elastic band colors to mix and match to achieve a look they love!
  • Ceramic or porcelain braces function just like metal braces, however the brackets are less noticeable and the wires are colored to blend in with your child or teens teeth. Clear braces are more expensive than metal braces and can discolor if not regularly cleaned. If you are looking for a less noticeable appearance these are a great option.
  • Removable aligners have become a popular choice in recent years. They are transparent trays that rest on top of the teeth that can be removed during meal times and other activities. Removable aligners are not able to correct significant bite problems and are not usually recommended for children due to the added cost and level of personal responsibility required during treatment. If you are looking for a less noticeable option to correct alignment issues, this may be the right treatment option for you.
  • No insurance, No problem: For adults and children without insurance coverage, we offer a number of affordable payment plans, our orthodontic coordinators can explain these options to determine a plan that works best for you.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children receive their first orthodontic screening no later than age seven. By this age, it will be clear if a child has any jaw alignment problems, overcrowding, overbite or underbite, cross-bite, or additional orthodontic problems impacting a childs mouth. The earlier the orthodontic evaluation, the quicker we can determine if braces are required and what treatment plan is best.

Since Medicaid covers procedures that are medically necessary, orthodontic treatment is could be covered for children. If your child has an underbite, overbite, crossbite or severe crowding it might be time to consider braces for kids with Medicaid.

When a dentist that accepts Medicaid conducts an orthodontic evaluation on your child, they will determine a recommended treatment plan. As part of this, they assess whether Medicaid is likely to cover the orthodontic treatment or not. Medicaid knows that braces can be an important treatment to ensure lifelong oral health for kids. As a dentist that accepts Medicaid, we will manage the full Medicaid approval process which includes submitting the appropriate documents and patient records. Then, Medicaid examiners will look at what we submitted and determine if your childs recommended orthodontic treatment will be covered. Medicaid will notify you and our office if the treatment is approved or declined.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommend children receive their first orthodontic screening by the time they turn 7. At this age, major jaw and tooth alignment problems will be visible. As with any health intervention, the earlier a problem is identified, the easier it is to create a treatment plan and schedule. Some issues that are treated by braces include:

If your child needs orthodontic treatment, it will be an improvement that will last a lifetime. Braces fix more than crooked teeth to create a winning smile. In addition to straightening out your childs teeth, braces also correct bite and tooth alignment. This is important to:

There are other options for braces that are less noticeable than the metal brackets. Some of our older patients like that ceramic or porcelain braces blend in with their teeth. There are also clear braces, but these are more expensive than metal braces and can discolor if not cleaned regularly. Then, there are removable aligners such as Invisalign. These are transparent trays that can be removed during mealtimes. Removable aligners are popular with adults and older kids, but they arent appropriate to treat significant bite problems. We dont recommend removable aligners for most children because they require more responsibility to care for properly.

Sometimes, the orthodontist will recommend two phases of braces depending on the developmental stage of a childs teeth. The first phase might begin around age 7 to 10 years of age to correct issues with your childs primary teeth that could impact the arrival of permanent teeth. During this time, the jaw bones and palette are more pliable.

Around the age of 12, a second phase might be recommended. These braces straighten out the permanent teeth. The time your child will be in braces is dependent on their treatment plan and how well they follow the orthodontists instructions. It can range from 9 months to 30 months.

When your child has braces, it can be more difficult to brush and floss teeth properly, but its very important. Encourage your child with braces to rinse their mouths with water frequently. This helps wash away food particles and restore the pH levels in the mouth to neutral. Acidic foods can wear away tooth enamel.

When your child wears braces, we suggest they brush their teeth after every meal. Your child should pay special attention to their gum line and then focus on brushing above, below and on each bracket. Flossing daily is also critical especially when your child has braces.

I don't recommend this place. Long wait, hard to get appointments and Arine, a woman in front desk is very unprofessional, discriminates, and is very rude. This is the second time, and I am done, I won't go there anymore. The doctor is amazing, but the clinic has to make sure to train Arine, or fire her. She is horrible.

