Joshua R. Opperman, DMD, is a family dentist serving patients in the Hollywood District of Northeast Portland. He is honored to be the dentist of choice for many families and enjoys getting to know his patients as they grow and thrive.
Education has always played a central role in Dr. Oppermans life. A Portland native, he chose to remain in the area to complete his dental training at OHSU School of Dentistry. Now in practice for more than a decade, Dr. Opperman continues to pursue additional educational opportunities to stay abreast of the latest developments in dentistry technology and techniques.
Patient education is also a passion of Dr. Oppermans. He views his role as a partner in the dental health of each patient and is committed to educating those in his care on how to best maintain a healthy smile. Whether thats giving advice on the best foods to support healthy teeth, the importance of proper oral hygiene, or simply helping kids brush up on their brushing techniques, Dr. Opperman always takes the time to educate and empower his patients.
Personalized care is a cornerstone of Dr. Oppermans practice. No two people share the exact same set of dental needs. Thats why he approaches each patient as a distinct individual with needs and treatment goals that shift over time. When hes not working with patients youll find Dr. Opperman spending time with his wife and son. The family stays active, getting out and enjoying the things that make Portland such an amazing place to live. Running, biking, music, snowboarding, and coaching his sons soccer team are just some of the things that bring balance and fulfillment to Dr. Oppermans life.

I have been attending this clinic for the majority of my life. The staff are kind and professional, but I can't agree with or feel comfortable with their decision to bring a dog into the office. They say it was to help calm patients, giving zero recognition of the countless people afraid of dogs. I wouldn't be so bothered if the dog were trained and well behaved, but having a dog jump on me, lick me, and be on the furniture is very offputting. If that weren't enough, the last time I was in another employee decided to bring their dog in too. This is a dental office, not a doggy day care. I'm feeling disappointed over something that has nothing to do with my dental care.

Doctor Opperman and his staff are excellent . All are friendly and knowledgeable . I had a great first visit and am looking forward to my return for my next dental peocedure :)

Great appointment the other day, eventhough it was for a filling. Early morning appointments are the best, and the filling was over all pain free. See you in 6mths

They're the real deal. Everyone from the front desk to the hygienists to the finance dept. to Dr. Opperman are terrific. Friendly, knowledgeable, talented and helpful. So glad to have them as my new dental practice!

As someone who is kind of scared of dental work, I really appreciate the calmness of this office and the excellent care I receive. It is a bonus that Dr. Opperman is good at giving shots! I was also impressed by the COVID safety precautions, although I miss the office dog sitting on my lap (did wonders to take my mind off the drilling.)
