When it comes to finding kids dentists in Kalamazoo, Michigan, we understand you have plenty of options. We believe our office offers the best care and that starts with our dentists. We have the privilege of having two pediatric dentists in the practice. Both Dr. Ryan Basler and Dr. Nathan van Hofwegen work as a team to provide patients with dental care that exceeds expectations.
Dr. Ryan Baslergraduated from Albion College in 2002 and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology.Dr. Basler continued his education at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery. While at Marquette, Dr. Basler was vice-president of Give Kids a Smile, a program that sent dental students into schools to educate and perform sealants on young children. While in dental school, he also volunteered his dental services to underprivileged patients in Guatemala.
His years of volunteer work with children led him towards the path to becoming a pediatric dentist. He completed a general practice residency in Providence, Rhode Island, where he primarily treated children.He then moved to Buffalo and completed his pediatric dental residency at Childrens Hospital of Buffalo.After completion of the residency, Dr. Basler and his family moved back to Michigan where he is now a partner atKalamazoo Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Basler is married to his wife, Jeselyn. They have eight children: Brooks, Bella, Bracken, Braelynn, Bennett, Blaise, Bryce, and Brogen. When he is not working, Dr. Basler enjoys spending time with his family and being involved in his church. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and playing a variety of sports.

Great first appointment for my toddler! Staff is excellent at age appropriate care and recommendations for maintaining dental hygiene at home for a toddler.

The team was incredible, the facility is clean, and they use cutting edge technology. I brought three of my four kids in this morning (two of which like to climb on everything). The layout of the office made it super easy for me to keep my eyes on all of them while they were getting their cleanings. Dr. Van found a cavity on my oldest daughter and was able to fill it the same day. BONUS... he has the laser so he was able to do it without getting her numb!!!! Great experience all-around. We are really glad we found this place.

This place is bad, they pull out teeth for no reason. It can lead to ptsd and phobias. Lastly there are men there are just merciless and they just don't care about your mental health they just earn too much money, from the last kid who has so many cavities.

I cannot thank Dr. Basler and his office staff enough for today. My 5 year old had to have a front tooth extracted and they were able to see us in a timely manner and managed to get the tooth extracted as quickly as possible. The overwhelming kindness from both Dr. Basler and his assistants today made this trauma so much less awful than I had imagined. My son is home, sleeping gently, and awaiting the tooth fairy. Thank you all!

Absolutely the best choice we could have made for our daughter. Dr. Ryan goes above and beyond and his staff is excellent. We are lucky to have him in Kalamazoo.

They have always been very good with my children. We came because of dental emergency with an infant and keep going back despite the drive because of our experience.

We would highly recommend Kalamazoo pediatric dentistry to anyone looking for a dentist for their children. The newly renovated building is warm and inviting, the staff is always smiling, and Dr. Van makes a special effort to connect with our kids on each visit. One of my favorite things is that if your child ever has serious work done, you can expect to get a follow up call from Dr. Van sometime after the treatment. He always makes sure the child (and the parents) are doing ok and if there are any questions that can be answered.

We take all 4 of our boys there (and will take our 5th when he gets teeth ). All the staff are amazing and the dentists are too! We often end up with Dr Basler and he is so great with the kids. He even filled cavities flawlessly on our 8 year old while he had a continual cough and kept moving. The kids actually enjoy going to the dentist and their new location is very kid friendly!
