Dr. Deborah Joyner, or Dr. Deb as shes known to her patients, grew up in the Marion / Cedar Rapids area and followed in her fathers footsteps to become one of the best local dentists. Shes passionate about her work and loves combining the latest technology with genuine care to help patients improve their smiles.

After graduating and working for a husband and wife dental team, she rented space at her dads dental practice before opening her own practice in 2000. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Joyner believes in doing dentistry differently where youre in charge of your health, and shes your partner for a beautiful, healthy smile!

She loves creating long-term relationships with her patients and helping them maintain their teeth and gums for a lifetime. In her free time, Dr. Joyner enjoys spending time with her kids, cooking for the family, being outdoors, and watching volleyball.

Dr. Deb Joyner and her professional staff have always provided my family and me with the highest quality dental care. They are very efficient, compassionate people who will go out of their way to see that you are comfortable. I can't say enough good things about Joyner Dental Arts and would never go anywhere else. Thanks, Dr. Deb, for making us smile!

Pam brings a wealth of dental practice experience and dental insurance knowledge to our practice. She is here to help our patients with their scheduling needs, treatment planning and understanding the best financing options for them.

She graduated from Hawkeye Community College in the dental assisting program and has been in dentistry since she was age 19! She has maintained her National Certification in Dental Assisting and the Iowa Registered Dental Assistant license her entire career.

Pam and her husband, Gary, live in Tiffin, IA and are busy grandparents of 7 grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys riding their Harley Trike, gardening and all things creative. Pam is a quilter and has made over 50 quilts. She also makes pillowcases for children in the hospital and is hospice volunteer at the Bird House in Iowa City.

When considering a career, Eileen thought about nursing or teaching but chose the dentistry field because it combines elements of both. The best part of her job is assisting patients with preventing and treating oral disease to improve their overall health.

Outside of the office, Eileen enjoys spending time with her family, baking, sewing, gardening, listening to vinyl records, and tending to her backyard chickens. Her favorite quote is, 'We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.'

Michelle is originally from Marion, Iowa, and graduated from the Kirkwood Dental Assisting program in 1996. She's passionate about getting to know her patients and helping them reach optimal dental health.

When meeting each patient, Michelle can empathize with their needs and, along with Dr. Joyner, teaches them about the best treatment options. In addition, she and the entire team are committed to learning new techniques that improve patient care for faster, more effective, and more comfortable dental procedures.

I've been coming for several years and always have as good of an experience as possible. I was one who avoided the dentist for a long time and the team has helped get my teeth and gums into a much healthier spot. Good knowledge and very calm.

LANAP (Laser Assisted NEW Attachment Procedure) is the only scientifically researched and proven dental laser treatment that promotes new bone growth as well as gum tissue reattachment. Its FDA-approved and offers more success and less pain than traditional surgical treatments.

The LANAP procedure targets the source of gum disease and inflammation without harming or removing healthy gum tissue. This means less downtime and recovery for patients. If you have periodontal problems, then turn to one of Eastern Iowas leading dental offices for a safe and effective treatment.

I would recommend Joyner Dental Arts to everybody! The staff is always very nice and they care a lot about the comfort of their patients. I hate going to the dentist, but Dr. Deb and her staff make it a much more tolerable thing for me to do!

  • What to do if you knock out a tooth You may save your tooth if you act fast: Find the tooth and pick it up by the crown, not the root Rinse the tooth with water, no soap or scrubbing Place the tooth back in the socket, then bite down on gauze to keep the tooth in place If you cant do that, place the tooth in a container of milk or your saliva Dont forget to remain calm. Our friendly team is here for you.
  • What to do if you have a toothache or swelling If your toothache or swelling is severe or persists after two days, call us. Its a sign something is wrong, even if it eventually goes away. In the meantime, to ease tooth pain and reduce swelling, try these home remedies: Rinse with a warm saltwater mixture ( teaspoon salt and 8oz water) Apply an ice pack or cold compress, no heat Gently floss the area if something is stuck Take over-the-counter pain relievers Eat soft food Take the same steps for an abscessed tooth. However, call us right away. If left untreated, this infection can spread to other areas of your body and potentially put your life at risk.
  • What to do if you chip or break a tooth Steps to take: Grab the broken piece(s) and wrap it in wet gauze Rinse your mouth with water Apply an ice pack or cold compress to reduce swelling Apply pressure with clean gauze to stop bleeding Call us and bring the fragment(s) with you Depending on the severity of the chip or break, it may or may not be an emergency. Call us to confirm the urgency.
  • Best experience with a dentist that Ive had by far. Called with a broken tooth and the absolute worse pain in my life. Set me up for 9 am the next day. Called me an hour later and got me in immediately today. Was in and out, feeling the best Ive felt in 5 days. Will definitely make a return trip.

  • What emergency services do you offer? We provide: Root canals Extractions Same-day crowns Dental bonding Metal-free fillings Toothache or gum relief Filling, crown, bridge, or denture repair And more! During your emergency dental exam, Dr. Joyner will present you with all your options so that you can make the best decision for yourself.
  • Can you go to ER for a dental emergency? Yes, but we advise against it because most emergency rooms, urgent care facilities, and hospitals dont have dentists on staff. This means theyre likely only able to provide antibiotics or pain medication to ease your symptoms, not treat the actual problem. Therefore, youll still need to see a dentist. So to avoid additional bills and potentially putting your tooth or oral health at risk, we recommend contacting us first. However, if your dental emergency is life-threatening, call 911.

Absolutely amazing! My SO has severe anxiety with the dentist...let me tell you. They ease every thing along seamlessly so that you barely realize it's a dental visit. Quick/painless and reasonably priced for the outstanding care you receive. I look forward to hopefully transferring to here myself!

Very friendly and professional. Procedure(cavities/fillings) was as pleasant as could be and so was the staff. During the procedure they made sure to ask if I was doing ok several times. They answered all of the questions I had. I was allowed to use two different methods of payment which was very convenient.

I have extreme anxiety at the dentist. Like heartrate was at 126 extreme!...when i tell you this is the best dentist i have ever seen-- i mean the absolute BEST. The care, the compassion the empathy. I had an infected wisdom tooth i was dealing with for a month bc i didnt want to go in. They removed it carefully and she even reached out to me personally that night to check on me. The passion that is in this place resonates with the care they give...she is the only person i will ever trust with my pearly whites. Go see her you will not be disappointed!

I would recommend Joyner Dental Arts to all my friends and family. I had broke a tooth and went here for first time I was highly impressed with their professionalism and amazing staff. I ended up getting my first crown and it was obvious that Dr. Joyner was experienced and showed a genuine interest. The process was virtually pain free. I was 100% satisfied and will definitely go back!!

Dr. Joyner is a very caring professional who knows her trade at a very high level. Recently I was traveling from the east coast to the west coast and broke a tooth. I contacted her after hours because of the level of urgency. She said she would fit me in the next morning. Her work was accurate and outstanding as she crafted a needed crown that morning for me. I highly recommend this excellent dentist.
