Since 1997, Sam Kadan, D.M.D., has been creating beautiful smiles for children, teenagers and adults. Dr. Kadan is a board-certified orthodontist who graduated Magna Cum Laude from the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He was recognized for his excellence in orthodontic care when he received the PASS International Dentist Award.
Dr. Kadan completed his specialty training in orthodontics at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center and received his second award the North Eastern Society of Orthodontists Research Award.
Dr. Kadan has a clinical associate faculty position at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Department of Orthodontics. The position keeps him informed of the latest advances in orthodontic research and techniques and allows him to contribute to the education and training of the countrys future orthodontists. Dr. Kadan has shared his knowledge and experience by publishing peer-reviewed scientific papers and presenting at local and national orthodontic conferences.
Dr. Kadan understands the value of family. He and his wife, Adele, have twin girls and a son. Dr. Kadan sponsors several baseball and soccer teams in the community. He spends time with his family skiing, traveling and watching movies. He also enjoys reading and listening to classical music.
She moved to Philadelphia to attend dental school at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree, and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society upon graduation. Dr. Kasten was then accepted into Penns orthodontic residency program where she completed her specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. While at Penn, she also earned a Masters degree for her research in the Craniofacial Research Laboratory at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia.

The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievementa significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems. Board certification is a voluntary achievement that all orthodontists do not choose to pursue. In order to become board certified by the ABO, an individual orthodontist is thoroughly interviewed by a highly respected panel of examiners to demonstrate their orthodontic knowledge, clinical skills and judgment.

The ABO was founded in 1929 and is the oldest specialty board in dentistry. Since the establishment of the ABO in 1929, the certification process requirements have continued to adjust to the demands of the specialty. Today, the process involves a thorough Written Examination (240 questions) covering all areas of information which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful completion of this board exam allows the orthodontist to proceed to the Clinical Examination where they present detailed case reports from their practice/residency, demonstrating a history of excellence in patient care. These cases are evaluated by a panel of examiners and later discussed during an oral examination where the applicant is tested on a wide variety of academic and clinical topics. After successful completion of these examinations, the orthodontist has officially achieved Board Certification, for a time-limited period. The orthodontist must go through Certification Renewal every 10 years to maintain their certification status by demonstrating this continued level of patient care.

As a family, they run a non-profit organization called Love4Liam raising funds for Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia.
