Kellam Orthodontics

711 5th St, Las Vegas, NM 87701

Dr. Kellam hada lot more hair when he graduated from Cibola High School in Albuquerque. He then attended UNM where he studied engineering for enough years to realize that maybe being an engineer wasnt for him 'That math was really hard'. Jokes Dr. K, 'I had to drop out and go to dental school'. Well, Dr. K found his passion in dentistry, graduating at the very top of his class at Oregon Health Sciences University. He then went on to his orthodontic residency at Baylor College of Dentistry where he used his mediocre engineering skills to develop a computer model simulating how braces move teeth. The American Association of Orthodontists must have been impressed because they awarded him one of the top two awards in the nation for his residency. 'Of course, back then the computers were bigger than my couch!'

When Dr. K is not creating beautiful smiles, raising 3 kids keeps him very busy. He spends his free time wishing he had his kids at a younger age so he can keep up with his teen boys on their skiis, bikes and on the basketball court. His daughter delights in bouncing Dr. Kellams 50-year old body all over the trampoline.

Amalialoves getting to know our patients and their families. 'They become my friends and I love helping my friends change their lives by changing their smiles. I assist Dr. Kellam with bonding and adjustments. I support him and keep our patients updated on what were doing. At the end of a procedure, I explain any home care instructions and make sure the patient is happy with the visit.'

Amy was originally hired by Dr. Kellam back in 1997 as an assistant. Lucky for her, he has a terrible memory and forgot all about her office pranks so in 2014 he rehired her as the Front Office Coordinator of the Santa Fe, Las Vegas and Espanola offices (Bahahahahaha!!!). She has been called the front office princess, cookie Nazi and a slew of other vaguely descriptive words. If there is something that is probably best left unsaid, you can count on Amy to say it loudly and laugh hysterically afterwards.

Amy is a mother of two beautiful daughters and a fitness boot camp enthusiast. She often turns into a drill sergeant at office team builders, which is both funny and frightening to the staff. She considers it motivational speaking. This is probably a left over side effect from her days as a gymnastics and Parkour coach.

Anjelica is the youngest of the Kellam Orthodontic team, AKA the baby face of the office. Shes quiet and mild-mannered with a dash of sass when her hair is pulled up tight and her eyebrows on fleek everyday. Although she is the quiet one in the practice, she can definitely put on her big girl pants when needed to tell anyone no nicely, with a smile on her face.

Whenever she isnt looking up hair and make-up tutorials on YouTube, she enjoys being around her loving family. Her boyfriend/best friend of 6 years, baby Chihuahua Bella, fatty fat cat Mittens, and her super beast Saint Bernard Diamond. Some hobbies she enjoys is being outdoors (fishing/camping) surrounded by family and friends. She also likes the color pink and has a love for pizza, but not the good kind, definitely the ones at all the wrong places.

Josie, AKA the office ninja, AKA the task-master is our Treatment Coordinator and Office Manager. She is the reality show queen, whose dream in life is to be a contestant on Big Brother or The Amazing Race or to travel the country in her RV with her husband and their 2 dogs.

Josies special talents are falling asleep at the drop of a hat (especially on trips to our satellite offices), making a mean iced coffee and speaking fluent sarcasm. Josie loves music, food, hiking, coffee, working out and shopping, oh and did we mention shopping?

When Tammy is not dreaming of being a lioness-haired mermaid who sits under a shady palm tree contemplating how to make the world a better place by making fun cakes, drawing cartoon pictures or creating her latest crafty project, she is the Front Desk Coordinatorand Medicaid Insurance Specialist and all-around jack-of-all-trades for our Albuquerque office.

Tammy has been an orthodontic assistant for over 20 years. She started out working in the lab for Dr. Gary Kellam (her dad), and the rest is history. After Gary Kellam retired, Tammy was asked to come aboard the crazy train with her big brother, Dr. Stephen Kellam.

Please play along if you see a kick me post-it note stuck to Dr. Kellams back. Joking, sarcasm and quick-wit are things that Tammy takes very, very seriously. Tammy will always greet you with a smile and occasionally break out into a funky song and dance. Dont be alarmed if she bursts out laughing at any moment for apparent reason. Dont worry, shes harmless.

For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for receiving orthodontic care. If you're self-conscious about your smile, correcting your concerns with braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.

When your treatment is complete, you will have the smile you've always dreamed of and the confidence to show it off! We also want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your entire orthodontic experience, and our practice is dedicated to making sure that you receive the quality care you deserve.

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.

Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!

Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.
