Dr. Gerald Adachi is driven by a passion to bring you personalized and quality dental care. He has dedicated himself to pursuing the most advanced forms of treatment available, and remains at the forefront of the profession throughhis focus on continuing education.
He has served for over 30 years with the Hawaii Dental Association as part of the Continuing Education Committee and chair of the Dental Education Program, which plans programs and courses for dental professionals across Hawaii.
Dr. Adachi is a graduate of the University of Southern California and received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. After completing his residency at St. Francis Hospital, Dr. Adachi began his own practice.
Dr. Adachi is married to Rona and together they have raised two wonderful children, Daniel and Dana. In his spare time, Dr. Adachi enjoys cooking, kayak fishing, playing with his Havanese dogs, and spending time with his family.
Dr. Dana Adachi grew up in Honolulu, and is a graduate of Iolani School and the University of Hawaii at Manoa. At the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude and in the top five percent of her class. She was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
Dr. Adachi continued on to complete her General Practice Residency at the University of Southern California, where she did her clinical training at the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center and the Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Clinic.
Dr. Adachis dedication to excellence, passion for caring for her patients, and a strong sense of ethics and community are the foundation of her practice philosophy. She is a motivated clinician, who believes in the importance of providing her patients with the best, most comprehensive care possible. She is committed to enhancing her patients well-being and oral health, and strives to make each dental visit a positive and comfortable experience.
Jan, our scheduling coordinator for the Hygiene Department, will greet you with aloha when you come into our dental office. She will review the coverage of your dental benefits and help provide you with all applicable insurance information. On a sunny day, you can find her out riding her motorcycle or enjoying time with her family and friends.
Stacie has been a dental hygienist for over 12 years and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She loves getting to know her patients and helping them achieve a healthy dental lifestyle. In her free time, she enjoys playing and watching volleyball, and spending time with her husband and twin daughters.
Born and raised in Canada, Melanie moved to Hawaii with her husband and two kids in 2005. Melanie is a board certified Registered Dental Assistant in both Canada and California. With over 20 years of experience in the dental field, she has a true passion for dentistry. If you struggle with dental fear, Melanie will help ease those nerves with her friendly conversation that is a mix of Canadian and the aloha spirit. Away from the dental office, she enjoys practicing a fit and healthy lifestyle.
Madison moved to Hawaii in 2014 from Southern California. She and her fianc have a beautiful, spunky 4-year-old daughter. Madison has worked in Oral Surgery for 10 years, and is a certified Dental Assistant and Surgical Anesthesia Assistant. On her days off, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading, going to the beach, and being outdoors.

Dr. Gerald Adachi and his team are a blessing!!! I am so lucky to have found them by chance! From booking an appointment to getting my teeth fixed it was overall a great experience. Highly recommend 10/10. Jen was amazing! I was in severe pain and she was able to get me to see Dr. Adachi the same day. They were supposed to close early that day but Dr. Adachi squeezed me in and actually stayed over time until he was able to help relieve my pain. Dr. Adachi is a kind, caring, and compassionate dentist. Along with his well-trained staff (which unfortunately I did not get their names, young girls) were also professional and friendly. They are constantly checking to see if you're okay, making sure everything is painless. No judgment, scolding, or inappropriate remarks. They treat you like family. The office itself is very comfortable! Their rooms are separated so you'll have privacy, the view is nice and they play local jams to help keep your mind off the noise. They also have validated parking which added a bonus. Leah is great at explaining what is covered by insurance and owed by you. I appreciate the transparency! Before I left his office, I noticed that Dr, Adachi had an award from the top dentist in Honolulu Magazine. Jen let me know that he does no advertising and gets all his clients from word of mouth. Amazing! So I decided to carry that tradition on via social media. If you're looking for a dentist in the Honolulu area, look no further! Dr. Adachi and his team are the best in town. P.S I forgot to mention that I was a new patient and they treated me amazingly. Can't imagine how they treat their regulars! Thank you so much, Dr. Adachi and the Kaka'ako Smiles Ohana! I was blown away by how amazing they are! Kaka'ako Smiles is the nicest dentist I have ever been too! They sit you down and clearly go over everything you need done to make your teeth as healthy as possible! Extremely patient and helpful! I had 4/5ish fillings done at once it was a quick and painless process! They checked in with me to see if I was doing alright every 10 minutes or so! All staff and doctor are extremely kind! HIGHLY RECOMMEND you make them your primary dental care

Dr. Adachi and his team are incredible and so easy to work with ! They took such good care of me, helped me get the smile of my dreams with 6 porcelain veneers. Dr. Adachi is kind, gentle, and patient- I feel so blessed to have worked with him! The hygienists (I worked with several!) were knowledgable, competent, helpful, and so kind. Appointments are easy to schedule, the view from the office is nice (!) and parking is on site. Overall, an incredible experience and I will continue to work with him if we move back to the island.

