Dr. Janice always wanted to work in the healthcare field, helping others. She found dentistry fascinating because it allowed her to see amazing results quickly. After performing fillings, crowns, and extractions, and seeing a confident smile, she feels fulfilled. Her passion is to create healthy, beautiful smiles that will last a lifetime.
After receiving her bachelors degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Dr. Janice went on to earn her DMD from The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. After graduating from dental school, she served as a US Army Captain and active duty dentist at Fort Bliss (El Paso, Texas) for four years.
When shes not working, Dr. Janice enjoys spending time with her husband, young daughter, and her little Maltipoo. They especially enjoy exploring the Austin area. Dr. Janices hobbies include staying fit with indoor cycling and pilates, canoeing, visiting parks, and exploring museums.

Dr. Peter received a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Peter attends to numerous continuing education courses to stay up to date with the latest techniques and technology in the dental profession. As a general dentist, Dr. Peter enjoys all areas of comprehensive dentistry as simple as extractions to more complicated full mouth reconstruction.

You've heard of dental fillings and crowns, but have you heard of inlays and onlays? In the past, dental crowns were always the go-to solution for restoring teeth too damaged to be repaired with fillings. But today, there are intermediary options: Inlays and Onlays.
Inlays and onlays (also known as indirect fillings) are strong, durable tooth restorations that are custom made to repair a tooth, and are great options for restoring teeth with medium to large cavities. Large fillings will actually weaken a tooths structure, which greatly increases the risk of the tooth breaking, cracking, and eventually requiring further and more complicated treatment like root canal therapy. And though dental crowns are strong and durable, they always require a significant amount of tooth structure removal in order to fit the crown over the existing tooth, even if a lot of healthy tooth structure exists.
Inlays fill the space in between a tooths cusps (the raised portions on the biting surfaces of teeth) and are used to repair teeth that have decay or damage between the cusps. If damage is too widespread or deep for a simple filling but does not affect the cusps, an inlay may be recommended.
Onlays spread over a tooths cusps and lay on the top of the tooth, molded to restore the shape and structure of the tooth. If patients have a chipped, broken, or decayed area of a tooth that includes one or more cusps, an onlay may be recommended.
During the first visit, your dentist will prepare your damaged tooth, take an impression, and place a temporary filling to protect the treated tooth. The dental impression will be sent to a dental lab to create the indirect filling, which is usually made from shade-matched porcelain.
While inlays and onlays tend to cost slightly more than traditional fillings, they are a great value due to their longevity, strength, stain resistance, and natural appearance. Patients who practice good oral hygiene (flossing and brushing daily) usually see their indirect filling last 10-20 years or longer.
If you have a damaged or decayed tooth and seek to be conservative in your dental care meaning that you prefer solutions that preserve the maximum amount of natural tooth structure while maintaining the form and function of your bite - inlays and onlays could be the perfect choice for you.

A close friend from our church one day highly recommended K Family Dentistry while I had not seen any dentist for almost three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I saw Dr. Peter Kim, whom I found very competent and trustable as our friend recommended. One of the rather involved works he performed during a few months of my visit was treating one of my abutment teeth infected but holding the dental bridge that is almost 60 years old, and that I consider as precious as my natural teeth. Dr. Kim successfully performed an SRP and put me on medication that saved the infected abutment tooth and, as a result, the whole bridge. My thanks to Dr. Peter Kim!

K Family Dentistry has been amazing. I was nervous about seeing the dentist this year because I knew I needed some major work done, but the K Fam. staff and Dr. Janice really made me feel at ease throughout the whole procedure. The staff was very organized and provided appointment reminders along the way. The quote they provided on my treatment plan was very accurate and if anything needed to be adjusted they provided an explanation right away. Dr. Janice is very personable, she explained the procedure and what to expect, she made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure, and she was as gentle as she could possibly be. My experience went so well that I referred my adult daughter to the K Fam. as well as my ex-husband (he's paying Way too much at his dentist) and I've started taking my 11-year-old son to the K Fam. I highly recommend K Family Dentistry!

I have been going to K Family dentistry for 2 years and will no longer be going. It's a staff that means well and is kind... At least most of the time. But too many mistakes and compromises to make it worth me staying with them. They have had to redo the same filling 3 times simply because when I come back for a cleaning they decide it wasn't done right last time. They have tried to reschedule cleanings multiple times simply out of there convince. But this time they rescheduled it without my consent and tried to play it off as normal. I have had this appointment scheduled for 6 months super unprofessional and rude to try and reschedule 4 days before simply because your higenist decided they wanted an extra day off. It would of been one thing if they had been sick but that's not what this was. Also the woman who was trying to reschedule me just didn't care about my complaint and wanted tme to get off the phone asap. Super rude.

I have an excellent experience with K Family Dentistry. All the staffs are very professional and nice. Love the office atmosphere is so clean from types of equipment to furniture and feel like at home. I have visited a few dentist's places before K-Family dentist. This place has a great Dentist X-ray Technician. She is a pro! Sorry, I forgot her name. She took amazing X-rays! I didn't feel any pain in my mouth after done and fast service too. Also, I have excellent experience cleaning my teeth with a dental hygienist there. Sam is so amazing! In the final step, I met with Dr. Janice went over my X-rays and advised what need to have my teeth done first. I think the prices are very reasonable and affordable compared with other dentist places I went. I don't have insurance so this dentist I think I can afford to have my teeth get done here. Furthermore, I will definitely schedule appt. for my next procedure with Dr. Janice. Last visited office there was on 9/27/2022.

I'v been to the K-Family dental clinic for the first time in America. It was convenient to make a reservation because there was desk staff who could speak Korean. The nurse and doctor were so kind and explained in detail. My six-year-old daughter wanted to go again.
