Dentistry has truly been my passion for over 25 years! I am devoted to helping my patients achieve their dream smile. My practice philosophy is helping my patients achieve optimal oral health, utilizing the the highest standards of care in the most comfortable way possible.
I take a boutique approach to patient care. My team and I take ample time to listen to patient needs and build a treatment plan that supports each patient's unique oral care goals. We are comprehensive in our service offering and proudly offer a variety of general, restorative and cosmetic dental services. I am also a provider of Invisalign Clear Aligners. Patient care, comfort and safety will always be our top priority.
I am a proud member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society, and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. I am also a delegate to the Maryland State Dental Association as well as an appointee to the Budget and Finance Committee and the Membership Committee. I have been named 'US Top Dentist' by Consumers Research Council of America yearly for the last 15 years.
Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, I received an Honors Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Guelph. I came to the United States to study dentistry and earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University. Earlier in my career, I spent a year and a half practicing dentistry and working with the Inuit community, in the Canadian Arctic.
Away from the office, I love to spend time with my husband and three children in our home in Alexandria. I enjoy a variety of sports, including skiing, both water and downhill, rowing, tennis and pilates. Another passion of mine is gardening. I love to nurture and grow flowers and then arrange them to share with patients, brightening the office and our spirits!
Dr. Adel 'Al' Rizkalla graduated fromGeorgetown University School of Dentistry with honors in 1988. He also completed a General Practice residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Rizkalla was the President of the Northern Virginia Dental Society (NVDS) and also represented Northern Virginia for many years as a member of the Executive Board of the Virginia Dental Association (VDA).
In 2013, Dr. Rizkalla was appointed to the Virginia Board of Dentistry and in 2016 he was elected President of the Board. He has held several positions in the Virginia Dental Association and theNorthern Virginia Dental Society including, Continuing Education Chairman, Peer Review Committee Chairman, Executive Committee Chairman, Ethics Committee Chairman and Dental Health and Public Information Committee.

I studied Biology and Psychology at the University of Virginia and graduated in 2016. I love to work with my hands and in fact I used to teach cooking classes in college!

Dr. Harriman and her staff are very friendly and professional. The staff are very welcoming and make you feel very comfortable. Dr. Harriman is the best dentist I've ever been to. She is very good and educated in her field. I will highly recommend Dr. Harriman.

Dr Harriman uses up to date equipment, such as digital x-rays, that give immediate results, compares with prior X-rays and saves time. The dental Hygienist Molly is very thorough and all the staff are easy to deal with.

Our family switched to Dr. Harriman more than a year ago after years of challenges getting regular appointments. What a refreshing change. From your first interactions, Dr. Harriman and her team demonstrate care and professionalism. You get easy reminders of appointments. The calls are friendly and authentic. Visits with Dr. Harriman and her outstanding staff are not just about maintenance and the months in between visits, they are about ensuring and protecting your teeth for the long-term. As a parent, who could want more? With Dr. Harriman, I don't get a passive "their teeth look great" She rolls out a big screen and walks you through where they are today and more importantly, might be tomorrow. I know my two children, soon to be able to make their own decisions about dental care, will stay with Dr. Harriman and be well taken care through their adult lives.

Dr. Rizkalla has been my family's dentist for decades so I was nervous about trying someone else when Dr. Harriman took over his practice. But there was nothing to worry about. Dr. Harriman is a wonderful dentist! She is very professional, thorough and knowledgeable. Also, Maria is great dental assistant! I highly recommend this practice.

We both have been patients of Dr. Rizkalla for several years. We came to Dr. Rizkalla after our prior long-time family dentist began to miss problems with our teeth. Dr. Rizkalla is always very thorough, professional, and careful. The same applies to his hygienist. The office and equipment is always spotless and the entire staff is very friendly. We strongly recommend Dr. Rizkalla as an outstanding general dentist. October 2021 - We have continued to see Dr. Rizkalla during the pandemic. We appreciate that his office has taken extraordinary safety precautions to help reduce the spread of Covid-19 and are very comfortable seeing him during this health emergency.
