My name is Joe Bousaba and I am committed to providing my patients with the highest level of dental care and service. One of my goals as a dentist is to utilize technology to educate and empower my patients to allow them to make the best decisions regarding their oral health. I am a self proclaimed dental nerd and I love learning about dental materials, techniques, and the ever evolving landscape of technologic applications in dentistry.
I am a native North Carolinian and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following four amazing years in Chapel Hill, I moved to Boston where I completed my dental training at Boston University. I then completed a General Practice Residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Following residency my wife and I moved to Denver, Colorado where we lived for nearly five years. We loved exploring the Rocky Mountains and all of Colorados beautiful landscape, but eventually recognized the difficulties of being far from our families on the East Coast.
We moved to Richmond in 2018 and we are very thankful to be a part of the Richmond community. I enjoy nature and the outdoors especially running and hiking through the James River Park System. My wife and I also love exploring the ever growing culinary scene in Richmond.
Our dental practice is small and intimate. This is intentional and I believe this is a stronger way to create and foster meaningful relationships with our patients. I look forward to getting to know you and helping improve and maintain your dental health through high quality dental care.
Shelley is a Richmond native who has always wanted to be a dental hygienist. She continued her family legacy at West Virginia University where she attended dental hygiene school. When she is not cheering on the Mountaineers, you can find her spending time with family and friends, playing piano, or trying out local restaurants. She loves to travel and is almost always planning a weekend getaway.
Lynn is a native of Pennsylvania where she attended the Barbizon School and played 2nd chair violin in the Harrisburg Youth Symphony. Her interest in fashion & design led her to Virginia Intermont College where she received her undergraduate degree. An accomplished management professional, Lynn left the world of retail in 1994 to join Dr. Crockett and now Dr. Bousaba.
Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Katie graduated from the University of Mary Washington and has been a dental assistant since 2014. She especially loves assisting in dental surgeries and believes every day is a new opportunity to ensure our patients are happy, comfortable, and receive the best level of care. Katie has a love for sailing and spends many weekends sailboat racing on the Chesapeake Bay. When not on the water, Katies passion for food keeps her busy cooking in the kitchen or checking out Richmonds newest restaurants.
Jessica was born and raised in Virginia Beach. She has both front office and clinical experience as she worked as a front office team member for seven years and has transitioned into working as a dental assitant within our office. She moved to Richmond with her husband, Bobby, in 2014. She has a Wheaten Terrier named Annie who is her most prized possession.
Cayla was born and raised in Morganton, North Carolina. She attended North Carolina State University for a degree in Business Finance and worked in finance for nearly 10 years. In 2015 Cayla made the decision to follow her passion and returned to school to complete a degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
Carter is a golden retriever and a certified therapy dog through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. She enjoys running on the beach, swimming, and rolling around in snow. You will typically find Carter lounging on her bed, but also loves to say hello by bringing her toys to visitors and shaking their hands.

Dr. Bousaba is a kind, caring and wonderful Dentist. The entire staff is friendly and caring. Shelly is a phenomenal hygienist and does a great job with my teeth that are not the easiest to clean. I actually look forward to going to the dentist!

Dr. Bousaba is very professional and knowledgeable. He is thorough with his work and very good at communicating what he is seeing and what needs to be done. He is also very careful when he handles teeth and guides you through the process step by step. Lynn at the front desk is always so warm and welcoming along with their cute and calm dog Carter. I also always enjoy my talks with Shelley who is so friendly and good at what she does. The environment in this office gives you a feel of a family taking care of your family.

I have been going to Dr. Bousaba since he opened his practice on Libbie. Excellent quality. He and his wonderful staff make you feel so comfortable. If you are anxious about going to the dentist this place is for you. You will get the finest care and great teeth! Perfection.

I recently went to Dr. Bousaba for a replacement crown. Not only was the entire office efficient and totally nice to me, but when I asked Dr. Bousaba about his process and wanted to see his tools (I'm a jewelry maker), he brought me to the studio room and showed me exactly how the kiln works and the material that is computer printed into a crown that fit me perfectly. Love it when I don't have to wait for another office to make the crown and make a return trip. AND I got a goodie bag of used (and disinfected) tools to use in my business. Score!

Dr. Bousaba is the absolute BEST. I had an emergency with a tooth of mine not too long ago and he came in during a weekend to help me correct the issue. Never have had a wait time, their staff is always so professional and so friendly, he is very informative about what he's doing each time and checks in throughout the appointment. He has done an absolutely immaculate job on my fillings, correcting a broken tooth, and fixing my chipped front tooth. I've been through the ringer with dental related issues and he's by far the best dentist I have ever seen. Words to describe him with work: Precision, focus, intelligent, helpful, patient, pristine, informative- he triple checks his work and makes sure I am comfortable each and every time- his dental assistant, Katie, is incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and they work extremely well together- that's a win. Lynn is so sweet and always is so personable when checking in, checking out, and a pure angel for getting me in so fast always- Grateful for all you do!

