I have found it a privilege and a thrill to be an orthodontist. The joy comes from the individuals and families I have encountered and the lasting relationships that have been built. I love the fact that my practice spans a wide range of ages and all the different personalities that accompany each. Most of all, it is the upbeat attitudes and smiles on a daily basis that enrich my life. We all have a sense of pursuing common goals and working together to put the gift of a great smile on each persons face.

Orthodontics is never routine, since so many new techniques and technologies are unfolding. The best aspect of practicing orthodontics is that this profession is constantly changing. The challenge for me is to sort out the hype from the truly useful. We strive to bring the most value to the families we treat. I regularly participate in continuing education courses as a way to offer my patients all the benefits of the latest, proven techniques in orthodontics.

We believe orthodontic treatment consists of an ongoing relationship with our patients. Each individual deserves to feel, and be, the total focus of attention of the entire staff when arriving for every visit. If our patients have not smiled, laughed, or been made to feel special, then we havent done our job. We are here for our patients, and we want everybody who comes to our practice to feel welcome.

I spent my early years growing up in Torrington, Connecticut, and now reside in Leominster with my wife, Maureen. We have three grown, married sons, and we are the proud grandparents of sixgrandsons and two granddaughters. I have a great appreciation for the arts, and in my free time I enjoy oil painting, drumming, and most outdoor activities/sports.

Community involvement has always played a major role in my professional and private life. I believe that it is myduty to help make the community in which I live and have my practice become better. I enjoy participating in a variety of community activities, including having coachedbasketball and baseball teams, volunteering my time to youth organizations, and supporting a number of charities, especially school based activities.

Many warmhearted stories have been written about the role of dogs in our daily lives. For those of you who did not know Ranger, he was a wonderful dog. Ranger was a Shepherd, Labrador, and Chow mix. My oldest son adopted Ranger out of a shelter while in college. As he advanced inhis education he could no longer take Ranger with him.My wife and I adopted Ranger, with a lotof hesitation, feeling that having a dog would restrict our time and freedom; pluswe never had a pet previously.

Almost immmediatelywe find out that having Ranger around was hardly a burden. In fact, Rangers mere presence was a gift of unparalleled joy. Ranger was a constant companion, Hewas everybodys soul mate, and he created everlasting warmth in the hearts of those who knew him.

Sadly, Rangerdeveloped cancer, and after receiving surgery, radiation, and medication, he passed away. However, the effort gave Ranger, and all who loved him, eighteen more months. Where once we feared a life with Ranger, its now sadto livelife without him. He was the the best to wake up to in the morning and the best with which to end the day.Its hard to understand just how much one dog can change your life, but for those of you who have experienced this, you know you are blessed beyond what words can describe.

What I love most about my Job: Orthodontics has to be one of the most rewarding jobs. Watching children and adults confidence grow as their smiles change has to the greatest part of my job. I love being one of the first team members in our office they get to encounter and being able to make patients feel welcome and comfortable gives me great satisfaction.

Dont worry! Braces arent nearly as scary as you may think. In fact, braces today come in a variety of styles, materials, and colors, making life with braces much easier, more comfortable, and even more stylish than in the past.

  • Early treatment Early treatment allows orthodontists to monitor the growth of the jaw and recommend further orthodontic treatment if it becomes necessary. Not everybody receives early orthodontic treatment; in some cases it may be recommended that a patient wait to receive treatment.
  • What needs correction The amount of treatment needed to correct a problem will determine how long the process takes. Different patients react to treatments differently. While it may take one patient only 12 months to complete treatment, it may take another patient 24 months. Treatment times can vary depending on how quickly your body responds and how much work is needed to give you the show-stopping smile you expect.
  • YOU! Your willingness to use the appliances your orthodontist gives you plays a major role in the length of time it takes to complete your treatment. Always remember to take care of your braces and appliances; this truly will help make your treatment shorter!
  • Orthodontic braces are a big part of life for many people your age. While braces may have had a bad reputation in the past, todays braces make it easy to look good and feel good! Please contact our practice to schedule your next orthodontic checkup.

Orthodontic treatment is no longer just for teens. In fact, the American Association of Orthodontists states that one in five orthodontic patients is over the age of 21. Many adults are choosing to receive treatment because they understand the importance of maintaining their health, and they want to feel better about their appearance. Adults everywhere are taking advantage of the opportunity to receive orthodontic care, and now you can too.

