Dr. Kahan received her dental training at the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and completed her three year specialty certificate in orthodontics at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center in New York. She is a soon to be working mommy and a board certified orthodontist, a certification achieved only by 5% of all dentists in the U.S.
Dr. Kahan approaches orthodontics with passion, integrity and respect for her patients. She has become recognized in her field and has been described as one of the best and most personable orthodontists in Los Angeles. She was recently voted as a Top Dentist 2018 in Los Angeles.

I help with placing and removing braces and appliances. I also take X-rays, photos, and impressions. We love Dr. Kahan, Ruth and the entire staff at Kahan Orthodontics! Both my daughters are patients and they have had the best experience! My older daughter has special needs with many sensory issues. We never in a million years think that she would be able to have orthodontic treatment but Dr. Kahan and staff have always been so patient and accommodating and really make such an effort to make it as stress free as possible for my daughter. Thank you Dr. Kahan and staff for the beautiful smiles on both of my girls faces!

I am incredibly grateful to have found Kahan Orthodontics! Dr. Kahan and her team, specifically Ruth L., really helped me through a very challenging time in my orthodontic (and personal) life - preparing me for double jaw surgery. They both cared for me and supported me like professionals and like caring friends would--they were really invested in my well-being. I'm writing about the orthodontics and surgery components because they are combined. Also, I know many people are afraid to undergo this process and I want to encourage them to do so! As another note, it is hard to find an orthodontist who is experienced with cases like this, and Dr. Kahan is very much an excellent orthodontist who is well equipped to navigate this. I was referred to Dr. Kahan after making the cross-country move and needed treatment in the spring of 2020 when orthodontists were shut down. Ruth was kind, patient, and attentive to me. She made sure I got an appointment as soon as possible once they could reopen. This was huge in terms of moving my care forward. In order to prepare for jaw surgery, I had two premolars removed and all of my lower teeth had to shift back to make room for the advancement during surgery. Every 4-6 weeks I came to the office to have new power chains put on to help close the gaps. The process of moving the teeth was not particularly painful, however, by doing this, it made my lower jaw smaller, it made my airway smaller, and my bite worse. This made it difficult for me to exercise or eat anything besides soft foods. This, combined with the stress and sadness of the pandemic made for some very dark days. But still, I was always welcomed and encouraged when I came to the office. Ruth never has anything but a smile on her face! I do not say this in any way to discourage others--if anything I want to encourage you. I only wanted to share the details so that people can have the most information possible prior to preparing for jaw surgery. My surgeon (who Dr. Kahan recommended, and I believe helped me get in to see him faster), Dr. Walline, was amazing! I feel grateful for him as well and for the ability that these two doctors had to work together to make my surgery a success. I had surgery on May 20, 2021. My braces came on in September 2021 and then I finished the last little movements in Invisalign. Overall, I was in great hands with Dr. Kahan and I'd recommend her to anyone who needs any orthodontic care - not just a complex case like mine.

By far the best!! This was the best orthodontist I've ever been to in my life. This was my 3rd treatment in my life. Dr Kahan went above and beyond to make sure my smile was top notch. They dismissed me with the end of my treatment. My smile feels so amazing and looks so great. I owe it all to Dr Kahan and her team. I am able to smile and feel so confident. We were recommended to Dr Kahan by my child's dentist and we couldn't have been more happy with their patient care and communication skills. The staff is welcoming and professional. The office is clean and my daughter who is extremely anxious feels comfortable and safe. Highly recommend!

My 15 yr old just finished his final appointment for his Invisalign treatment, and we couldn't be more pleased with our experience! So much so that we now have our 12 year being treated by them! They're very organized, honest and professional. Boy orthodontics have really changed so much since I was a kid! What a different experience for my kids and we're so grateful!