For thirty-five years I was a patient of the late, great dentist Davey Crockett. Davey was not just a highly-skilled technician, but brought artistry to his work, while embracing the latest technologies. Joe Bousaba follows this tradition. When Joe took over Davey's practice, I thought no one could fill his shoes, but you will be in good hands with Joe to take care of your dental needs. Joe also has a great team of people behind him. Nobody has gotten my teeth cleaner than his dental hygienist Shelley Strachan. Shelley has a very friendly manner that puts you at ease in the chair and is full of great dental care tips. Katie Yudkin, the dental assistant, dazzled me by replacing my cracked retainer on the same day I brought it in by taking digital impressions for the 3-D printing of a new retainer. Lynn Young, who holds down the front desk, makes you feel welcome and provides first-class service, kindly helping you with any scheduling and billing issues you may have. It's hard to imagine someone looking forward to dental visits, but I actually do! The visit starts off with a fun conversation with Lynn and, if I'm lucky, and handshake from Carter the dog. From there, for some visits I am lucky enough to have my teeth cleaned by Shelley, who is always warm, comforting, and patient with my nervousness. At the last visit I hardly noticed the work being done because we were having such a fun chat! At other visits, I see Dr. Bousaba and either Katie or Jessica. All of them are happy to answer my endless questions, and they clearly want to make sure I have a positive experience. They listen, they give good information, and they share my concerns. Dr. Bousaba even opened the office on a planned day off during the holidays in order to fix something that popped up. Finally, the visit ends with another stop by Lynn's desk. I know that she will do her best to make sure I get the best outcome from my insurance company, and just in general will take care of the business side of things. Do yourself a favor. If you have any thoughts at all about trying out a new dentist, give Dr. Bousaba's practice a try.

Dr. Crockett was my dentist my entire life. Dr. Bousaba continues the same level of exceptional care provided by Dr. Crockett. The technology that he has introduced to the practice is above bar and has enhanced the dental care offered. His staff is AMAZING. There is only one Lynn and her staying with the practice was instrumental in a positive transition to Dr. Bousaba. Shelly's skills as a hygienist can not be matched. Bravo Dr. Bousaba.

Dr Bousaba recently replaced some very old veneers on my 4 front teeth. My new ones look great--a better match than the first ones from 20+ years ago. I couldn't be more pleased. I'm not particularly nervous about dental work, but I actually dozed off while he and his crew were working on me. That's gentle!! I've had a few cleanings, fillings, Zoom whitening and general checkups with Dr. Bousaba and his wonderful staff. Don't ever retire, please, any of you!!

I recently had my teeth straightened by Dr. Bousaba in collaboration with SureSmile, a clear teeth alignment technology. Dr. Bousaba and his team worked closely with me through regular check-ins to ensure I achieved my desired results (and I'm a bit of a perfectionist), easily adjusting the plan here and there as we identified opportunities to improve the way my teeth were reacting to the plan (free of any additional charges per the very accommodating treatment terms). I couldn't be happier with the results and with the way Dr. Bousaba and his team handled my entire experience. They're also just a joy to be around; a very personable and caring team.

Davey Crockett was my friend and dentist for five decades and more. His last outstanding act of caring for his patients was to secure Dr. Joe Bousaba as the exceptional professional to continue his practice of providing the very best dental care available. Dr. Joe provides an extremely scientific insight to my dental health combined with the latest technical innovations (such as making a crown procedure into a single visit due to being able to fabricate the crown within a couple of hours after first sitting in the chair) and a compassionate approach to my care. Dr. Bousaba, Shelley, Jess, Katie and Lynn are all wonderful! They are professional, knowledgeable, and welcoming, and make you feel comfortable regardless of the procedure. I've never dreaded a dentist appointment going here, and I always feel like they're looking out for me rather than trying to push a product or fill a quota. Highly recommend!

I can't say enough wonderful things about the entire team at Dr. Bousaba's office! First and foremost, Dr. Bousaba is extremely professional and friendly. Shelley is the best hygienist I've ever had. (I used to dread teeth cleanings and she makes it a breeze!) And Lynn keeps the place running with expert efficiency! I moved to Richmond and am so glad a friend recommended this dental office. Can't imagine better care!
