Dr. McClain completed his undergraduate training at Brigham Young University (BYU) with a degree in Physiology and Developmental Biology. He attended dental school at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry and immediately following, received valuable training at the OU Childrens Hospital General Practice Residency (during which he worked in tandem with the local VA, delivering care to military veterans). He received his certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Dr. McClain is a member of the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Kentucky Dental Association, and The Kentucky Association of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. McClain was born in Michigan into a Military family but spent a majority of his childhood and teenage years in Altus, Oklahoma. Dr. McClains wife, a native of Kentucky, quickly sold him on the magnificence of the horse capital of the world and the beauty of the BlueGrass country. He is excited to call Shelbyville his new home with his wife, Grace, and their three children, Maxwell, Jacob, and Anna-Josephine. Dr. Tim loves experiencing new places, from traveling to visit friends in foreign countries or learning new skills, like wood carving and snow sculpting, if given the opportunity its usually hard to say no.

Staff is amazing they do great with my son that has autism. They are very patient with him. I would recommend them to all parents. dentist is super nice jokes with my kids and is always smiling nice to walk in and see people that really enjoy their jobs.

Dr. Mitchell is rude. I was talking to him and he ignored me and started talking to a staff member. While he was putting a cap on my son's tooth, my son was screaming that he could feel it, they did give him a shot to numb the area. I'm trying to calm him down and Mitchell told him, in a rude tone "stop screaming, can't get it done with you screaming". I also payed for them to use the gas on my son so he could be asleep during it and Mitchell didn't even wait for him to go asleep. My son was crying on and off that his tooth hurts for almost an hour. If it was numb properly my son shouldn't have felt it and he shouldn't be crying afterwards. From the time that my son got the gas, to the time he was done and I payed for the bill, it was a total of 40 minutes. A cap is normally 60-90 minute process, not including paying for the bill. Mitchell rushes this and did not care for his patient (my son,7). This was my first and LAST vist!

I give my highest recommendation. This is the best pediatric dentist I have found in the extended area, as well as the best I have found in the several states we have lived in. Doctor Mitchell is very good with the kids, does not belittle them, is very gentle, smiles a lot, and is very FAST! His work has stood the test of time and has proven to be of best quality. The office team and hygienists are equally as kind and friendly and my kids always leave laughing and smiling!

Dr. Mitchell and his staff are absolutely AMAZING! My 4 year old daughter was not thrilled to be having a tooth extracted but He and his staff were very comforting, understanding and gentle. You couldn't ask for a better experience as a parent. (My older son also had to have work done years ago and we had the same experience) I recommend this office to anyone seeking a pediatric dentist and will not be taking my children to anyone else!

Dr. Mitchell is known for screaming at kiddos if they are scared, which only escalates the situation, as well as parents. There are several cases I've heard of and one involving a child with cerebral palsy. He does not need to be working with children.
