Dr. Lopez is a native of Northern Virginia. She graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelors in Biology and pursued her dental career at Howard University College of Dentistry where she was top ten in her class. Dr. Lopez knew from an early age that she wanted to be a Dentist, seeing the profession of Dentistry as the perfect blend of Medicine, Art, and Personal relationship. Dr. Lopez has a true passion for dentistry and enjoys learning all aspects of her profession every chance she gets. She maintains the highest levels of accreditation and pursues ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest trends in dentistry. Being a conscientious practitioner, she is committed to excellence and will apply her expertise to your dental needs. Dr. Lopez is fluent in English and in Spanish.

Dr. Melody Butler was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. She lived with her family in the Raleigh area through high school. Dr. Butler then attended Meredith College where she earned her undergraduate degree in Biology with a concentration in Health Science. For her studies in Dentistry, Dr. Butler moved to Columbus, Ohio to attend The Ohio State University. At Ohio State she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Post-graduation, Dr. Butler moved to the Northern Virginia area where she first started practicing in Leesburg and Lorton. She is excited to be a part of the Alexandria Dental Smiles family.

Dr. Butler takes multiple continuing education courses to keep up with all the advances in dentistry. She is experienced in performing comprehensive dentistry including invisalign. She is a member of the American Dental Association.

After graduating from the University of Central Florida where he received his Bachelors in Molecular and Microbiology, Dr. Burkes went straight into Dental School. He graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery. Following his graduation he enrolled and finished a General Practice Residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. To increase his knowledge and level of care, Dr. Burkes continued his education by attending Medical School at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center - School of Medicine where he received his Medical Degree. He then continued on to Texas A & M University Baylor College of Dentistry where he received his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Degree.

Irishasso much positive energy and a love of dentistry which reflects inthe office every day via her patient interaction. She will make you feellike part of our dental family when you are here ! She will greet you with a huge smile on her face. She truly enjoys the dental field and loves treating our patients especially the children.
