Dr. Melissa Scaggs received her undergraduate degree in Zoology from Texas Tech University in 1996. She continued her education with The University of Texas at San Antonio where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2000 and graduated Cum Laude. But she didnt stop there! Dr. Scaggs pursued her Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry and graduated in 2001.
Dr. Penchan was born in Dearborn, MI, and grew up in Coppell, TX. She moved to Texas when her dad had a change in job, and stayed south as she started college. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Chemistry in 2006, then received her doctorate degree in 2012 from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. Dr. Penchan is a member of the Dallas County Dental Society, American Dental Association, and Texas Dental Association.
As one of the leading dentists at Josey Lane Dentistry, Dr. Penchan specializes in relieving patients pain by performing expert root canals and tooth extractions. Her work is exceptionally detailed, and she enjoys the opportunity to focus on her specialties. Outside of the office, Dr. Penchan loves hand stitching and rocking her baby to sleep. Dr. Penchan can be found moseying around White Rock Lake in what free time she can find.

I searched long and hard for a dentist I could be confident in. Did lots of cross referencing and checking on reviews over several different sites. You can believe the reviews you see like this one. They've been very communicative throughout my whole process, of which I'm still in the middle of (oral surgery).They make sure we are on the same page every step of the way, all the staff, all the way through. I've been ripped off before without insurance and that isn't happening here. My insurance doesn't kick in for another month and yet their pricing has been VERY fair for the work they're doing on me. There's still work to be done and my confidence is very high with this office. I feel extremely lucky and it's only 5 minutes from my house. It's wild to see a place with this many glowing reviews but once you go you understand why

They are always on time and thorough and do their job in a timely manner. They gave me some very good information about an oral problem and some info for treating it, which was very helpful. I have also been going to this clinic for over 30 years and they are like family.

Thanks to the professionalism, warmth, and talent and expertise of Dr. Penchan and Dr. Scaggs, we had a fabulous experience with dental work. Getting dental work done is very hard for me as I do not look forward to It. For the first time in my 75 years I go to the dentist without dreading it. Everyone I've encountered here is so friendly - from the front desk to the hygienists. I went in for a routine cleaning and ended up having a cavity. Dr. Penchan offered to do my filling while I was there so I didn't have to schedule another day to come back. I appreciate how accommodating that was to fit me in for an extra procedure as I'm sure they already had a full schedule. Thank you, Josey Lane!

I love my dentist(s)!!! I've been coming to Drs. Scaggs and Penchan for well over a decade. I started with the practice when we moved to Carrollton because they were nearby. But when they moved a few miles down the road, there was no way I was leaving them!!! Aside from great dentistry, everyone in the office is friendly, and they treat you like family. I highly recommend!!

Josey Lane Dentistry is the best!! I have been a patient from the beginning and would not go anywhere else. Every employee is personable and genuinely cares about their patients. The dentists are extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer all questions. They offer many services but don't try to oversell and their pricing is reasonable. Give them a try, you will be glad that you did.

My teeth received a thorough cleaning while I was made to feel comfortable and understood when I discussed concerns. The hygienist was very kind and pleasant. Dr. Skaggs discovered an area that needed a new crown and the procedure was discussed with the cost then carefully laid out by the financial person. I love Dr. Skaggs: she is direct but very friendly. I appreciated the whole experience and I left feeling better about my dental health.

Exceptionally pleased. Been going to them for many, many years. Reliable and trustworthy. Expert care. Very responsive. Lost a crown one day, they saw me the next day. Very friendly staff. All are extremely knowledgeable and answer any and all questions. Had multiple crowns. Also replaced all old style amalgam fillings. State of the art wrap around x-rays, patient room x-rays and visual info on computer screens