My Doctor is Dana! She is the best! I went in for the first time about 3-4 weeks ago for a consultation and x-rays. Quick and painless. I went in again to go over the first visit as well as a dental cleaning. I've always had a fear of the dentist because of the pain but Dr. Dana Adachi was quick and made sure I was comfortable the entire time!! Thank you so much for helping me with my smile and the wonderful experience! I will be recommending Kaka`ako Smiles and The Adachi family practice to all my friends, family and co-workers! I have been going to Kaka'ako Smiles if Honolulu since I was 12 years old and actually look forward to my dental appointments! Such a welcoming, caring and warm environment that makes you feel like your apart of the family! When they do service my teeth, they are gentle and always thinking of your comfort! I've been coming to this office for over 10 years now and Dr.Adachi has helped me stay on top of my oral health. The entire office is caring and provides an ohana/family like atmosphere for me. They have worked with me as my dental insurance coverage changed over time, showing me and my partner different financing options. I look forward to continuing with them for the next 10 years.

Dr Dana and staff are absolutely wonderful!! They are so welcoming and go out their way to make you feel comfortable. I haven't been to the dentist in years due to bad experiences.my tooth was hurting , I called up Dr. Adachi's office and they took me in the same day.I let them know i hadn't been to the dentist in awhile and my fears,Dr Dana and staff were very attentive and passionate to my needs.I greatly appreciate all they have done so far and looked forward to my future visits. I 100% recommend to anyone Kakaako smiles ! They're the greatest.

came to this office thinking I had found the right and honest dentist, and after the fact that I spend $1500 for a crown that was not functional neither color matched with the rest of my teeth, it came out while at dinner, embarrassing and uncomfortable, he's a man of few words and will not answer much to your questions, the on site dental tech that makes crowns don't speak much English, rather Japanese, not professional as you will smell the cigaret smoke from his fingers in your mouth while working on crown fitment, again my dental insurance was maxed out $4000 on top of that another $1500 out of pocket, and some of the fillings where purely done and he hopped I would keep coming back to "fix" new cavities, I immediately went to another dentist for 2nd opinion and it proved that I had no cavities, Adachi office is in this nice location with high operation cost and we as patient getting milked to pay for his practice. my recommendation is to get a second opinion from another dentist and don't just assume you fund the "right" dentist!!

Top notch team! My care started with Dr. Adachi and his team last year when I had an emergency during covid of all times. It had been a long time since I had been to the dentist and am still nervous to be honest. On top of that I felt very embarrassed. Everyone from the start was amazing. From my consultation, and my initial conversation with Lea made me feel comfortable. Even the dental hygienists make you feel comfortable! Everything was explained to me thoughtfully, and the calm presence of both Dr. Adachi's ( Gerald and Dana ) make me feel as calm as I can be. Honestly, every time I walk out I ask myself why I did not do this sooner. Im nowhere near perfect or done but its so nice to be able to eat comfortably and have the confidence I've been catching up with my dental needs. Slowly but surely!. Lately, Dr. Dana and her team have been amazing checking on my well being and being available when I have questions or concerns. Amazing! And truly everything has not been as bad as I thought ;). Many Mahalo's to the team at Kakaako Smiles for guiding me through something that in the past has been very difficult for me. PS- Covid protocols are always enforced and consistent

Dr. Adachi and his team, from the front desk to the inside of the entire office are filled with people you can trust, people who can work around your schedule if you're a really busy individual. They really care about your well being and will never not give you options. I have to say my choosing in my first dental hygienist has been the greatest. Thank you Dr. Adachi and crew

Do yourself a favor... Go to Kaka'ako Smiles, and send your entire family, all your friends, and co-workers too! You won't be disappointed. They're friendly, professional, -they're experts. Dr. Adachi and his staff set the standards by which all other dental/medical practices should be measured. Never satisfied with the status-quo, Dr. Adachi constantly seeks out the latest and the best equipment, technology and techniques, all for the greatest benefit to his patients. His staff is top-notch! From his extremely friendly and welcoming "front-desk" personnel to his patient, gentle and highly-informative technicians and dental hygienists, there are none better. Best dentist office I've ever been to! They were super thorough when examining my teeth. I was leaving in a short time and they were able to fit me in for multiple cleanings because my teeth needed it as well as able to fix chips and previous fillings that I've had without breaking my bank. I highly recommend Dr adachi I will definitely be back to visit and to see this amazing dentist office and the friendly staff there.
