Before I came here, I'd been waiting over a year to get my wisdom teeth out as I'm barely an adult and haven't been taught how to or given the ability to manage my own healthcare. My mom scheduled me an appointment at a totally different place in Sioux Falls and that appointment was more of an initial consult, and we would've had to go back a second time to actually get my teeth out. The people there took a lot of x-rays even though I already had some from a dentist I'd seen a couple weeks prior, the place was dirty and they told me I had cavities and bleeding gums even though the dentist I'd seen before said my teeth were great and all I needed was my wisdom teeth out and regular cleanings. I left that appointment crying. I owe the people at Spencer & Lakes an apology. I came into my appointment here stressed and apprehensive. My previous history with healthcare workers in general is not good and I've had maybe three positive experiences in my life, including this one. I'm 18 and have not been to a dentist regularly since I was 6. The paperwork scared me, being there scared me at first and I'm really sorry if I came off as harsh to the lady who brought me into the room initially - you were very nice and I hope I didn't ruin your day. I got all four wisdom teeth out in one appointment. I had general anesthesia. I'd never had surgery or been under anesthesia before for any reason so it was a big scary unknown. Needles are scary for me and the last time I had an IV before my visit here didn't go well, there were several attempts and there ended up being a mess when it was finally done. Not here. I did feel a pinch but it wasn't bad at all and it was only one attempt. I remember asking if they needed my septum piercing out for the oxygen - they said the only piercing they would be concerned about was a tongue piercing, which I don't have (but if anyone else considering going here reads this and has piercings and is socially anxious like me then I hope that helps - am not speaking for them though as other cases could be different). Then my mom left the room and I don't remember anything until I started waking up. I woke up for a few seconds and didn't see anyone in the room and I was so cold and wanted my jacket and then I was out again. And then I finally woke up and wasn't loopy at all, just annoyed that I was awake because it was such a nice nap (which is pretty normal for me lol). The nice lady helped me take pain meds before I left and gave me a doctor's note for my work which I really appreciate. I got out to the car with my mom and we drove home and stopped to get some jello and stuff. My lower lip was so numb but that wore off in a couple hours. My mom told me that they had pulled all four teeth in around 25 mins if I remember correctly, and was out for well under an hour. I only had a slight issue with one tooth because the root broke and they had to dig for it a bit and add a couple of stitches. The stitches are mildly annoying but bearable and the other three spaces feel kinda like I just lost a tooth normally. I've basically been sleeping since I got home, the combo of acetaminophen and ibuprofen and healing has kept me so thoroughly knocked out that I was only able to shower Thursday afternoon (appointment was Tuesday afternoon) and have only been awake to eat and watch a bit of Netflix. The swelling isn't awful, the tiny rip on the corner of my lip (presumably from just having my mouth held open) hurts more than the one painful tooth (or should I say lack of tooth) and it's not bad either. TLDR: a big thank you and I'm sorry to the people here, you did amazing on me and I hope when I finally get access to a regular dentist they're as good as you. Also, strawberry milkshakes are incredible after oral surgery

Best for sure! I had a ton of anxiety going in. But the shots didn't hurt, and tooth was out before I even knew it. Everyone here is amazing.

In and out! Very quickly done and made sure I was good and numb before starting. Everyone was very nice. I had asked for nitrous, but we all forgot about it until it was over! Doctor was so good I didn't even need it! Would recommend.

Extraction #13 at Worthington. Had a very good experience. Total time 90 minutes. Dr. was technically very proficient and quick. Anesthetic shots took fraction of a second with minimal pain. Skillful in removing tooth explaining there would be no pain, but only pressure and possible noises. Consulted regarding restoration / implant, recommending graft to repair previously damaged bone. No requirement to stay for multiple 30 minute intervals to observe stopped bleeding. Bleeding minimal and stopped in 7 hours. No swelling. Minimal discomfort. Relieved stress by telling two third-grade humor riddles - What do you call cow with 2 legs? - Lean beef.

Another good experience with this office. All staff from Dr. on down are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Had to wait a while for the Dr. on this appointment but staff assisting did a really nice job of checking in with me and keeping me informed. Makes all the difference when you're waiting.
