Over the next eight years he practiced dentistry on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. During that time he trained in homeopathy, completely abandoned the use of amalgam (mercury) fillings, and expanded his knowledge in the biological aspects of therapy.

I am an international patient and went to LA to remedy my cleft lip and cleft palate. Before starting my treatment plan, I had to get my teeth cleaned and went to Dr. Sarkissian, as it was recommended to me. My experience with Dr. Sarkissian became my WORST NIGHTMARE. Here are the reasons why I DO NOT recommend Dr. Sarkissan! The following reasons are my personal opinion. Dr. Sarkissian is: 1) UNSKILLED - While cleaning my teeth, Dr. Sarkissian cut my bottom lip. Afterwards, he suggested I add ceramic filling to a couple of my teeth. I did it, but the teeth started to feel extremely uncomfortable, alternatively hot and cold. Later on, he suggested I remove a residual piece of bone from a previous tooth removal. I was very hesitant, but he told me the procedure was necessary, to be smooth and painless. He was very forceful. After the surgery, he sent me home without any prescription drug to alleviate my pain or prevent possible infection. Guess what? I got an infection. Not until months later was I also diagnosed with a gum disease! 2) UNRELIABLE - The day after the surgery (during the weekend), my nose and mouth started to bleed profusely and hurt so much that I had to go to the emergency room. The hospital reached out to Dr. Sarkissian who told them not to do anything, so the hospital decided to send me home. I had to get better and went to another hospital for treatment. The staff confirmed I had an infection and finally prescribed me some medications to relieve my pain and antibiotics for the infection. The staff also called Dr. Sarkissian who said he would be available to see me on Monday, but he never reached out to me. All he did was to remove the stitches 2 weeks later! 3) UNTRUSWORTHY - Before the surgery, I asked him to keep the specimen he would remove (the residual piece of bone), but he did not. I asked him for it after the surgery and told me he would send it, but he never did. Only after a few months (after getting a release of information from another medical center where I went to get a second opinion) he admitted of throwing the specimen away. He is a liar! I do not wish a similar experience upon anyone. Please think twice before you choose who to go to for oral surgery!

As for full disclosure, I do help Dr. Sarkissian with his web sites, but our whole family became patients long before that. We had to find a dentist for our two year old son and got a recommendation for a dentist that specialized in child dentistry. We went to interview him - and left in horror: he saw nothing wrong with using highly toxic mercury in a young childs mouth and was regularly knocking out his patients even for small procedures. So we proceeded without recommendation and found - lucky us - Dr. Sarkissian just a few miles away. Instead of knocking out children he engaged them and showed them how all this 'stuff' in his office worked. He did not have child-sized chairs - he treated the child while sitting on the parents lap - so much better solution! All that is more than ten years ago - our son never got a chance to develop fear of the dentist - he enjoyed going!

Dr Sarkissian and his staff are calm, caring and professional. I first came here to replace an old mercury filling because they had the best equipment and skills. Everything was so modern and clean, so I switched dentists. Here they use cameras and Doctor involved me with my dental care by showing me my teeth on the computer screen and explaining everything....rather than just telling me what needed to happen. I also found Sarkissian's approach of preventative dental care inspiring as the thought of serious dental work numbs me with anxiety. I was alway a nervous patient but now under their care, I almost feel like its a trip to a dental spa....funny, but kind of true. And I've upped my dental cleanings as a result.
