This mantra allowed her to develop Just Kidz Dentistry over 18 years ago in Peoria, Illinois. She believes in gentle, compassionate dental care. She also believes that going to the dentist can be an enjoyable experience for children.
Dr. Spates completed dental school at the Medical College of Virginia, where she discovered her passion for treating kids. She later completed her pediatric dental residency at the Childrens Memorial Hospital in Chicago, where she served as Chief Resident. She also spent an additional year as a fellow training future pediatric dentists and completing her research in the Hematology division. Dr. Spates is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Illinois Society of Pediatric Dentists and the American Dental Association.
A pediatric dentist is a dentist who has completed a graduate program accredited by CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation) in the specialty of pediatric dentistry. A dentist who graduates from a specialty program becomes a pediatric dentist and is eligible to become board certified through the voluntary examination process of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD). Involvement in the certification process is a demonstration of the pediatric dentists pursuit of continued proficiency and excellence.

We had a great experience for the 1st time visiting. My son has Autism and the staff was very supportive and worked with him well to get his X-rays and teeth clean. He loved the quiet environment and lobby set up. We look forward to upcoming appointments. Great dentist!! My son even received a goody bag. Highly recommend this dentist!! I am relieved now that he has a nice dentist and great affordable prices.

I've been taking my children here for the last few years and have always had great experiences. My 3 year old was so nervous about going, but they knew exactly how to explain things, took the time to show him each step, and made it fun instead of scary. Would never take my kids anywhere else!

Excellent choice for kids to go to have their teeth cleaned. The environment is wonderful and kid friendly along with the staff. We go the the Peoria office and we just LOVE IT!

Every time we come to Just Kidz my daughter is treated like the royalty she thinks she is. They go above and beyond to make sure she understood what to expect, how it would feel and why they needed to do it. I love that they included my young daughter in her care plan instead of talking over her to me to tell me what's going on. The doctor is very fast and thorough the staff are always kind and laughing with my girl and cheering her and cheering her bravery on! Thank you for always making a scary thing easier for my girl!

The environment is very kid-friendly and relaxed! Both of my kids had their 1st dental appts here (years apart) and it went great! In fact, my daughter didn't want to leave! Plus, when my daughter's dental coverage was (unknowingly) cancelled through her father's employer, they were super nice, helpful, and understanding in letting me make payments!