First time visit this past week for my 6 yr old who needed regular cleaning...and turned out we needed to extract a tooth also. All I know is the staff was efficient (pre appointment and during), thorough in breaking down and explaining process, procedure and pricing, very patient, friendly and accommodating. The place was clean and well staffed and the front office was coordinated and professional. Dr Pilikyan ultimately did my child's extraction and she is a gem, this is her calling, what a soft and kind touch she has with children. The experience was my child's first tooth ever pulled but it was not in any way traumatic for him (or I) and we left with smiles and satisfaction. What more does a mother need in her child's dental place, than how our experience turned out? Nothing. It was exceptional and frankly, how every office should be ran. I highly recommend this practice which has a consortia of pediatric dentist and ours was the incredibly well-versed Dr. Ani Pilikyan.

I was very happy with my kids dentist and never had a problem with them personally. However the last few visit have been the worst, when it come to the appointment. I have booked my appointments per usual, and the last 3 times we have had to wait over an hour and even walked out because of how long I've had to wait. If I book an appointment at a specific time I expect to be a seen at that time. I understand sometimes things don't go as planned and maybe running 15 to 20 minutes behind but a whole hour or more it's unacceptable! I feel like lately, they have been overbooking just to get people in. Being overbooked created no room for error which then leads to a time crunch and causes services to be rushed and be less attentive to detail. That leads me to feel like you don't have my kids teeth in your best interest because you now need them in and out. My advice is to please book accordingly and don't take more than you can handle specially if your understaffed.

They are really aggressive with their reminders for appointments, which is nice. But almost all of the time never will you be called on time since they double or triple book the appointment slot. I have to wait in the lobby for an average of 30-45min before getting called, which can be challenging if you are supposed to get back to work. When you ask for an update they make you sit in a room and it takes additional few to for the doctor to show up, they are always short staffed. Understand it's COVID but it would be nice to have some coordination. FYI doctors are awesome whlLen and if you eventually get to meet them.

Honestly all the times I have taken my kids it's been a good experience but yesterday it was bad. The nurse that was doing the clean up on my son was so rough that she ended up hurting him. Another thing that bother me is that they start speaking a different language in front of you while helping you. It's so disrespectful and rude. Keep it professional. If you need to tell a coworker something in a different language at least excuse your self and step out of the room.

I will NEVER go back to this place ever again! They're awful in many ways. We've gone here 3 times and every time has been a nightmare. This most recent visit resulted in an almost 2 hour wait to be seen. We arrived on time and checked in right away. After waiting 15 min. I asked how much longer it would be because I explained I had my 3 month old waiting in the car with someone I had prearranged to come with us. They came back saying we were next. So, I waited patiently. After 45 min I asked them again how much longer it would be. Again, the reply was "you're next". After 1hr 15 min I explained again that I had a baby in the car waiting. Again, you're next. We don't have any open chairs. After complaining a couple more times we were finally taken in. Please keep in mind I have a wild almost 3 yr old. It's very stressful waiting with an impatient toddler as it is and knowing you have your baby in the car as well, is so much more stressful. After 1hr 50 min we were taken in. I asked to speak to the manager. I explained everything to her but she refused to accept any fault or acknowledge that any of this was wrong. I kept explaining that some kind of open communication about the wait times should have been mentioned when I checked in. She dismissed that suggestion. The last two times we've come here, we had a similar wait. I gave them the benefit of the doubt by returning because it was on an emergency basis then. Luckily a cleaning was accomplished (with a lot of fed up screaming) and the Dr. literally only spent 5 minutes with us. I don't understand how if she only spent 5 minutes with us that we had to wait nearly 2hrs to be seen! I'm making this complaint public because I don't want anyone else going through what we did. I've expressed these complaints to them in the past, but they never changed anything or reached out. This is no way to run a business or practice! At the end they asked me for $83. Tbh I lost more than that with how much time was wasted. The worst part of it all was that both kids went to bed late and were starving when we got home. This isn't ok at all!
