Dr. Lam attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for her bachelors degree, where she was on the Deans List and a member of the National Honor Society. She completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at Howard University College of Dentistry in 2002 and then attended a residency at Waterbury Hospital Health Center in Connecticut, which is where she met her husband (who is also a dentist) for the first time. She later became the Assistant Director for the hospitals dental clinic. Today, she keeps her skills up-to-date by regularly undergoing continuing education courses through Spear.
At home, Dr. Lam and her husband have two children. Their son plays golf and the guitar, while their daughter is a gymnast who is also talented at the piano. When she isnt busy at work, her own personal hobbies include walking in the woods at the forest reserves, reading, sewing, knitting and playing ping pong.

If were able to catch gum disease early enough, a scaling and root planing treatment is likely all well need to do to stop the infection in its tracks. Think of it as a dental cleaning that is just for your gums. First, well remove plaque and bacteria from below your gum line and the tiny spaces between your teeth (scaling), and then well slightly reshape the roots of your teeth to make them smoother (root planing).
