In addition to practicing dentistry, Dr. Shimizu is on the Peer Review Board of the Orange County Dental Society. He belongs to the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Orange County Dental Society and the Japanese American Dental Society.

Bernadette (Bernie) Riggi, R.D.H., is a registered dental hygienist. She graduated from Cerritos College dental hygiene program. She has been in the dental field for 27+ years, first as a dental assistant and now as a RDH. She has been with the office for 24 years and the last 17 has been with Dr. Shimizu. She was a member of the part time faculty U.S.C. dental school non surgical periodontal department for 15 years. She also worked for 11 years at Childrens Dental Center. She has three children, four grandchildren and is awaiting the birth of her fifth grandchild. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and friends, she also enjoys traveling and going on road trips. She has done volunteer work with Flying Samaritans and volunteers at her church. As a hygienist Bernie will be involved with your oral hygiene and hygiene instruction, she will help you with any hygiene questions you may have and make recommendations regarding your oral hygiene as it relates to your health.
Vanessa graduated from San Joaquin Valley College and became a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2015. She has lived in Orange County for five years and has gained experience working in general dentistry as well as pediatric and periodontal practices. Vanessa is passionate about providing the utmost care to her patients and giving them a thorough, gentle, and educational experience. She is always looking for ways to educate and encourage patients to maintain their best periodontal health. Vanessa currently resides in Newport Heights with her spouse and three dogs.
Michele graduated from Northridge high school in Greeley, CO.After active duty in the US Army she graduated from Carrington College in Pomona, CA as a dental assistant.She has gained over six years experience in general dentistry as well as pediatric. Michele is determined to educate patients and help assist the Dr to provide a comfortable positive dental experience.
Komi Kwan was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Before becoming a dental hygienist, Komi attending UCLA where she obtained her bachelor's degree in psychology. After graduating from UCLA, Komi's passion for dentistry and her desire to help others grew. Rather than pursuing a degree in psychology, she decided to continue her education in dental hygiene. Komi graduated from USC's School of Dentistry in 2011 with a bachelor's in dental hygiene. As a dental hygienist, her focus is on providing high quality care and education patients on how to maintain their most optimal oral health.
When Komi isn't busy working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son. She enjoys going to Disneyland just as much as her toddler does. She also enjoys snowboarding, hiking and riding her bike at the beach.

Well, I broke a tooth on a life saver( I know ironic right) . Our dentist had retired when Covid hit so I needed a new one. Dr. Shimizu is where I was referred to by my regular dentist. I only had one day to take care of it & the sweetest receptionist was able to get me in . She messaged me the paperwork so when I arrived I would be set to go in. When I arrived I barely sat down & was called back to X-rays . Two minutes later Dr Shimizu came in & introduced himself. He gave me my options & allowed me to decide without pressure. New filling, no pain , reasonable rates & out with in an hour. I have a new dentist. I suggest trying them out if you are needing a new dentist.

Amazing staff! Got me in a moments notice to fix a cracked tooth. Very understanding and pleasant. Dr. Shimizu Is the best .

After a hiatus of 6 months due to The Corona Virus, I returned for a cleaning which went well. Fortunately, my dental hygienist was also able to point out some other problem areas. These were referred to Dr Shimizu which resulted in consultations to other dentists.

My family has been seeing Dr. Shimizu for years and I actively recommend him to anyone who is in need of a great dentist. He is very detail oriented and genuinely cares about his patients and their dental needs. He always takes the time to explain any procedures and in answering my questions. The office team is all friendly and accommodating.

Dentist and staff are super nice and efficient. Dr. Shimizu is kind, gentle and most of all HONEST! He addressed his concerns about my teeth and told me what needs the most attention. I am happy I found someone who cares about my teeth instead of making a profit out of me. Highly recommend this place.

This was my first cleaning with this office and the (substitute) hygienist was excellent. It had been close to two years, I think, since my last cleaning. He gave me some tips that I had never heard or thought of before and answered questions regarding flossing options ( I have new bridges).

We moved to the area a few years ago and we have been looking for a good family dentist since then... We finally found him! Dr. Shimizu and his team are super friendly, they do a great job and they make you feel comfortable right away. We are glad we found a great dentist close to home!

Very nice people..make you feel very comfortable. Dr. Shimizi is very professional and caring. He thoroughly explains the procedure before and during the process. He makes sure there is little to no pain. He is quite thorough. I recommend him to anyone who needs a dentist because I am very impressed with him and his entire staff.

I get regular cleanings, X-rays and some minor work here and there - I have been coming to Dr Shimizu's office for several years and they have actually helped me achieve my fear of the dentist, and improved my overall oral health and hygiene!! Both me and my hubby highly recommend this dental office (the whole staff rocks).

I've been going to Dr. Shimizu's office for about 15 years. He and his team have always taken wonderful care of me. They are on time, gentle, kind, funny and reliable. They feel like family. I'd recommend them to everyone. :)

My friend recommended doctor. Shimizu, staff especially Elaine and Maria who I just interacted with today are fantastic, which I don't doubt that the rest are as well. Office is super clean, plenty of parking, scheduling is not a hassle and doctor seemed very knowledgeable.

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE. When You walk in this place it's very modern and clean. When You walk out they are all SMILES. This is because they know what the are about to do to You. 2 weeks later get $800 bill in the mail. When I left they charged me $400 and said insurance would take care of the rest. I was never given an estimate for any work..... ALL OF A SUDDEN "insurance didn't cover everything. Don't believe I should have had to pay anything else since estimate was NEVER GIVEN. THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF.

I lost a cap on the weekend and this dentist came in on his off day to open the office and put it back. This is the second time he had taken care of an issue on the weekend. So how can you get better than that? plus the work was done in a short period of time and done correctly. Thank you Doctor. I just had another issue that needed immediate attention and like always the good doctor made room for me and took care of the issue
