After undergrad, Heidi attended dental school at the University of Iowa in Iowa City where she met her husband Jesse, who is now a general dentist here in Anchorage. During dental school, Heidi decided to specialize in pediatrics and was accepted into the Lutheran Medical Pediatric Dental Residency Program at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. She and Jesse are outdoor enthusiasts and wanted an adventure, so immediately following their wedding and graduation they did the big drive along the Alcan Highway and moved to Alaska. It was supposed to be a two-year adventure while completing the pediatric residency program, but Heidi and Jesse fell in love with Alaska and the community and they decided to stay. They couldn't imagine giving up all the backcountry skiing, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, fat tire biking, and camping that Alaska has to offer!
After completing her two year pediatric dental residency at ANMC and becoming Board Certified , Heidi joined the family at Just Kids in 2013 and she found her second home! Heidi is excited about carrying on the traditions Christine has started, and looks forward to nurturing and growing the Just Kids family for years to come. She is an active member of the All Alaska Pediatric Partnership and Alaska Dental Action Coalition, is on the Medicaid dental advisory committee, and is a board member for Anchorage Project Access.
Jennifer came back to Kentucky and received her dental degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She participated in numerous community service events from rural Appalachia to Red Bank, Belize. During these experiences Jennifer realized the most rewarding part of dentistry for her was working and teaching kids about their oral health. After graduation in 2010, Jennifer worked in public health dentistry for the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska. Jennifer then worked intermittently at the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) and private practice in Anchorage, Alaska while her husband finished oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in Detroit, Michigan.
In 2017 Jennifer started her pediatric dental residency at ANMC with one son, Taj and will finish with a son and daughter, Opal. When Jennifer is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, riding horses and taking advantage of Alaskas outdoor playground.
They are great with the kids. They enjoy going there. The people there are nice, easy to talk to. They explain everything in detail. I would recommend them. Every child should comfortable and relaxed, not have anxiety.
I cant say enough about how amazing this office is. My children get nothing but the best from Dr. Ostby and her team. This is by far the best pediatric dental office in Anchorage. After a very traumatic dental experience with another office Dr. Ostby has turned a very afraid little girl into a more relaxed little girl at the dental office and I cant thank her enough for that.
Dr. Otsby is Amazing. Very happy to have my children go here. The front staff are always friendly. We never have a long wait to be seen. My daughter was terrified of going and Dr. Otsby made my daughter very comfortable to get all her work done easily.
