Dr. Kanca is our trusted and experienced dentist at Middlebury Smiles. His passion is providing General, Family, Cosmetic and Pediatric Dentistry that surpasses other dental practices in the area and provides healthy, beautiful smiles.

Dr. Kanca completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Connecticut and continued on to receive his DMD at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. He is a founding member and was the 4th President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and is also a member of the American Dental Association as well as the Connecticut State Dental Association. He has been awarded Fellowships with the following academies:

He is married to his wonderful wife, Janet Kanca, and together they have three grown children, John Kanca IV, Jeffrey Scott Kanca, and Jaimie Lynn Kanca. The Kanca family also includes two dogs- a Maltese name Riley (technically Riley is Jaimies dog) and a Sheltie named Lacey. Dr. Kanca enjoys golf, skiing, writing, spending time with family and is a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Dawn is our dental hygienist and has been in the dental industry for over 27 years. She graduated from University of Bridgeport where she received her Associates in Science as well as her degree in Dental Hygiene. She is CPR and EMT certified and is a member of the ADHA (American Dental Hygienists Association). Dawn has one son, named Christopher, and she also has a Golden Doodle named Matteo.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors gardening, going to car shows, the beach, and the dog park. She also loves visiting Cape Cod and spends as much timeas possible there. Dawn loves her career. Helping people achieve and maintain their dental health is her primary goal!

Chrissie wears many hats in our office and has been in the dental industry since 1988. She works the Front Desk, is our Office Manager, Dental Assistant, and also handles our Finance and Human Resources. She is a graduate of the Peele Academy in Long Sutton, England. Chrissieis married to her long-time husband, Michael Falcone and they have twin boys, Dominic and Geoffrey. Her and her husband have a dog named Cooper and two cats named Minnie and Kida.

In her free time, Chrissie enjoys Zumba, weight training, and walking. She holds frequent fundraisers for our local animal shelters. She also enjoys working with Food for the Poor at her church.She met her husband when he was stationed in England while serving in the USAF and she claims she is his souvenir. She has built a great relationship with our patients and their families and she looks forward to helping you meet your dental goals!
