An absolute disaster of an office. Look elsewhere.

Rating based on phone experience. Not impressed. Based on reviews here I ended up going elsewhere.

If I could give you zero stars I would do that but you have to give it at least one stars to write a review and I don't know him never went to his doctors office but my son he's autistic and total spectrum rent the downstairs area from Kevin's building so while I will wait on my son in the building not bothering anybody I won't even take phone calls I won't speak loudly I would just wait in the building to my son was done with his session from ABA and he contacted the boss from total spectrum and basically told them he did not want me in the building while I waited all my son and yes I am a black woman but he expressed that he did not want me in the building or sitting in the building where his patients were basically have to walk past me or walk up and down the stairs of the area I was at so that's my experience like I said I never met him I never saw him but I think that was very rude for him to say something like that I never bother nobody I basically was out the way his patience to walk up and down the stairs I just waited on my son from his sessions from total spectrum but I guess he expressed that he didn't want a black woman in the building or on the stairs why his patients had to walk up and downstairs but I was never and no one way and I only said on the stairs which was a couple of times during the winter

I saw him for a root canal because of a broken tooth. When he realized I'd broken my tooth, he rolled his eyes like he was so annoyed with this. He barely spoke a word to me and seemed impatient and irritated. It seems like if you're doing this kind of job, your mannerisms would be kinder and more personal. He's extremely rude. A while later, the crown he put on, came off, causing me all kinds of extra problems to contend with. I would never go back to his practice for anything.

Went for a route canal. He did not fill it properly. Have to have it redone and flushed $1200 down the drain. Kevin Shugars treated my teeth like he's been a mechanic for the past 15 years and decided to switch it up into dentistry. He was rude, unempathetic, and didn't even do his job properly

Last week 12/15/21 I went in for a routine root canal. It was the most devastating experience in my life. I have never felt so abused and yet so vulnerable. I should have read the reviews before allowing Kevin Shugars to work on my tooth. It still brings tears to my eyes when I think about the pain that he caused. My cheek and jaw are bruised, tender and sore. He barely spoke a word and the technician had to explain after I was done that he broke off something and had to redo it. I have heard that he has some personal issues going on. But, that doesn't mean he should take it out on his patients. I honestly never write reviews but you deserve better care than what this guy provides.

I would give this guy 0 stars if I could. My girlfriend was sent here by her dentist for a root canal. Dr shugars took a look and said that she didn't need a root canal she "just needed an adjustment". So he did the adjustment and sent her on her way; in more pain than when she came in. Dr shugars said that it was normal and to give it a few days and if the pain didn't go away to call her dentist. So a few days go by and the pain didn't go away so she scheduled another appointment with her dentist for a month later. So she goes back to the dentist and the dentist says she now needs not one but TWO root canal's. One of which was already supposed to have been done but dr shugars decided not to do it when he was supposed to. Now my girlfriend needs two root canals done instead of one and it could have been avoided if dr shugars would have done his job the right way on the first visit. I don't know if he's just bad at his practice or if he does it on purpose to make more money for himself or what but I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy. Save yourself the trouble and pain and just make a longer trip somewhere else to get your work done right the first time.

WORST RECOMMENDATION DO NOT GO-- I need a Lawyer! Not a Star! The reputation of 25 years in Kalamazoo Dentist he should just retire instead of getting lazy with clients. The board will be investigating this practice when I'm done. It's a pandemic and he will scoff &laugh off the Endodontic care of his patients because is not affecting him. Not to mention the fact that (3) times a visit to Re-treat a root canal entitles some middle ground leniency especially when it comes to the price and dental pain $$$$. Don't go to Kevin A. Shugars, DDS. Instead watch the 10 o'clock News. #Justice !

Went in for a root canal. It didn't go well. He couldn't numb it. It was at the end of the day and it seemed like everyone was in a hurry. Not cool. I went home in pretty extreme pain. They put me on the schedule 2 MONTHS LATER To try again. 2 MONTHS. Unacceptable. I called a place in Grand Rapids, the Root Canal specialists. They had me in the next day. And, after he looked at the xrays and tested the nerve, he suggested I don't have the root canal, but instead get it filled first and see if that takes care of it! He said and I quote, I don't like to give root canals for no reason. So, I got it filled and it's been fine! I might still need a root canal in the future but for now, I don't! I strongly suggest you call the root canal specialists in GR.

Dr. Shugars was wonderful! I had been told by my dentist, that I needed a root canal, and that it would difficult because of a bend in the root. Dr Shugars was gentle, professional, kind and had an upbeat personality. The procedure went very well, and after a couple months I haven't had a single problem. The office staff were efficient and patient explaining everything to me. Overall, a great experience!

As a practicing dentist who worked with Dr. Kevin for nearly 25 years, I would not, and did not, consider sending my patients, or even my loving family members, to any other endodontist as a first choice! He was not ever anything less to his patients, than the high standards I attempted to always uphold when referring our patients to Dr. Shugars as a Specialist. I will say, not knowing every circumstance in these cases, one thing I do know, and was always taught, that it was unethical to add negative comments to a patient who complained about any doctor, without speaking to that doctor who performed the aforementioned treatment! It does nothing to help anyone, and I can also say it creates a litigious climate that a large percent of the time, is totally unnecessary to everyone? My thoughts were almost always to fix or solve any issues that I could, at NO CHARGE for the patient. That gave me more self happiness than any amount of financial retribution, period. All I can say is, I certainly hope these situations have now gained some added "positivity", and that time "healed" any hurtful events, and at least perhaps those who "added fuel to the fire", now realize the importance of weighing all the facts before speaking up? This is the only way any treatment can be looked at, as dentistry as a Profession, looking back compared to many other areas of "expertise" in our world, has done a pretty good job of being a standup profession. I believe dentists truly care, as I feel our association does as well. Please all be safe, and take care, with our best wishes always to everyone here who also care.

My experience was not a good one! Office staff acted like they didn't want to deal with me then Shugars was in a hurry to get my root canal done and didn't get it cleaned out properly so it got infected within 24 hrs. This led to some of the most excruciating pain I've ever been through so I called to let them know and they prescribed an antibiotic that wasnt a good choice for the infection and it took over 72 hrs for it to relieve any pain. My dentist that did the crown said he didn't do a very good job cleaning it out when she pulled out the temporary filling so she had to clean it out to prevent further problems. And so when I called to let them know everything that had happened the staff member acted like she really didn't care that this happened. So all in all not pleased with this office would not recommend it to others!!

I was referred to dr shugars from my dentist to get a root canal. I called the office and the receptionist was very rude. She misunderstood my street name and interrupted me to yell the wrong name back at me asking what I really meant. Then after I told her what I needed done she said, its $1,120 due the day of the appointment can you even pay for that, like do you have insurance? I told her I did not have dental insurance and I planned to pay with a credit card. She said they didnt accept my credit card and told me to have a nice day. I will never use this dentist and with a front office person like that, I'm surprised anyone does! Good customer service is rare these days.
