Justina Pham (maiden name Sullivan) was born at Cottage Hospital, and grew up in Goleta. She went to El Camino and La Patera Elementary Schools, then to Goleta Valley Junior High and Dos Pueblos High like her parents. During high school she had orthodontic treatment, and was fascinated by the process. By the end of her treatment, she had decided that she wanted to go into dentistry. While attending Pomona College she explored other career options but always returned to dentistry.
After getting her bachelors degree in chemistry, she began dental school at the University of California, San Francisco, in the fall of 1997. She graduated in 2001 and practiced in the Bay Area before moving back to Santa Barbara in 2007 to date one of her best friends from high school, Binh Pham. He earned his bachelors degree in mathematics and masters degree in statistics, both from UCSB. He spent almost eight years teaching math and coaching tennis at Bishop Garcia Diego High School, and currently teaches math and statistics at UCSB. The two married in December of 2008, and have two sons, Dax and Ty.
In 2013, Dr. Pham joined the practice of Dr. Paul Avolese, a highly respected restorative and cosmetic dentist with a 17 year history in Santa Barbara.She is honored tocarry onthe tradition of clinical excellence for current and future patients. Dr. Pham is a lifelong learner, never satisfied that she has learned enough, and her goal in practice is to have a great time with people and do beautiful work. Her friendly andcomforting manner put patients at ease. They often remark that they truly enjoyed their visit, and look forward to returning. How often do you hear that about a dental visit?
Shannon is married and loves being a mom to her two rapidly growing girls. She plays volleyball and tennis and watches a lot of her daughters soccer matches and volleyball games! She has been a dental hygienist for over 20 years, in this office since 2004, and still loves what she does! On this Journey called life she continually learns that life is best lived one day at a time with our eyes focused on Jesus and the people he puts in our lives. We are grateful for Shannons long-standing support of our patients and her teammates!
Annie enjoys helping people reach their goals and loves her work as a Registered Dental Hygienist! With over 10 years of experience and a passion for healthcare, she prides herself on providing personalized care for each of our patients. When shes not at the office she enjoys reading, hiking and camping with her husband and their dog, Sasha. Annie is a wonderful addition to the team!
Laurie is a fourth-generation Santa Barbara native, and proud alumna of Santa Barbara High School. She is married and is a busy mom to her adorably precocious fraternal twins. Laurie has been a Registered Dental Assistant for over 35 years, and also comes with dental laboratory experience. She has many interests and hobbies including music, classic cars, reading, cooking, and baking, crafting, all things Disney, and spending lots of quality time with her family. We are blessed to have her on our team!
Maya is a senior at UC Santa Barbara and is working towards a degree in Biological Sciences. She hopes to work in healthcare post graduation and is loving the opportunity to learn from Dr. Pham. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, reading, and dancing.
Caleb is a San Diego native, but since graduating from Westmont College (Class of 2021) has made Santa Barbara his home. As an aspiring future dentist, Caleb absolutely loves being a part of the Pham Dental Familyalways learning so many applicable skills within a welcoming and friendly environment! Calebs interests include most outdoor activities; the favorites being time spent at the beach surfing and playing spikeball, as well as hiking in the beautiful SB outdoors!

Dr. Pham gives the most thorough gum and teeth exam ever. She puts you at ease and explains every procedure that she performs. She works with each patient in a personal, professional way to arrive at a mutually agreeable treatment plan! Her dental hygienists and office staff are all highly professional and most welcoming! Thank you Dr. Pham. You and your staff are the best!

This practice is top notch. They don't miss a thing when it comes to your dental needs. They have the highest standard of dental practices I've come across, from office cleanliness and presentation to how they care for their patients. They are the nicest people I've ever met in a dentist office!! They make every experience wonderful. I have been grinding my teeth since I was 5 and have major jaw/bite issues and Justina Pham specializes in TMJ and other related conditions and I felt very confident that I chose the right Dr to help me on my road to recovery! Thanks for all your help and knowledge. I will be recommending to everyone and bringing my kids and family in for all of our dental hygiene needs.

Let me start by saying I have been going to Dr Pham for years and have never had anything but a great experience as it relates to dental procedures, advice, professionalism, etc. This review is more contemporaneous as I focus on COVID-19. I be a hypochondriac. I dread appointments these days and avoid them whenever possible. I was admittedly nervous about my first covid-19 era dentist visit. In working myself up about this appointment I was considering the "Cast Away" solution with the ice skate to avoid having someone stick their hands in my open mouth. This concern for my well being and peace of mind has led me to greatly, deeply and personally appreciate others efforts to make me feel safe when forced indoors with people I don't normally interact with. And this is where Dr Pham and Annie, the hygienist, truly shined. There were air filters running, health checks, double masks on faces, face shields, hand sanitizer, different entrances and exits, and so on. While I'm sure the most concerned might be able to find something I overlooked, I couldn't have been happier with my experience. I felt more relaxed in their office than I have in any other semi-public space I have been in over these last 900 years. Or 9 months, whatever it's been. I'm truly grateful for their thoughtfulness. And of course their excellent dental care. I would (and have) drive 1200 miles for an appointment with Dr Pham and her great staff. Thanks so much for all of your extra effort- I truly appreciate it.

Dr. Pham does an excellent job with all the procedures she does. She's a perfectionist in the very best sense of the word! Warm and friendly, she and her office staff are a pleasure to work with. She is creative about options I have given my financial situation. I have recommended her to friends who also appreciated her abilities and skills. I can't recommend her highly enough. I've been her patient since she started her practice here.
