Dr. Joseph Spina has been practicing and teaching dentistry since 2002. At his practice in Wayne, Pennsylvania, Dr. Spina has become known for providing an extremely high level of general, implant, and cosmetic care while teaching the next generation of exceptional dentists at the University of Pennsylvania and Abington Memorial Hospital.
He began his education at Villanova University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. From there, Dr. Spina attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine as a Deans Scholar where he graduated in 2002 in the top 5% of his class. After completing his residency training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (JSMC), Dr. Spina continued to study advanced prosthetic and implant dentistry.
In 2013, Dr. Spina completed his implant surgical and prosthetic dentistry training at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Spina is one of the few dentists who is trained in both the surgical and prosthetic phases of implant therapy. Because of the amount of education, research, and procedures Dr. Spina has completed, he was awarded a Fellowship in the ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantologists). Fellowships are awarded nationally to very few dentists and this distinction sets Dr. Spina apart as one of the countries premier implant dentists.
Currently, Dr. Spina continues to study dentistry at the Spear Center for Dental Education in Scottsdale, Arizona, The Dawson Academy for Advanced Dentistry in St. Pettersburg Fl., and at the Columbia University Implant Study Group at Columbia University in New York City.
Dr. Spina has received the Quintessence award in Periodontics, University of Pennsylvania Achievement Award in Pharmacology and Therapeutics, as well as been named to the Matthew Cryer Society and the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Society. Dr. Spina has also been named to Main Line Magazines List of Top Dentists several times, most recently in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
Im very excited to share that myself and my entire team have been vaccinated for COVID-19. Over the last week, we all rolled up our sleeves and got the shot! By the end of the month, we will all have the 2nd shot and be fully vaccinated.

Dr. Spina did a great job on a more complicated tooth. I had a back tooth that had an issue as a kid. Resulted in a cap in my 20's. The cap recently came off. I was sent to the nice root canal doctor. Dr. Spina built my original tooth back up for a better fit. Dr. Spina has a kind and relaxed atmosphere and his work is impeccable. He is the second main line dentist I tried after my dentist growing up retired. I have been a patient for about 5 years.

Dr. Spina and his staff are outstanding! Dr. Spina's unique combination of experience and skill make his practice the best on the mainline. It also helps that he and his team are extremely genuine and never rush a patient to get to someone else. I actually look forward to going. It's always a great experience. Highly recommend!!

Highly recommend Dr. Spina & his team! The office is well kept & organized, Dr. Spina & his staff are very personable, and he does exceptional work. I moved out of the state for several years and recently moved back, and I was thrilled to be able to return to his practice. I have recommended Dr. Spina to several others because he truly is top notch and the practice provides great service.

I wanted to start by saying I have an intense phobia of needles, dentists and doctors. I was given a referral to Dr Spina from a friend. I made an appointment and reluctantly went. Well, I am so happy I went. I had been putting off needed work because of my fear. Dr Spina not only calmed me down immensely but actually had me laughing in his chair!! He is an amazing Dentist with a fantastic sense of humor. I never thought in my wildest dreams I would actually be laughing while there. He does fantastic work and I'm thrilled I found him. 5 out of 5 from me. I highly recommend him. I would not like to forget the rest of his team: The hygienists, assistants and front desk are all lovely. You will have more than a pleasant experience no matter the procedure.

I decided to go to Dr. Spina after starting a new job close to his office and reading his solid reviews. I had to wait about a month and a half for an appointment due to COVID-19 closures and availability (understandable). I confirmed my appointment with his office. Because I'm still working remotely, it was about a 30 minute drive each way to his office. I arrived for my appointment and was told they forgot to put me on the schedule and couldn't see me. They then offered me a Starbucks gift card. Seriously? Now I'm back to square one looking for a new dentist. What a waste of time.

I rarely leave reviews but you can tell Dr.Spina and his staff care about their patients and their health. Despite my fear of dentists, I'm never uneasy when I go into my appointments, regardless of what I'm getting done!

I have had nothing but great experiences with Dr. Spina! I am very self-conscious about my teeth after a fall 10+ years ago broke the front two and had pretty obvious bondings to fix them. I have been looking for a better solution, and had a lot of trouble finding a dentist that I could trust, would do good work, and wouldn't try to sell my on procedures I didn't need. Dr. Spina was recommended to me by a colleague (whose teeth are amazing as well), and I could not be happier. I'm very type A - pretty much a perfectionist - and I could tell that Dr. Spina put the care and detail into fixing my teeth that he would have his own. They are very natural looking & just beautiful. Throughout the process his team was clear and forthcoming about what my insurance would cover & what it would not - and there were never any surprises price wise. Because of this great experience, I now use Dr. Spina and his team for my regular check-up & dental needs. Whether you are looking for cosmetic dentistry - or just need your cleaning twice a year - I recommend Dr. Spina & his team 100%!

Nobody WANTS to go to the Dentist, but if you've gotta go, you gotta go. That being said, Joseph Spina is the best dentist I've ever dealt with. He and his staff are all friendly and polite, and his work is top notch. Two thumbs, way up.

I was always conscious of my smile before I came to Dr. Spina. Once he fixed my entire top row of teeth, I've been able to smile more than I ever did in my life. It certainly brought me more confidence than I ever thought. His staff is one of the most knowledgeable and friendly I've ever experienced. Feels like family every time I go. Thank you all

Have been a patient of Dr. Spina for about 12 years and have had multiple procedures performed with never a problem. He is professional and caring and has an equally great staff! Thank you Dr. Spina and staff! I look forward to being your patient for a long time!

After reading the reviews, I decided to try Dr. Spina. Needless to say, I've never had a dentist say to me what he said- that he couldn't help me and his reason. I assure you at the end of the day if he isn't going to make money off of you, he isn't going to invest any time. Due to years of dentist, dental issues and bad experiences, I didn't want to put myself through any more trauma by attempting implants which would also involve sinus suspension, time, money. Isn't a great dentist someone who cares enough to help a patient retain what teeth they do have to save them, and to build from that to make them feel good about themselves. Shame on him - knowing I wasn't interested in implants, in my opion, turned him right off. Due to my first encounter, I would not refer him to anyone.