For many adults, the thought of having metal braces is enough to discourage them from receiving treatment. However, todays orthodontic treatment options offer a variety of braces and appliances that are comfortable, aesthetic, and customized to meet your needs. Types of braces include:

The main difference to remember when treating adults or children and teens, is that in younger patients the jawbones are still developing. For adults, these bones have stopped growing, which may mean the possibility of orthognathic surgery to align the jawbones. Other differences include:

  • Gum or bone loss (periodontal disease) Adults are more likely than children to experience gum recession or even bone loss due to gingivitis or advanced periodontal disease. Patients with straighter teeth are less likely to get gum disease.
  • Worn or missing teeth Over time teeth can become worn down and shift into different positions that can only be corrected with orthodontic care. Missing teeth can cause other teeth to shift and tilt, creating a bad bite and increasing the possibility of gum disease.
  • Incomplete orthodontic treatment as a teen Many adults received some orthodontic treatment as a child or teen, but never completed their treatment. As an adult, they choose to complete their orthodontic treatment to achieve the healthy, beautiful smile they always wanted.
  • Our practice also recognizes that adults and children have different needs, and require a different level of attention and care. We will work with you to ensure that you receive the most appropriate treatments, and that your needs are met with understanding and respect from us.

I am getting my braces treatment here, uhh I don't like this place if you couldn't tell by my 1 star. There is this one staff member who I don't know the name of who never goes according to what the appointment is for. I was supposed to get expanders and she attempted to keep me from getting them because "they hurt" AHEM I had them a couple months before this occurrence, they felt just like when I first got the braces, but my mother told her, the appointment was for the expanders specifically and she was all like "I tried to save you" no, hun you are only ruining my treatment. I may be harsh with this one star rating but this is my teeth, also I recently got the bracket that goes all around the molars because I kept breaking them unable to put my elastics on, I know, I know. But when I tried to put the elastics on I found out she fused a bracket without a hook on it that the elastics hold onto, making putting elastics on impossible. Honestly it was fine until she became involved with my treatment.

Professional service, super friendly office staff (especially Nancy!) and Dr. Yamin is a warm, dedicated orthodontist who will make every possible effort to help you or your child reach their best smile. I cannot recommend them enough. I had tried another Leominster orthodontist prior to Dr. Yasmin, but switched and have enjoyed the better care and results here!

I just finished my treatment with Joseph Yamin and his wonderful team of ladies! I had braces for about 2.5 years and I had a big problem to correct. They stuck with me, I stuck with their advice, and voila! My teeth are fixed and my braces are off. They gave me the support I needed to do what I needed to do. I was referred by my dentist and I never thought I could afford braces. They gave me some options and worked with me. They are patient, flexible, supportive, and wonderful conversationalists! Not to mention, very professional. Thank you, team! I would refer anyone looking for ortho treatment to you guys.

Around 5 years ago I was experiencing a terrible clicking in my jaw. Sometimes my jaw would almost lock up when I opened my mouth and tried to close it again. My dentist recommended that I see an Orthodontist. I made an appointment with Dr. Yamin and he made a retainer for me. After a couple of months of wearing the retainer, the clicking went away and my jaw problem has been 99% better. I would recommend Dr. Yamin and his professional staff to anyone having any problems regarding dental or jaw alignment. My son also saw Dr. Yamin years ago for the placement of his braces and treatment thereafter.

I am 36 years old, today, but, in 1995, I got my braces put on with Dr. Yamin. I REALLY needed braces, as I had an overbite. I was about 15-years-old. My parents agreed, and I wanted them, badly! Dr. Yamin, had me get my wisdom teeth pulled, and a HUGE regret and a strange regret, also, he had me get my bottom middle tooth pulled! Didn't make sense, at all, but, he wanted it that way, so I got it done. After about a year, my father lost his job, and my parents couldn't pay for my braces any more. So, Dr. Yamin stopped my braces treatment, immediatel, and didn't give me any direction as to come in to his office and get my braces removed. I kept my braces on for another year, because my parents nor I didn't know to keep them on or where to get them removed. Or, if contacting Dr. Yamin, would he charge us. We finally contacted him, and he removed the brackets, but left the hardened glue on all my teeth. It was a very unpleasant feeling. A very bad expierence, in all. They made me feel small. I am giving this review, now, because I am looking for an ortho, for my daughter, and I would never choose him! I also had braces, as an adult, and my ortho commented how strange it was that Dr. Yamin removed my bottom incisor. He must have done it, to get the job done quick. He didn't think that my smile is forever misaligned. Thank you, for that, Dr. yamin! Think twice, before going to him.
