Braces - Orthodontic appliances usually consist of brackets attached to the surfaces of the teeth and a series of flexible wires that are adjusted periodically to gradually and gently move the teeth toward their intended positions. The brackets most commonly are made of metal. For some patients clear or tooth-colored ceramic brackets may be recommended. Metal brackets have the advantage of being sturdier, thus resisting breakage and permitting adjustments to be made with a high degree of precision.
Invisalign - Invisalign is an innovative, orthodontic appliance system that accomplishes bite correction and tooth alignment using a series of clear, virtually invisible, overlay templates called aligners. 3-D computer technology is employed to translate the orthodontist's detailed treatment plan into a series of these aligners, each of which is designed to produce a small amount of sequential tooth movement.
Now, as a result of advances in technology and many years of experience using aligner systems, Dr. McCulloch confidently recommend Invisalign for more complex bite problems. In some special situations aligner technology may be combined with conventional braces to take advantage of the positive attributes of both systems. Irrespective of the treatment method chosen, the goal is to always ensure the best possible outcome.
When you make an investment in your smile, it is necessary to 'retain' the position of the teeth by holding them in place with a retainer. Vivera retainers are 3-dimensional retainers that hold the position of your teeth and retain their position when worn as directed.

Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Dr. McCulloch moved to the Pacific Northwest to pursue her graduate degree in Orthodontics from the University of Washington following dental school at the University of British Columbia. After completing Orthodontics, she joined the faculty at the University of Washington in the department of Pediatric Dentistry as a clinical professor as well as entering private practice. She has published several scientific papers and maintains an active membership in many professional societies.

I had a great experience at Mercer Island Smiles. Dr. McCulloch was very efficient and I was done in less than a year. The office is so unique with Quinton the dog. He is so comforting and sweet! I have already recommended many people to this office.

Our son has been seeing Dr. McCulloch in anticipation of needing braces. All of our visits were great. The staff were so great with my anxious son and had some great tricks to handle his strong gag reflex while getting fitted for a retainer. At one of our visits I asked about my own teeth as I have never had braces before and I was told I'd be a great candidate for Invisalign. The process to be evaluated was quick and easy. Dr McCulloch told me I would need Invisalign for 4-6 months, it could be 4 months if I worked hard to wear them 22 hours a day. I love a good challenge and kept up my end of the deal and wore my trays consistently. Today it's been 4 months and I got to have my attachments taken off! My smile looks amazing! Dr McCulloch even fixed some unevenness on the tops of my teeth so that my smile looks even better:). Just such a pleasant and positive experience with the entire staff. My husband is going to do Invisalign as well and our 2 daughters will eventually see her for braces too! Orthodontics Associates of Mercer Island is a great place for the whole family

Her attributes formulated a trust that ensured me she would do what she said. All that she asked was my full commitment wearing the Invisalign. It was a simple request that I took seriously, and the results speak for themselves. Dr. McCulloch is absolutely fantastic. She has gone out of way on multiple occasions to care for my daughter, including on coming in on a holiday to remove my daughter's braces. She did an amazing job despite my daughter being uninterested in her own oral care. I am very happy with the results!

Dr. McCulloch and her team are outstanding! Myself and 2 kids all use them for our orthodontics and I can't recommend them enough. Dr. McCulloch is highly technical and detail oriented. We had to work through some issues around missing permanent teeth with both kids. She made sure that we were informed about the options and process, and then coordinated the details with their dentist and oral surgeon. We feel lucky to have found her!

Recently got braces, and it was surprisingly fine! The staff is incredibly nice, and they make sure to explain everything they do. One other thing to make you want to go here, there is often a doggie there to help calm you down. 10/10 would recommend

It's super great! I've gotten braces put on and taken off here, both times I had a wonderful experience and my teeth are very sparkly :) P.S. (the people are really gentle which is nice because I have sensitive teeth)

I had adult braces at 45. I chose Dr. McCulloch and a pandemic year to do so and I could t be happier!! Dr McCulloch is the best! I found her to be professional honest, efficient and pleasant and I feel the same about the staff. I have seen several of her techs and only had good experiences. Marissa at the front desk is always friendly and always knows my name. I felt very comfortable with the office and the precautions they are taking to ensure everyone is safe during the pandemic. And then there is Quentin...if you love dogs, this is the orthodontist for you! Five stars, would absolutely recommend!
